Anthony F : I want to use :Sigma DG 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 APO HSM OS Lens: On my Nikon D7000 F-mount: Is there an adaptor out there that will allow me to mount this lens to my D7000 without problems, and will it AutoFocus from the D7000's internal motor?HENRY N : Just select this lens with a Nikon mount Sigma 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 DG APO OS (Optical Stabilizer) HSM AutoFocus Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon AF Cameras - USA WarrantyDONALD O : Anthony, If you go to Sigma's website, it will give you all the specs and compatibility for this lens. D.JOHN C : Anthony, I have this lens but use it on a Canon 60D, so unfortunately I cannot help you with your question. I will say that I love this lens. It has great reach and the optical stabilizer is wonderful. I've used it for landscapes, sports, and even zooming in on bees. Plus it costs much less than the Canon option.CHARLES R : I have no idea. I doubt it. I suspect that you have more than mount and motor issues. I believe that Nikon uses a different sensor type. This is optimized for APS-C. Sigma makes a Nikon compatible version of this lens.WILLIAM R : It will fit nicely. The lens is a great deal and a good buy.STEVE E : Can not answer yourquestion but it one great lense.WILLIAM N : I don't know about Nikon but it operates very well on my Canon 50Dwith exceptional results. BILL NAGYDAVE T : I'd like to help you out, but I have a Canon camera and didn't need an adaptor.Anthony F : I ordered the lens and a K-mount lens to F-Mount camera adapter.Anthony F : I found a SA/KPR mount lens for $220 and it has 4min left on it, i need to know if it will work on an f-mount lens. The rear cap (SA/KPR) is the cap they put on all the sigmas I believe, and I am unsure if it is an SA mount (which people are telling me has no adapter for f-mount) or a K mount (KPR) which I can buy an adapter for...JESSE W : Yes there is an adapter but Sigma also sells a Nikon mount version that would work with your autofocus. The ad apter will not auto focus.PAUL H : Sorry, I have a Canon T4I and use the lens on that camera body. Can't help on Nikon.
Shopper : is this for a rebel t2i ?CHARLES B : Yes, it should work just fine for a rebel t2i.TIMOTHY J H : Yes, I use one with my T2i, with great results/LISA L : Yes it will... We use it on a T3i and 60D. This is a great lens! Enjoy and have fun with it!!! A bit on the heavy side for me is the only down fall, I use a mono stick or tripod with it, with no problems.ELMER M : I'm not sure but it should work. I used this lens on a XTi .JESSE W : YesVERONICA C : I bought this lense for a canon 5d markII . Though most of my lenses fit my rebel and my 5d a couple do not. I have Never tried it on my rebel. I would go to sigma and make sure before making any purchases.HOWARD WADE H : I am using it with a rebel T1i... works great PAUL C : Yes it will work very well with the T2i. I like mine very much and use it with my 50D for wildlife and day lite sports. The lens becomes a 180 to 600 on the 50D. But on my 5D, which is a full frame camera, it is 120 to 400. The OS system is quiet good. Be sure to switch it off when mounted on tripod. MILAN S : The lens will fit the mount of your Rebel and you will be able to shoot photos. Keep in mind, however, that your camera has a 2/3 sensor, so this lens will be about 180-600 mm effectively instead of the 120-400 when mounted on a full-sensor camera. Personally, I'd go with something a little bit shorter, unless you have a very specific use for a 600 mm lens.
Billie C : Have you been happy with this lensl? I am looking at a Nikon 80 - 400mm F4.5 and trying to compare these two leneseBRAD G : I have been very happy with the lens. I bought to mainly shoot wildlife but I have found it works really well for head shots and close ups of flowers.SARAH T : The lens takes great pictures! I've used it in many outdoor settings. I don't usually use a tripod (because of convienience) but this lens is extremely heavy, so a tripod might help. I just bought the Canon 18-200 and I like that much better. No switching lens for the most part.RUSS M : Overall, yes. My only "complaint" with this lens is that it really does need lots of good light. When you have that, images are tack sharp. Mediocre light and it's softer than I'd like, but it was 1/2 the price of a Canon L-Series lens. This lens had to go back to Sigma for a warranty repair, and they were great. Within a week of them receiving it, it was repaired and on its way back to me.XANTHI M : I'm very happy with Sigma's 12--400 OS lens. This is the lens that lives on my camera (Canon EOS 7D) the majority of the time. I use it primarily for bird photography, and find it heavy but manageable for walkaround use. The OS is surprisingly good, allowing razor-crisp shots of birds in flight at high shutter speeds (1/500 s or faster in my hands) and of stationary subjects at more moderate shutter speeds. This also serves as an adequate macro lens in a pinch, especially for easily spooked subjects like dragonflies where the longer focal length is helpful, and I've used it for candid action shots of children and pets as well. I've had a couple of autofocus misfires in low light/low contrast situations, but since I largely shoot in manual focus mode, this isn't a major drawback for me. My only other complaint is that the f/5.6 aperture at 400 mm really isn't wide enough for capturing action shots in low light. However, for the price, this is a superb lens.ROBERT M : I have the Nikon version but Yes I am happy with the lens. It had to go back to Sigma for a focus update as I use it with a Nikon D7000. Since the update the lens is fine. My reason for this lens is that I wanted a Nikon 200-400 but couldn't afford it. Also, the reviews of this lens on different sites had users liking this lens as a viable lens instead of the 80-400 and the 200-400. Note that these reviews and my purchase was BEFORE Nikon revamped the venerable 80-400 with VR! If I had to do it again, I would go with the Nikon 80-400.WILLIAM L : The Sigma lens has worked very well for me. I am not familiar with the Nikon lens so I couldn't compare them.HENRY N : Hi Billie, Yes, I like my Sigma. I have a Canon 7d camera and the pair works fine. If you have adequate light, you can shoot with out tripod. Being I use Canon, I cannot address the Nikon lens. Cheers Henry DAVID K : Hello Billie, My experiences with the Sigma 120-400mm zoom were very positive. For the difference in price between it and the Nikon version of this zoom range I'd buy the Sigma and put the savings toward something else!MATTHEW M : I purchased the canon version of this lens for wildlife photography primarily and I love it. The images are very sharp and the stabilization allows me to hand hold and even pan while keeping a sharp focus even when shooting at 400mm. Since I use it on a crop sensor I have not seen any vignetting or barrel distortion. Focus is pretty fast and reliable. While not a professional photographer I Iove this lens for its good range and nice sharp focus. Hope this helps. DANA B : I have used this lens for just under a year now. It is wonderful. The IS is a dream. I often use it hand held. It is one of the lenses I always carry.EUGENE M : I have been extremely happy with my lens. The original lens that I purchased had a recall notice and was not focusing correctly. So I sent the lens back and they made the proper adjustment. I use this lens for sports and it works nice. I recently purchased a Canon 60D and have not had a lot of opportunity to use with the new camera. I have taken about 30 shots and they look nice. I would recommend the lens.PAUL W : I've been very happy with this lens. Relatively quick focusing considering the aperture. The only negative is substantial lens creep if you don't have the lens locked (at 120mm).

