I have 3 Canon DSLR cameras. I always try to have a camera with me especially when travelling. I bought the Sigma flash so I could also take along a flash with my camera, and don't want to take my more expensive Canon 580 ex II. It is perfect for a back-up flash.

Been using this flash primarily off camera with a wireless remote. Gives me the portability and versatility I need without having to cart around a lot of lights.

This is a great flash for the price. Covers the frame evenly at the advertised range. If you need a TTL flash - this one should definitely be considered. TTL flashes are best used in Auto mode, if you need versatility I wound recommend a non-dedicated flash for use. They are much easier to work with in Manual mode. This flash lacks an LCD screen - which is a PLUS because it conserves battery power since it doesnt have to power one. There is a model with a screen though if you need it.

This is a very good flash. It works great with my Canon XTI camera. It is easy to use and is cheaper than the canon brands. I would buy this flash again.

Good, simple, robust flash. I use it for fill light with portraits, indoor/outdoor night and low-light shots and candids. If you are looking for a simple no-nonsense flash, this is it. It is this simplicity that appeals to me. Others may find this limiting and desire more detailed control. If so, the 530 Super may be a better choice. This flash fires well and has a fast recharge time. Works well with my Canon 5D.

ELECTRONIC FLASH EF-530 DG ST.
EF-530 DG ST features a powerful Guide Number of 174 ft / 53m and is designed to work with the latest TTL auto exposure systems of all popular manufacturers' digital and film SLR cameras.
It features TTL automatic flash exposure control for easy operation. The auto zoom function automatically sets the optimum illumination angle in accordance with the lens' focal length in a range from 24mm to 105mm. When the built-in Wide Panel is used, the flash can cover the angle of 17mm.
For bounce flash, the flashgun head can be tilted up by 90 degrees, to the left by 180 degrees, or to the right by 90 degrees. It can also be tilted down by 7 degrees allowing ease of use for close-up photography. In addition to automatic mode, the flashgun also features a manual flash mode, making it possible to set the flash power level to full or 1/16.
When the flashgun is fully charged, a confirmation "ready" light will be emitted and the flash exposure level can be checked through the cameras viewfinder. Other features incorporated into this flashgun include the Auto Power-Off function to help save battery power.
