The Sigma 30mm f/2.8 DN ART Lens for Sony E-mount Nex Series Cameras (Silver) is standard length prime lens for Sony E-mount cameras. Its focal length is equivalent to a 45mm lens in the 35mm format and its minimum focus distance is 11.8" (30 cm). Its f/2.8 maximum aperture is ideal for shallow depth of field imaging and allows it to maintain sharpness in low light situations. An inner focusing system means the lens does not extend when focusing and its newly developed linear autofocus motor is accurate and quiet.
Sigma's Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting and provides sharp and high contrast images even at the maximum aperture and with two glass molded aspherical elements including a double-sided aspherical element, aberrations are kept to a minimum. The result is accurate color definition and sharp imaging across the frame. A metal exterior provides durability and handsome design.

The only thing that really surprised me about this lens is how small the front element lens; otherwise it's a basic accessory for most any lens toolkit; a fast prime. Bokeh is good and focus speed is fast, and ar 30mm it's the equivalent of 60mm on a full frame camera. All I really wish it could do more of is be faster, a f/1.8 or 1.4 version would be killer.
Olympus E-PM2 was my first micro 4/3 camera and I bought this lens for taking portraits. After giving it a whirl, it seems this lens will be on my camera permanently for all type of photography. I am very happy with the quality of the images.
Love the lens for photo crispness. It's rated better by the photo experts, which I am not. It works well on my Sony NEX-7 camera and is the equvalent of a 55mm lens. Nevertheless, the big downside is its lack of internal stabilization for the NEX cameras which do not have that. Others who have perfected the technique for taking still pictures while walking around may not see that as detrimental. They may keep the f stop cranked up higher than I normally do, so I get a little fuzziness that wouldn't be there if I had gone with a Sony lens with OSS. Next time, I'll take the slightly downrated lens with stabilization built in.
Fine prime lens for e mount sony Speed more than adequate as NEX6 has little noise up to ISO 800 Well made and fits well Somewhat soft at the edges when wide open but center remains sharp throughout
