Good Value - Strong Tripod
I used to have one of the SLIK Able tripods about 15 years ago, and I gave it to my brother-in-law. I had been perfectly happy with it back then.
Well, I had gotten a more expensive Manfrotto after that and unfortunately the center column release broke(still usable, but with difficulty)...moreover, it was not particularly stable and I was tired of the four piece leg system.
So, to replace it I came back to something I knew worked very well...the SLIK Able. It is a bit heavier than my Manfrotto...but to me that is a big positive as I am often shooting in a breezy Great Lakes environment.
I've found my shots coming out sharper, without question, and I haul it around with me for several hours at a time with no trouble, even though it's heavier.
The twist knobs(instead of levers) are no big deal to me, and I've found it sets up a little quicker anyway since it only has two per leg as opposed to three on my other tripod.
- BTW, the legs move very freely, even in a sandy environment, unlike my other one.
You probably wont find a better value for a new tripod considering how strong this Able is.
CONS: (not for me) A little heavier.
Twist knobs.
PROS: Very strong and stable.
3 piece legs instead of 4 for quicker set-up.
Low cost.

Good quality for the price
I'm trying to start a jewelry business on line, and this tripod has helped a great deal in getting my photos just right!

Great Tripod
This tripod is rather heavy but thats what makes it great. It is very easy to set up, once set it is very stable and easy to adjust. So much better than the cheap alternatives.

I really love my tripod. Its just alittle heavy.
