Good Decision

If you own an SD-14 or SD-15, buying this is a good decision to make: holds two Li50 equivalent batteries, doesn't need to be removed to rotate in a fresh spare, and for those of us that wish cameras would retain a little more space for your hands to grip without inadvertently interfering with other controls; it's a godsend - and compared to other grips for other cameras [because it's always best to go with OEM], it's reasonably priced.

Expensive, but it works.

This is the price you have to pay for the Foveon technology. There is no aftermarket generic battery grip for any Sigma camera. Too bad the market is too small for generic company to make one. It took me almost a year to purchase this battery grip, because it is too expensive. If you really are interested with Foveon technology, this one will be a very good optional accessory. It would be better Sigma could add more features on this battery grip. Well, you have no choice. This is the one for your Sigma SD15.

Sigma PG-21 is worth it!

The PG-21 is a battery grip that allows the user more to hold on to (for those with big hands), additional battery life (if you use two batteries), and portrait shutter release. It's simple, affordable and works without flaw. I'm a "brand guy". I don't care to mix third party accessories with my gear, so a proprietary grip for less than $200 is a winner in my book.

Sigma PG-21 Battery Power Grip

It's perfect for what I need in a battery grip. It has a shutter release button, and on/off switch. It lacks other controls, but I can live with that. Feel great in my hand, and rubberized coating grips nicely in sweaty palms.

A must for Sigma users

The Sigma battery power grip makes the camera much more user friendly. With the grip attached, the camera body is much easier to handle, especially when using larger lenses. The additional shutter button on the right side of the grip allows for easier use in portrait position. I use the battery grip on all five of my Sigma bodies. Another bonus when using a grip is that adding the extra battery more than doubles the total battery life. This occurs because using two batteries instead of one lowers the overall heat produced when the batteries are in use. Less heat allows longer power duration.

This grip improves everything

All four of my older Sigmas have battery grips, and I decided to use my newest SD15 without a grip. It didn't take me long to realize how much I missed having a power grip. Not having to change batteries was certainly a plus, but even more importantly the camera is much easier to handle with the grip attached, especially when using a zoom lens. The extra shutter button on the grip, which is used when shooting in portrait position, is a huge plus.

A must have item.

A must have item for SD14 or SD15 users. Gives a professional feeling to a mostly plastic camera. Balances out the weight with big Sigma lenses. The battery door could be a bid more rugged but just be careful.

2.5x battery life... Somehow.

It is actually very well designed, it will function with just a single battery in either compartment, or two filling both. While I have not used the extra shutter button since I made a hand strap which prohibits its use, I can say that it is a welcome addition. As a bizarre added bonus, when you put two batteries together, you seem to get 2.2x~2.5x the battery life of a single battery. I believe this is because of well designed load balancing. Do be aware that while empty, this grip doesn't add much of any weight but with two batteries your camera will become somewhat heavy (hence the hand strap).

Good thing if you really need one

Well made. Hard to get battery door open if there is a tripod quick- attach plate screwed on bottom of grip unit.

Ah, progress!

I'm comparing this to my SD10 power pack with 8 half-dead, rechargeable AAs; unloading and loading in a kayak every hour. This is the same gizmo, functionally, but what joy long-lasting, easy-to-handle lithium batteries have brought.
