Shopper : will this work with a spotting scope?KEVIN C : I don't know the answer to that, sorry.James R : It's currently holding steady a pair of Fujinon 16x70 binoculars, and they are not exactly lightweight.MAX P : Without knowing more about the spotting scope, I can't say with 100% certainty. But so long as the spotting scope has a mount which will accept a 1/4" - 20 thread mounting screw it should work. Also keep in mind, per the specifications for the head of this tripod it will hold up to 11.0 lbs of equipment. I use my tripod for photography purposes and have been very happy with it stability and ease of use.

Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?TERRY P : Great multi-purpose tripod with versatile head. Looks like they are not making/stocking this set-up anymore. I like it better than the current 7000dx - or whatever. The adjustable drag does really help on this head. It's not as good as a true video head, of course. But it is a great photo head that can be used for video in a pinch for 8-10 pound rigs. Sometime you just want to travel light.WILLIAM D : It got best of class review in Pop Photo magazine. Only misgiving is in the case that it came with. In order for the tripod to fit into the case it handles(arms) have to be disconnected. Functionally I am pleased with it.

Good quality / ease of use.

good quality as I would expect from Slik. This is a replacement for my 30+ year old universal U-212 Slik tripod, that finally had a broken piece of plastic for one of the legs. I am pleased with the overall quality, the only change I would like to see would be to make left/right adjustments easier.

Great tripod

I love this tripod. The head is perfect for video panning. I use it for photos as well with good results. It is very sturdy and holds my d7100 with 300mm lens without difficulty. It is a little heavy to carry on long treks, but great for studio and landscape work.

A lot of tripod for the money.

This is a sturdy and well made tripod. A soft carrying case is included. The center column can be inverted for macro shots close to the ground. My only complaint is that the bubble level it has is on the camera mount. I would rather have it on the tripod base, to aid in setting the center column vertical. I don't need a level on the camera mount because my camera has a built-in level.

The PRO 500 HD was created for DSLR's that have HD video recording capability. The SH-736HD is a smooth-moving fluid effect 2-way pan head with quick release for easy mounting and removal of a DSLR, video camera or camera. This all-metal head is specifically designed for photo and video use. The 2-way pan head moves in two directions like a professional video head.

The SH-736HD has pan and tilt drag controls that are separate from the pan/tilt handle locks. This allows the photographer to fine-tune the tightness of the movement based on the weight of the camera and lens. The head can hold up to 11.0 lbs of equipment.

SLIK's exclusive A.M.T. super Aluminum-Magnesium-Titanium alloy legs make the PRO 500 HD tripod very steady. The A.M.T. alloy has a 40% greater strength to weight ratio than standard aluminum. This makes the legs lighter and stronger than the standard metal used in most tripods.

This full sized tripod has 3 leg sections to collapse down to just over 27 inches. The PRO 500 HD makes setting up easy with secure, speed-release leg locks. Padded leg wraps make the tripod more comfortable to carry. 3-position, multi-angle leg locks allow easy set-up on uneven ground or steps.

The PRO 500 HD has a gearless center column that unscrews into two pieces converting the top piece into a short column. This feature combined with the adjustable leg angle locks allow the tripod to be lowered to about 14 inches for very low angle or macro photography in the field.