I use this lens to get in closer to birds

I use this lens to get in closer to birds, frogs and dragonflies. For an Adorama rating of E+ the lens is like new. You can always count on Adorama's honesty.

Well worth it!

I've been seesawing between the new Nikon 80-400mm and this Sigma 120-400mm all summer. I finally decided to try the Sigma. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the build quality. So I put it to work out my back deck which faces our lake. I get lots of birds, butterflies and wildlife of all kinds and I was looking for an improvement over my Nikon kit lens 18-200mm. It's been two weeks of shooting and it is meeting my needs handsomely. Auto focus works fine with my Nikon D300 and the image stabilization enables great hand held shots even at 400mm. Photo clarity is very good. It does, like all these 4.5 lens' need good light. I love the Bokeh. The new Nikon may indeed be better but at three times the price, this Sigma is a great value.

If you need a 400mm surprise its here.

This is my first Sigma Lens. I will try not to compare but give honest feedback. It was purchased for wildlife and has the necessary reach I needed to add to my bag. The lens is heavy, not a walk around but this was known. The weight is well balanced when mounted on a tripod. Images are sharp in the 120-200 range and soften some at 400mm. After shooting in the shade and direct sun where I received the better images I state the obvious; more light or proper light is best. Low light situations are not a strong point. I will test more in low light but for now more light is best for this lens. I'm use to f2.8 lenses. I did get better sharpness on manual focus when zooming to 400mm. That's not a bad thing. For photographers that understand equipment limitations and how to make adjustments you will be happy this lens is in your bag. Great price point!

Excellent Zoom

I've used this lens on many occasions in different conditions and the results have been excellent. Being a photo enthusiast and not a pro I can't compare to the upper end lenses but I can say that in my opinion this lens is worth every penny and I am very pleased with it. I have needed little or no tuning with DPP and though it is made for a full sized sensor this lens works great on my Canon 60D. Shot everything from wildlife to baseball games to the sailboats in the Luis Vuitton Challenge Cup series.

