Questions & Answers

Shopper : Have you had any focusing issues (AF) with this lens? I am eager to purchase the 30mm, but the reviews I have read scare me a bit.ROBERTO D : When I first bought the lens, the focus system was great. However, after about a year and a half, I started having issues. Anything within about 15 feet would focus perfectly. However, anything more than 15-20 feet the pictures are always OOF. Sent in to Sigma and theu did a firmware update which did nothing to fix the issue. Now the lens sits gathering dust since I can't get it fixed, nor would I dump it off on someone else.CHARLES S : I did not have any issues with the AF. It is fast, sharp and silent.TERRY R : I have not had any problems at all. This is very sharp lens and stays on my camera all the time. DAVID K : Yes, the motor itself is a little slow compared to Canon lenses. Can be really frustrating depending on the situation, but you get used to it. The performance of the lens otherwise makes it totally worth it, I love how this lens looks.JOSEPH Z : my copy is excellent. i use it on my canon 7d and rebel xti. amazing bokeh! highly recommended.KARALEA C : I've never had any focus issues with mine thus far. I really like this lens a lot and use it often.KEVIN F : My first one had a slight back-focus issue. Adorama took it back, paid for all the shipping, and even pulled and tested another at my request on this lens. The tested one was perfect and has been ever since. This is one of my favorite lenses. For the price difference over the only other lens that compares, this one is worth the hassle. Heck, even if I had to go through 2-3 of them it would be worth it. My advice - call into sales, tell them you want this lens and ask if they will test one on your camera model for focus accuracy before shipping. That should greatly reduce the odds of getting a bad one.SUNGHYUN B : On my viewfinder or LCD of a camera, af focus was really accurate but the result's focus is little front of from focusing point. I heard Sigma can fix his issue then this lens is really working great. Maybe i got a bad copy or there are many bad copies of this lens. One thing i can tell, this is very good lens with crop bodies 30mm is almost 45 or 46mm and aperture is f1.4 that is great for your everyday purpose. Pin issue will be fixed by manufacturer. Except pin issue, very good lens.CHEIKH K : It is a hit or miss on this lens. I received one that would not focus. It was somehow stuck. I had to return it. Looks nice on the 7D that all the experience I had :) Good luck.ROGER P : i shoot photos in nightclubs with this lens always on AF and full auto flash off. never had an issueCHARLES T : Not really. The only times I have problems are when I'm shooting in extremely low light at 1.4, but I think a lot of bodies would have problems nailing focus wide open in the dark. I have a T2i/550D, so perhaps on a 7D this problem wouldn't be an issue.LOGAN W : As a whole it as just as good as any other non-canon lens, but it performs fairly poorly in low light conditions.
Shopper : Will this lens work great with a Canon 60D camera?MATTHEW S : Yes. Perfect for 60dTOM J : Yes very well. One of the best lens I've ever ownedNOE C : Absolutely, with it the effective focal length will be about 48mm because of the crop factor, therefore you would have a great 50mm lens!JOSEPH Z : Yes. This is the best 30mm f/1.4 lens for an APS-C DSLR. Great for low-light situations and produces terrific bokeh! One of my favorite lenses.ROBERT P : I can not see why it wouldn't. I use it on a t1i and a 7d. I love this lens for portrait work.PATRICK G : Yes. It's equivalent to about a 50mm lens with the cropped sensor, so if that's what you're looking for its a good lensJames S : Yes, I have this lens mounted to a 60D and it is excellent for still photography and shooting movies.LOGAN W : I use it on a 40d and it works well enough. The autofocus leaves a little to r desired but I attribute that to the lens more than a compatibility issue.THORPE G : It will Definitely work on the Canon 60D! That camera uses the same cropped sensor as all other APS-C Canon bodies. So this lens will actually give you the field of view closer to a true 50mm on a full frame body. In fact, I had the 50mm and sold it to get this lens for use on my 7D. It's a wonderful lens and just might become one that rarely leaves your camera.CHARLES S : I purchased it for a rebel T1i and it works perfectly. Make sure your camera has an image sensor APS-C or it may not fit. Great lens for the value.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?SOHAIL G : This lens had great reviews and takes superb pictures in low light. Sharp around f1.8 upwards. One of my favourite lenses. Works great and well worth the money.KEVIN F : "Superb sharpness, super fast at f1.4. This lens is a terrific value. "KEVIN F : "Superb sharpness, super fast at f1.4. This lens is a terrific value. "KEVIN F : Superb sharpness, super fast at f1.4. This lens is a terrific value.

About Sigma 30mm F/1.4

This large aperture 30mm F1.4 EX DC HSM lens is designed to match the APS-C size image sensors of digital SLR cameras. Two SLD glass elements are especially effective in the compensation of magnification chromatic aberration.

Glass mold aspherical lens at rear group of lens reduces color aberration and provides high-quality image results.

From 40cm (15.7") minimum focusing distance to infinity, this lens creates very sharp images with high contrast.

The HSM models provide quiet high-speed auto-focus shooting, as well as full-time manual focus. Large Maximum Aperture of F1.4 can perform superbly in a great range of applications, including snapshots, portraiture, indoor shooting and landscape photography.

Please Note:
Vignetting will occur if the lens is used with digital cameras with image sensors larger than APS-C size or 35mm SLR cameras.
