Sigma 18-250mm

Use this lens a lot, shooting my grandkids and their ball games. Use it when I walk around the parks and lakes. Have not had the opportunity to try it on birds in flight. Little heavy for a walk around lens, but I use it as one.

An all around lens

I have use this lens in landscape, wedding and party. So far the pictures came out great, sharp. Slow on low light, but with a flash pictures are good.

Great General Use Lens

I went from a Nikon 18 - 200mm VR lens to this Sigma 18 - 250mm lens. Autofocus is very fast and quiet. I've used it on two different cameras and it performs flawlessly. There is slight vignetting when zoomed right in but that's to be expected in such a lens. It's more noticeable when you have sky in the photo but anyone with photo-editing software can clone it out if they find it bothersome; I don't. Highly recommended for general use photography.

For what it is it is super

I use this lens when I don't want to carry all of the others. It works great as a hiking lens, a vacation lense or any other time that you don't want to lug around the camera bag. Use on a Nikon DSLR.

Good lens for the price

This kind of lenses have good and bad things; you loose some quality in gain of versatility. This doesn't mean that is a bad lens, you just need to have a good pulse or a tripod for the high zoom ranges. I had a 18-55 and 55-200 and always had to change lenses and in many ocassions lost my change on capturing a good shot due to lens exchange. If you read the reviews you'll find that all the super zoom lenses have almost the same flaws, so for the price and the range is why I chose the Sigma... Hope this could help you...

Good Buy

Great photo's with this lens. Took it to Orange Beach, Al. and was not disappointed. The only thing I did not like was the zoom action was not very smooth, like my Nikon lens. But overall, very pleased with the product.

FITS MY NEED, MOSTLY

The first unit I received would not make electrical contact with my D90. Adorama gladly exchanged it. The second unit developed the same problem after about a month. Long story short, the problem was in the camera which Nikon refused to admit, not with the lens. I like the lens except that it is a little too heavy and is quite soft focus at the 225mm to 250mm range.

Good walk around lens

This is a good alternative to the Nikon 18-200 VR or Tamron 18-270 VC. Better range than the Nikon, much faster zoom than the Tamron. Needs to be stepped down to see how sharp it can really be, but overall a solid performer and a great price.

Sigma 18mm - 250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS

I trusted Sigma telezoom product longtime ago as i was in Vietnam , that is why i bought a Sigma 50_500mm HMS DC OS in 6 months ago , at first , i worried a lot but after i and took picture on a lot close up portraits for customer wedding and all of results was perfect , real color and no blurry at all because of both 50_500mm and 18-250mm are OS (i did not use tripod ).I am really happy as i decided to buy Big Sigma 50_500mm , it was Canadian $ 1999.00 . Like i said above , my tests and wedding's results was good , so that made me more confident to buy a 18-250mm DC OS HSM , my tests from Sigma 18-250 was super clear , sharp and perfect color pictures , from results , i thought myself that why do i need all of lens that i must be useful for my Pro Photographer is NIKON , Nikon is the famous brand name , world class i knew that but so expensive .That is why i mention more Sigma lens that i can afford for both of Pro and hobby. I love the way that Sigma manufacture designed for both of lenses that i own , looking strong , nice , handy and easy use. Nothing to say more , i love Sigma lens

Eh

Because my only lens is the Nikon 18-105mm, I was really excited about the zoom length on the Sigma lens because I was going on an 8-day road trip and wanted an all-around travel lens. However, prior to leaving, I practiced with it and ultimately returned it because of the lack of sharp detail that I am accustomed to with my Nikon lens. Also, the Sigma lens was beyond slow to focus in low light; it was almost impossible for this lens to focus in low light at all. To test the capability of the lens (believe me, I'm no lens expert), I took the same images with my Nikon and had better clarity at the 105mm length than at 100-200mm with the Sigma lens. Shooting at a closer length on the Sigma was pretty comparable in clarity but not worth keeping the lens for. I exchanged it for the Nikon 70-300mm VR lens and I've decided to stick with Nikon lenses from now on.

Happy with it

Overall good lens. I purchased this to use instead of my 18-55 and 55-200 Nikon lenses. I use it only for outdoor soccer and football. I can't imagine it works great in low light conditions. Image quality is nice, comparable to the Nikon lenses but not quite as good - however, I've done no real comparison.

Fit my need perfectly

I wanted a lens that I could use for just about anything so I wouldn't have to lug a bunch of gear. The Sigma 18-250 has worked perfectly for me in that way. It's a great all-around lens that's sharp and easy to work with.

Does what I want it to do, more or less.

I bought this lens to avoid changing lenses - I put the lens on my Nikon D70s and have not removed it. The OS aspect does not overly impress me, however. Maybe I was expecting too much. The OS effect seems to be fairly minimal.

Happy with this lens

After LOTS of research I decided on the Sigma 18-250 OS lens rather than spend the extra money for the Nikon 18-200 VR. While I have not had as much opportunity to test the lens as I would like right now (vacation coming up in a few weeks)I am happy with the shots I have gotten to date.

Awesome all-around lens

The Sigma 18-250 OS lens is an incredible all-around lens to keep on your camera when you are heading out and don't know what you will encounter! It lives on my Nikon D300s and the optical stabilization is invaluable when shooting video.