Telezoom lens with a good reach

I like to do landscapes along with some sports and animal pictures. This one has the reach I wanted in a zoom lens. Haven't had alot of time to try it out due to the bad weather lately but the test photos I've taken have been very good. It's not a light weight lens but then again what is with this kind of reach?

perfect

I read many reviews before I purchased this lens, many said the focus isn't good, I disagree! I think the focus is right on, and if you are running your speed and f stop correctly, you should have a great sharp photo ... great for the price

love it

I like it, I read many reviews that the focus degenerates as you get to the 400mm length, I find that only if I don't have enough light and have to decrease my Fstop... I think it has great focus capacity, specially at 360mm...

Heavy, but Sharp

Like tying two bricks to your camera, but it is balanced well for tripod use. The OS does allow hand held, but it seems to take a second or two to stabilize. If you get in a hurry, you can get blurry shots. The autofocus is pretty fast. The manual focus ring seems to be set too far behind the balance point so if you're handholding, it is kind of awkward. Overall, I'm pleased with the lens however.

Great buy and very fast autofocus

I am a travel photographer of a state tourism office and really need a 400mm that's portable. This lens fits the need very well. It's less than a grand too.

Better buy than the Canon 100-400

Before purchasing this lens, I read many reviews comparing this lens to the Canon 100-400. I decided on this even though it's heavier, but I prefer the twist motion to adjust focal length. It's also $400 less. I only made a dozen test shots so far. The outdoor ones are very sharp at f5.6 and f16 ranging from 120 to 400mm. One indoor portrait isn't sharp, but the shutter is at 1/15 sec on a monopod! My experience with this lens is very limited. This review needs to be updated when I made more images. So far I'm happy with it and would highly recommend to those sitting on a fence.

Great Lens for the money

This has been a great lens so far. The auto focus is fast and the OS works great even at 400mm images seem a little soft at 400mm but I haven't tried it on a tripod yet. Handholding with this lens works well. I will update my review once I have more time to use it.

A Great Lens At A Great Price

I use this to shoot outdoor soccer and cross country. I've also got bird feeders in the back and I'm getting used to having a 400mm reach into my own back yard. Awesome lens!

Outstanding performance and price!

I needed a longer zoom lens to really reach out , on a crop body , but couldn't afford a similar range in Canon . The Sigma really works well and the auto focus is right on and fast. The lens is fairly heavy but that's a good thing for stability . I have no regrets on purchasing this lens for wildlife and landscapes. The Image Stabilization is a life saver!

Great lens for the price. Auto Focus is hit or miss when used with my T2i, but not an issue because I was not intending to use the auto focus often. Great images!

Great lens, but very heavy

I traded up from the Sigma 135-400. This is heavier, but has the OS good for at least 2 stops. Also better close focus than previous lens. You can shoot handheld, but it gets very heavy very fast.

Extremely Happy with this Lens

I purchased this lens after originally wanting the Nikon 80-400 lens. I purchased the Nikon lens used from another store and they never told me that particular lens wouldn't work with my D5100 camera. So, I decided to try the Sigma 120-400 lens (for about 1/2 the price) and I've been extremely happy so far. I've only used it around my farm so I can't comment on traveling with it. We will be spending 2 weeks in Maui and Kauai in March and can't wait to use the lens on that trip. I am by no means even close to an expert, but I'm extremely happy with this lens so far! Adorama was great to deal with. Their customer service reps have answered all of my questions and made some recommendations for some other products. I purchased a monopod and head and will review that once I have a chance to put it to use. I just ordered a tripod/ball head, a tripod bag and a camera backpack yesterday. Can't wait for the tripod to come as the one I'm using is cheap and old!

Used mostly for bird/raptor photography. No trouble focusing on subject. Able to use hand held except in low light. Two position OS switch can be cumbersome.

A great second lens

I got this lens after trying it out on an overseas trip. I was looking for an alternative to the Nikon 80~400 lens and the Sigma lens fits the bill. While not as fast as my Nikon 300 mm 2.8, it is easy to handle without a mono or tripod. My only complaints are that Sigma did not provide a means to attach a strap of carrying the lens and the hood is awkward when attached to the lens. I would recommend this lens to anyone looking for an alternative to the Nikon 80~400.

Quality for the price is superb.

