Shopper : Do these come with the C-10X or the newer C-10S ball head?KENNETH K : C-10XJonathan Q : Mine came with the c10x but I bought it in 2014.
BREWER, K : I have a Canon 5D Mk III. It's not the lightest DSLR. I often use my Canon 100-400mm lens, which has a neck collar tripod mount to offset some of the forward weight. Would this tripod support that get-up?JOE L : Yes and no...It's very sturdy for it's size, but not AS solid as a larger tripod. For me, the shorter height and a little less stability were worth the trade off for the best built/sturdiest and smallest tripod there is that doesn't become cumbersome. I tried a lot of these travel friendly ones. Either they were wobbly, a bit too large for not getting in the way, or small but still weighed too much. This one really hit the sweet spot, but I'm not sure about the weight of that lens/body setup. I mean it wouldn't fall - it can handle more than the list weight - I'd think if anything using the tripod collar and that setup would act as downward pressure to keep things steadier than say using a very lightweight setup. Regardless, I always use the hook to add a little weight to the tripod's base (nothing extra, maybe just a cloth lens case with a rock..or lens in it) just in case. And I try not to fully extend the legs if possible so it's a little lower than I'm used to. But I shoot primarily long night exposures so I'm talking really steady.WENDY K : I also have a 5D Mark III, but I have never tried mounting it to this tripod. I bought the tripod for a mirrorless camera I have. The specs say the load capacity is 13.2lbs, which your camera and lens should be under. However, the plate is very small. I love this tripod for a number of reasons (size, weight, functionality, etc.), but I'm not sure its the best tripod for a 5D Mark III and a long lens.DONALD S : I would advise against this tripod for your setup. First, it is very short without the fixed center column. It is shown in the photo without the center column attached. When attached it cannot be adjusted. Without it the tripod is very short and the last leg sections are quite flimsy. It is incredibly light but for your setup I believe you would be very disappointed. This tripod would be excellent for a smaller body and lighter lens.KENNETH K : It will handle about 15 lbs with no problem.WILLIAM C : The T-025x+C-10 rated load capacity is about 15 lbs so, nominally, it can handle a 7 lb load. The largest that I have tested is a 5.5 lb load with tripod collar. The T-025x+C-10 can hold a Canon 5DMk2 with 70-200 F4L without a tripod collar. This is only 3.5 lbs but, because it is unbalanced, it is a challenging load. I clip my camera bag to the base of the center post to lower the center of gravity and would definitely do this with a 7 lb load. A G-10 ball-head would add only 0.3 lb, and would provide independent control of friction and locking and in a more robust head.
BREWER, K : Does the quoted weight (1.9 lbs) include the weight of the ball head?KENNETH K : Yes the ball head is .4 lbs and the tripod is about 1.5 lbs..WILLIAM P : I have not weighed the T-025X (including the ball head) but I believe the weight Does include the ball head (which is very light in itself). By the way, I have used this trip pod for about a year now and have taken it to several trip in other continents and have been very satisfied with itJOHN S : Yes- the stated weight is for the legs and head.WILLIAM C : Yes. My T-025x weighs 1.4 lbs without the C10 ball-head and 1.9 lbs with the C10 and plate. My carry sleeve and carabiner for attaching weight bring it to almost 2.1 lbs. The T-025x+C-10 can safely hold a Canon 5DMk2 with 80-200 F4L, although outdoor shooting often requires weight clipped to the base of the center post. Although I have a much better tripod and head, they get used much less because they are over 3X the weight and are much less compact. The T-025x+C-10 has also made my old mono-pod obsolete - the Sirui is only 0.3 lbs heavier, can work as a monopod, and offers the flexibility of a tripod. The main downside is that people over 5'10" have to stand astride or stoop to use this tripod. The G-10 ball-head, for only an extra 0.3 lb, adds the convenience of separating the friction and locking knobs..GERRY H : Yes, the ball head is part of this tripod. Incidentally, this is a great item. It is extremely light weight and folds small enough to go inside a very small backpack. There are similar-looking tripods of aluminum, but they are heavier. The quality of construction of this Sirui is excellent. I left my Canon DSLR and three L lenses at home and took only a Sony RX100 m2 and this tripod on a trip to Europe last year. What a good move!DAVID W : I think it includes the ball head. It is very light and small. I love it.

Bit fragile and perhaps poor quality control

I ordered one and had to return it. The leg stuck and in turning enough to get it to come out, the whole leg fell out. Two plastic pieces fell out with it and of course it didn't work properly after that. After a week that leg segment simply stopped working. I noticed that this tripod had oil all over it. However, it is the lightest tripod that didn't have lots of bad reviews, so I ordered another one and hoped the one I had was a fluke. The new one is not oily, giving me hope that I was correct. However, I will try to constantly be careful to never over-open the legs. These are working more easily than the legs on the first one. It is easy to think you've locked the legs when you haven't so check by testing it before you put your camera on it. The safety pin in the ballhead is a nice feature. This was one of the reasons I decided to try again. The ballhead is easy to operate. The carrying bag is nice. It has a discreet, subtle design. There aren't many tripods that fold up this small and weigh this little, of key importance with rigorous hiking. I use an X-T20. With a telephoto lens it is slightly under 3 lbs.

Sirui T-025x Carbon fiber tripod with C-10 Ball Head

I love this tripod. It is very light and folds down to 11.5 inches. As light as it is, it is very sturdy. It is perfect for travel, hiking, packing in my scooter trunk, or camping. It extends out to a 54 some odd inches.

