Gives perfect settings every time for lighting and when used in conjunction with the camera's own metering system, the results are fantastic!

This is a great meter calculates light ratios from flash as well as ambient. While you can make the argument that adjustments can be made after you take the picture there is a lot to be said about getting it right the first time and this meter will give you the perfect ratio you are looking for and the correct settings. Combine it with a profile card and you have perfect pictures every time. If you get the radio card you can control pocket wizard enabled flash from the meter. If you are considering a meter this is an excellent meter to have. Only thing I have a negative on is that the writing is white on a silver body so you need to be familiar with the buttons or in a darkened studio you may not be able to read them.

Heard great things about it & excited to get one myself. Have yet to fully put it to the test, but will definitely post a follow up review afterwards.

I no longer rely on the camera's meter to give me exposure readings. The Sekonic is more accurate. Almost every shot I take has the right exposure. I wish I had purchased a light meter years ago.

I am still learning, but have quickly learned the light meter really gets perfect exposure. too many times have I been disappointed by my in camera meter, but the sekonic 358 is spot on. Oh and the Adorama TV tutorial really helped. I love watching Adorama TV - I feel like I know you guys and I am all the way in Texas!!

Great tool, tried it in a wide range of apertures and shutter speeds, in very low and very bright light, it always delivers consistent results. I've made several purchases from Adorama, always timely deliveries and products as described.

This product is a little expensive but well worth the money. Getting my exposure and ratio's accurate are much easier now. Using the product is dead simple and you will be up and running with it almost immediately. ( Don't forget the Adorama TV videos where they use this device )

the L-385 fits in the hand perfectly. In addition, the L-385 is a compliment to the in-camera mteter... it can zero-in on the just the image of interest thus providing an outstanding exposure. The L-385 is great for portraits in solely ambient light or with flash supplement. With the transmitter insert, it can be used with the Pocket Wizard ! Sekonic has a winner.

This light meter is super accurate and easy to use. it can even be set up with pocket wizards. It is pricy but you get what you paid for. Must have for anyone using studio lighting.

This is a Must for anyone that is serious about light. Next to my L series lenses this is the best investment I have made. Buy it and it will help you take your photography to the next level.

I never realized how far off my camera metering was until using this meter. This has made a HUGE difference in the quality of my images and I HIGHLY recommend it. To those photographers that feel no meter is needed I would recommend you try this and see that your images are much better.

I am very satisfied with this light meter. it is easy to use and is accurate. i worry a bit about the construction, but, so far, it's withstood my abuse. Small enough to fit into my camera bag with its protective case.

I have not used light meters in the past. I read reviews about this one and felt it would be the best for the type photography I do. It has not disappointed me. For the price I don't think I could have done better.

The L-358 makes working with lighting much more enjoyable and less time consuming. Also, thank you Adorama for the youtube videos "Digital Photography One on One". Excellent resource when learning about exposure and how to use a light meter.

Like many people, I've been in camera metering for years. It's fast, it works, and with a little bracketing, it gets the job done. This meter is easy to use, and has become a key part of my studio work and my digital kit. I finally made the jump after buying studio mono-lights and a Calumet 4x5 view camera. Trust me when I say, if you've never used a light meter to dial in the perfect exposure before, you'll love the change.

This meter does everything I need. Manual is confusing, had to learn on the job how to use all it's features.

I am new to this but did a lot of research. Everywhere that saw anything about flash meters, they all said Sekonic was the best, so I did more research. I was able to figure it out by myself and a few videos that Adorama has on YouTube. At first I was confused, because it's called a "Flash Meter" but for the novice like me, it's named that but reads ambient light. I used it outside and inside with continuous softbox lights. At first also I couldn't figure out how to change the f-stops and then figured out that it's done where the batteries are kept. I don't know what the more costly one do but this one for the price is great!!! I used mine to take pictures of items for sale and the exposures were perfect! Great buy for the novice and the expert.

The supurb performance of the built-in Nikon reflective light meters almost obviate the need for this device- almost -but not quite. I use it when the cameras light meter is being snookered and I use to set my home studio lights. It is great for both applications. It is easy to use and very accurate. I got the PW module with it but haven't used it yet (and probably really don't need it!)

Accurate exposure every time
By MICHAEL M.
A pro photographer friend who's been coaching me on making better photographs suggested I get a light meter. Of course my 7D already has a meter, but I borrowed one of his and found I was getting much better exposures more consistently. So I bought the same one he uses, the Sekonic L-358. It's a great little meter and easy to use. The only hard part is figuring out how to clear out the memory function (there are a few button press combos that aren't obvious, but they're seldom used.) For st...

The Sekonic L-358 Flash Master is an advanced, yet easy to operate, exposure analyzing light meter, that incorporates the latest technology in handheld meters. The L-358 features a retractable incident Lumisphere for standard or cosine corrected light readings, provides both hemispherical and narrow angle readings. Measurements can be taken in either incident or flash metering modes with accurate and convenient flash and ambient analyzing.
In all electronic flash measurements, an analyzing feature simultaneously evaluates both flash and ambient light and displays the values in three ways: a) combined readings of flash and ambient, b) percentage of flash in the total exposure or c) simultaneous display of flash, ambient and combined readings on the analog scale. An easy-to-read illuminated LCD panel directly displays full, 1/2 or 1/3-stop shutter speeds or apertures and exposure/calibration compensation. Selecting settings is quick and easy with the built-in Jog wheel and cine shutter speeds up to 360 frames per second makes the L-358 a versatile tool in the most demanding lighting scenario. Optional spot finders extend the versatility of the meter with a choice of 1, 5 or 10 degree measuring angles with a viewable parallax-free viewfinder.
The L-358 Sekonic Flash Master incorporates the world's first optional internal Digital Radio Transmitter Module compatible with Sekonic and PocketWizard Digital Radio Receivers, which eliminates the need for an additional external transmitter at the meters position.