This lens competes well... quite well with the Canon 100-400mm IS lens. The optics are great and the focus fast and accurate, sometimes too accurate. What I mean by that is that one has to be careful that exactly what one wants in the main focus is in the cross hair as it will focus in front or behind the subject if care is not taken. I generally take advantage of the AF override. I let the AF focus then I tweak it with the manual focus ring which is positioned in a great place at the rear of the lens, unlike most lenses. The focal length adjustment is in the front of the lens, I love it. The lens may be heavy, but not much more than the Canon 100-400mm, and it is balanced extremely well as to not feel as heavy. Picture quality is excellent. Glad I chose this this over the Canon 100-400mm, especially for the cost savings.

A good lens for those on a budget

This is a good overall lens for those who travel and want to be able to condense their equipment. This is a nice addition to casual and professional photographers who want to expand their capacity without breaking their bank account. I have used this lens to cover political events where the need for multiple lenses provided me with the opporuntiy to use this lens and I was pleased with the results. While it is not as fast as I would like (prefering a 2.8 aperature as opposed to the 4.5~5.6 existing aperature) I can do without the weight. This is a nice medium priced telephoto zoom lens.

Nice lens but not durable

While it lasted, this was a nice lens. The auto-focus was a bit fickle at times, but otherwise, great photos. It seems to be well-constructed and solid. After it got knocked off a low shelf onto a wood floor, I was astounded at how much damage resulted - certainly not a "Nikon" for ability to survive a hit. Great for the back yard but not a lens to take into the field.

Great value for wildlife photographers

Very pleased with lens capability for my intended usage for wildlife and bird photos. I like the extended zoom range of this lens. With the vibration reduction, I can hand hold in low light with good results. I did not find it overly heavy, given this is a 400 zoom. Well balanced and nicely made lens. Adorama package with filter kit was a great deal.

Does It's Job

After reading reviews online about this lens, I was pretty sure that this lens would be a good one to add to my collection. The reviewers compared this to the out-of-date Canon 100-400mm lens and most of them had to force themselves to make a decision about which one was better (which is pretty good when comparing the price of the canon to that of the sigma). However, the pictures that I took with this lens were not nearly as clear as the ones that I took with my Canon 28-135mm. This was disappointing so I got a 100-400mm into my hands, took a few pictures and compared the two lenses. That is when I came to my conclusion - the lens is unpredictable. There are a few pictures that I have with my sigma that are far sharper than the Canon and others that are far softer than the Canon. This is probably a problem with the auto-focus system of the Sigma (Sigma is well known for their auto-focus problem). Also, I could have just gotten a lemon of a lens (those can make a huge difference and they very much exist, the favorite lens of a famous wildlife photographer is used as a paperweight for somebody else). Overall, good image quality, bad auto-focus system.

I like my new lens !

By Smillymike

I bought this lens 3 weeks ago and it is a incredible lens for the price. I made some comparisons shots between my Canon 70-200mm F4 and it is comparable image quality. The OS work very well and images are sharp even at 400mm at F5.6. I definitely recommend this lens to all action/sports and birds pictures. I am sure the 150-500 have same image quality. Go buy it. (I was looking for Tamron 200-500, Canon 100-400, Tokina 80-400)

Great Lens For The Price!

Kept this lens on a 40D while on a safari in May 2010 and was very happy with the sharpeness & detail this lens captured. (Hubby used a Rebel w/wide angle canon lens) I did not take a tri-pod and mostly shot from the top of the Land Cruiser using a beanbag. Kept the image stablilizer on at all times and even captured some great hand held photos. No complaints about the focal points either. I was amazed to see the fine details of animal eyelashes & fur past 300mm. Even able to track BIF. ...

This telephoto zoom lens incorporates Sigma's original OS (Optical Stabilizer) function. It offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower. Three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide excellent correction for chromatic aberration. This lens is equipped with the rear focus system that minimizes fluctuation of aberration caused by focusing. It provides optimum image quality throughout the entire zoom range.

The super multi-layer coating reduces flare and ghosting. High image quality is assured throughout the entire zoom range. The minimum focusing distance of 150cm (59.1") throughout the entire zoomrange and has a maximum magnification of 1:4.2 make it useful for close-up photography.

This lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), which ensures a quiet and high-speed AF as well as full-time manual focusing capability. The addition of the optical 1.4x EXDG APO or 2x Ex DG APO Tele Converters produce a 168-560mm F6.3-8 MF ultra-telephoto zoom lens or a 240-800mm F9-11 MF ultra-telephoto zoom lens respectively.