Excellent piece of equipment

I am very pleased with the Sirui T-025x Carbon Fiber Tripod. It is incredibly light and fits nicely attached to to the outside of my camera bag. It is very sturdy with my Nikon 300-18 zoom lens attached to my Nikon DX camera. I have no complaints, except I attached a bubble level with epoxy adhesive to the rear of the mount platform to guide me through the balancing act the ball head leads me through, especially since I never used a ball head before. It gives me a lateral level reference when there is no or little horizon in view. There's a learning curve adjusting a heavy camera with a heavy lens to a ball head. But the process of adjusting camera to subject with the T-o25x becomes second nature once it's mastered.

Perfect Travel Tripod

I needed a travel tripod to take on a flight. It has to be compact and light. I researched for weeks and decided on this Sirui T-025x. This easily fits inside my daypack. I'd rather not walk around in some areas with a tripod strapped to my pack. I do not like to advertise I have a camera bag. I do have another tripod but it would be too bulky to take on flights and carrying on my travels. This Sirui fits the bill.

Sirui T-025x Carbon Fiber Tripod

I ordered this tripod last year and I am very satisfied with it. My purpose in buying this tripod is for travel to the Philippines this Summer but I tried it several times during my granddaughter's school programs and it serves my need for a small but sturdy and lightweight tripod. Anyone who needs a light and small tripod, you can't go wrong with Siriui T-025 tripod.

It meets most of the criteria I wanted, very light weight, folds very short and decent height

It meets most of the criteria I wanted, very light weight, folds very short and decent height. Holds my Canon 5D M3, but wobbly if touched. Unfortunately, it was shipped without a quick release plate, but Adorama shipped me one separately, even though it was for a different brand of camera.

Not a fan of twist and lock

I needed a lightweight tripod for travel. After doing extensive research and reading reviews, I decided to go with the Sirui T-025x. This tripod might work for those who are strong and fast with their fingers but it's not for me. It takes way too long to twist and lock. By the time everything is set up, my palm is raw in the cold. The plate is flimsy and gets very loose. In portrait mode with a 5D Mark iii 24-70mm lens, the camera is sliding. The only two good thing about this tripod are compact and weight. Back to my trusty Manfrotto.

Wonderful travel tripod

So far I'm very happy with tripod. Just as advertised. Bought it for a Sony mirrorless but I have a Nikon D7000 also and I think it will be fine for that as well.

Perfect for Mirrorless Cameras!!

I took this all over Europe with my X-T1 and it was small and lightweight and did exactly what I needed it to do. It's so tiny but really stable and much lighter than the other micro tripods I ordered and returned. This is my 2nd Sirui tripod, and you get a ton of value in terms of weight and quality with them that you pay double for in the big tripod brands.

Not a good match for me

I will preface this review with the comment that my particular needs/limitations have affected this review, and while I've concluded that this isn't a good tripod for me, it might well be the right tripod for someone else. I'm relatively new to photography (and even newer to the experience of using tripods). I was looking for something lightweight because I have a bad back and a torn rotator cuff. I also travel a fair bit and so a tripod that packs up small was appealing, too. Naturally, I gravitated to a well-regarded travel tripod like this one. Unfortunately, the T-025X isn't Mr Right Tripod for me. I neglected to consider a very important feature of this design that makes it hard for me to use. Setting up and using this tripod requires a lot of twisting, tightening, and untightening (e.g., leg position and ball head movement). I have pre-arthritic hands, as well as a severed tendon in one finger that weakens my grip to some extent. I'm also, frankly, a klutz and not very mechanically adept. So I spent far too much time trying to set this tripod up, and then had a hard time shifting the camera into position to frame the shots I wanted to take. It was particularly tough in cool weather, when my hands got stiffer. Also, I found that the quick release plate you attach to the bottom of the camera had a tendency to get loose fairly quickly, especially if I set the camera in portrait mode. (Maybe because I couldn't clamp it tight enough, but my strong and mechanically adept husband had trouble with it, too.) I also found it fairly fiddly to set the camera (with plate attached) onto the tripod and/or to remove it. Finally, the tripod felt a bit too unstable for my camera set-up (Pentax K-3 with Sigma 17-70 lens). I just wasn't confident that it would tilt or fall. So, all in all, this tripod was just too hard for me to work with. I think it would suit people who a) have nimbler fingers, b) are mechanically adept or more accustomed to working with tripods, c) are looking for a supplementary tripod for travel (not their regular, workhorse tripod), and d) have a fairly light set-up. I replaced it with a Manfrotto 055CX3 and a 327RC2 joystick ball head - much more expensive but so much easier for me to use.

It's like a little jewel!

I have been searching for a smaller, lighter tripod for some time. I am very impressed with the fine construction and finish of the Sirui T-025x. It's like a little jewel. Many "travel" tripods I looked at were still too big and heavy. I use a large carbon-fiber tripod for HDR landscapes, slow shutter work with ND filters, and some timelapse. I am very pleased with the small size and light weight of this Sirui T-025x. I'm taking a European trip and wanted to keep it inside my backpack, not strapped to the outside. Like they say about a camera, "The best tripod is the one you have with you," and this one will be easy to keep with me everywhere. I'm very happy with this one.

The Sirui T-025x Carbon Fiber Tripod with C-10 Ball Head is a compact, lightweight and stylish black, carbon fiber tripod with included head. With upward-folding legs, it collapses to just 11.8" with the head attached and weighs just 1.5 lb. Supporting loads up to 13.2 lb, this support is capable of holding DSLR cameras with most lenses and is ideal for compact and mirrorless cameras and camcorders.

The T-025x features twist locks for easy setup and each leg has and automatic leg angle lock mechanism for speed and convenience. A removable center column allows for table-top and low angle shooting as low as 4.3" with the ball head. When fully extended, the tripod reaches a maximum height of 54.5" with the head attached. The C-10 is an extremely capable ball head - its separate knobs for pan and tilt adjustments enable you to perform tasks such as panoramic photography while keeping the tilt locked.
