Slik Pro 700DX AMT-Titanium Alloy Tripod with 3-Way Pan Head (Maximum Height 74.8", Supports up to 15 lbs) with Case.

About Slik PRO

SLIK's exclusive A.M.T. super titanium alloy legs make the PRO 700 DX tripod rock steady yet lighter than it looks. The A. M. T. alloy has a 40% greater strength to weight ration than standard aluminum, meaning the legs are lighter weight yet stronger than the standard metal used in most of today's tripods.

Capable of handling the weight of large format (4x5) field cameras or heavy, long telephoto lenses, The PRO 700 DX offer professional photographers and advanced amateurs the strength and stability they need while its size, and the use of A. M. T. alloy, make it lighter weight and more portable than THE PROFESSIONAL series.

A tripod should be easy to use, so that that you spend more time concentrating on your photography than you do your equipment. The PRO 700 DX makes setting up easy with secure yet fast speed release leg locks, gearless center column, and 3 position adjustable angle leg locks for easy set up on uneven ground or steps. The adjustable angle locks combined with the PRO 700 DX Short Column (optional accessory) allow the tripod to be lowered to just 15 inches for very low angle, or macro photography in the field.

The included PRO 700 DX all-metal 3-way pan head has one of the fasted and easiest to use quick release plates in the industry. SLIK made a circular quick release plate that can secure the camera to the tripod pointing in any direction, making attaching your camera (once the SLIK quick release plate is attached) more intuitive than most other heads that have squared off or angled plates.

Value, today it's more important then ever. Compare the price and features of the PRO 700 DX to other manufacturer's professional camera supports and you will see that dollar for dollar and feature for feature, this is one of the best values in a professional tripod available.

The tripod is heavy enough hiking photographers won't likely go for it, but for those who don't mind the seven-plus pounds as a trade-off for an exceptional and beautifully performing tripod, it is absolutely the cat's meow! Get one, quick! You'll be glad you did....

Solid base but whimpy panhead

Solid base but panhead doesn't work for camcorders. Lots of levels and controls on panhead, but pan/tilt mechanism is very rough. The small pan/tilt control handle is totally inadequate even when the extension piece from the level control is used. Probably good for still photography but not suitable for camcorders.

Great value and no it's not too heavy.

from Fort myers,FL  -  Pro Photographer

Pro Photographer. I love the extra tall range as I shoot architecture.

Great purchase

from Deerfield Beach, FL  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I loved this tripod, isn't that heavy as some people say.

Solid, well-made, performs

from Northern Virginia  -  Photo Enthusiast

It's a quality product and worth every penny. Very smooth pan. Versatile with three different leg settings, I particularly enjoy the ability to reverse the center-beam for close-in macro-shooting and document archiving. Bottom line is. . why put an expensive camera and lens on a flimsy base? Perfect for me; someone not a pro but looking to get more serious about photography. Some have complained that it is a bit heavy and that's true. . but it's good heavy and who wants a tripod that can get tipped or blown over? To me it speaks quality. A great buy!

Love it

from Fort Myers, Fl.  -  Photo Enthusiast

I really good product and price

Nice Solid Platform

from Peoria, AZ  -  Photo Enthusiast

I use this for landscape photography, and HDR work. It's tall enough, solid, and not too heavy to carry on a trail, although I wouldn't want to take it more than a few miles. The maximum weight it will support is 5 Kilograms, or 11 pounds, so your 400mm 2.8 is to heavy for this unit. I like the dual levels, no more off kilter photographs!

from rhode island  -  Casual Photographer

Adorama site was most helpful in selecting this tripod combo. Lots of helpful information and video. Prices are right on, also.

Excelant tripod for the money

from Lockport, NY  -  Photo Enthusiast

This tripod is as good or better than alot of the higher priced ones i have looked at. Its smooth and easy to set up, the lever style leg locks hold solid as does the center coloum, very sturdy. I am six foot and with the center coloum all the way down its the perfect hight for me, no hunching over. I like the wieght of it, some people have said it is heavy, but I think it feels sturdier, doesnt feel like it will blow over in a breeze. I would not hesitate to recomend this to anyone. Definitly happy with this puchase

Great value in an awesome tripod!

from Brownstown, Mi  -  Photo Enthusiast

Don't trust your expensive equipment to an inferior tripod, that could cost a lot in the long run

Everything I hoped it would be

from Midwest  -  Photo Enthusiast

I have used this product to shoot landscapes, and for panning. It has a very smooth swivel for panning, and is very sturdy for long exposures. It is extremely well built. While it is a bit heavy, I like the solid feel of it.

Slik Pro 780

from Aurora, CO  -  Semi-pro Photographer

This product arrived this afternoon but I can tell already i am going to be fine with it. I am an older guy but find the units solid build to be very beneficial. I will be packing this around all the time, often at 10,000 + ft altitudes. It is not that heavy. Will be using on landscapes as well as wildlife photography. I need to have a piece that is durable and stable. This tripod certainly fills the bill. Since the legs have nice foam guards on them it will be easier to shoulder as well spread out the legs on those days that are frozen and below. Slik tripods have been in my inventory for over 40 years. Looks like they will stay there that much longer.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Chuck H  Needed a sturdy mount for my Sony A77 with a Sony G-series 70/400 zoom. Together they weigh about 8 lbs. This might be the best tripod in its price range.
Lee P  Can I add a pistol grip and if so, which one/model?
Andrew R  A pistol grip style head would need to be purchased separately. All of the pistol grip style heads that we currently offer may be found here:
William A  will this tripod pan head pan below level? the tripod I currently have only scans to level but will not go below that. If something I want to see or photo is below eye level I have to lower the front leg of the tripod.
TIMOTHY B  Yes it pans below level.
William A  Thank you. I was trying to view something that was about 30 yards in front of me at eye level with my current tripod and I could not without lowering legs. It sounds like this tripod and head will allow me to do that.
