This Tripod is rock solid and inspires confidence. I only wish I had bought it sooner. This Slik Pro 4 (619975) Tripod has exceeded my expectations in every respect. Stability and size were my primary requirements. I am an architectural photographer. Long multiple exposures are the rule not the exception. The least bit of vibration or instability reduces the sharpness of layered images and creates processing headaches. I also sometimes need altitude. This Tripod gets TALL. Like over 8 feet TALL. But with the (highly recommended) short column option, it can go down to 9" low. I use it with a Manfrotto 405 gear head and Manfrotto 438 compact leveling mount, which are also no lightweights. The combined outfit will make a mule groan at 15+ lbs. But, it looks and performs PROFESSIONAL GRADE in every way. Although you will rarely need to raise the center column, it is made incredibly stable with the included dual locking collars at the top and bottom of the bracket. The leg angle locks also have a precise feel and a satisfying steely click. The big rubber twist locks feel very secure and loosen and tighten with only a quarter turn. Because of the tripods dimensions, you rarely need to extend more than one or two leg sections which means it is that much more solid. It is of course 11+ pounds before you add a head. But, compared to it's Carbon Fiber brother the Slik Professional 4 CF, it is $700 less with nearly identical specs. The trade off is an added 3 pounds of weight to lift and carry. Personally, I decided to save that $700. and time at the Rec. Center by combining my photography and workout time. So there you have it. Save time and money and get great shots all while burning calories and adding muscle.
