It does its Job

I like the lens, and it does its job. Great for sports, but I do have to add some sharpening in photoshop as it is not as tack sharp as I would like to see out of a 2.8 lens. I would buy it again.

Fast Focusing...Tack Sharp......

This lens is the favorite among the paparazzi in Hollywood. I just bought one from Adorama, March 27 and am extremely happy with my copy. I look forward to using it for my work as a celebrity photographer here in L.A. All I need is one good set of pix (of a celebrity) and this lens will have already paid for itself. I love this lens more than my Canon 70-200 f/2.8 non-IS.

Class of its own

I shoot lacrosse and hockey, and there just isn't anything else in this length and aperture available. Several returns to Sigma to address focus issues but I'm very satisfied now with it on my D300. Recommend lens ... plus physical training for hand-holding.

Outstanding

It's heavy, but worth the weight. Best lense for the money. Fast focus and sharp

Outstanding Lens!

This is an awesome lens. The more I use it the more impressed I am with the image quality. There is no loss of image quality when using the 1.4TC. The lens is long and heavy so be prepared to mount it on a sturdy tripod.

Sigma 135306 120-300mm f/2.8 EX DG APO IF HSM Zoom Lens Specifications

About Sigma 135306 120-300mm f/2.8 EX DG APO IF HSM Zoom Lens

The 120-300mm F2.8 APO EX DG HSM lens is fully compatible with all Nikon Digital SLR cameras, including the D40 and D40X .

This lens transforms the classic large-aperture F2.8 300mm lens into a zoom lens that allows you to determine the picture composition without having to change your vantage point.

Two SLD (the special low dispersion) glass elements in front group and another SLD element is used in the rear group for excellent correction of chromatic aberration. The new lens coating reduces flare and ghost, a common problem with digital cameras and also creates an optimum natural color balance.

Since focusing and zooming do not change its overall length, this lens offers ease of handling. HSM ensures a quiet, high-speed, AF as well as full-time manual focus (for Sigma, Canon and Nikon mounts). Tripod Socket (TS-41) is supplied as a standard accessory. Circular polarizing filters can easily be used as the front of the lens does not rotate. When this lens is used with the 1.4x EX or 2x EX Apo Tele Converters (optional), it becomes a 168-420mmF4 AF telephoto lens or a 240-600mm F5.6 AF ultra-telephoto lens respectively.
