Does the Job

The post is a piece of a Slik tripod system. If you use multiple cameras to shoot you can very quickly detach and attach a camera to a tripod by having multiple posts, one for each camera you need to mount on the tripod, already attached to your camera. Not really that different from other plate and clamp tripod systems but smaller, easier, and less expensive to do than for many other tripod systems.

I found a slik tripod at a flea market, but it did not have the quick release post,I like the sturdiness of the slik tripod and the tiny size of the release post, the down side is its easy to misplace

This was purchased for my fathers tripod. This piece was missing and he wasnt sure if it could be fixed. Thanks to Adorama Camera I found exactly what I was looking quickly and affordably. Pops is now happy with his "new" tripod.

Excellent Quality

from Portland, OR  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I have had a Slik Universal 212 Deluxe for better than 16 years and find it to be a very stable and reliable tripod. I like the fact that the head can be removed from the top of the column and placed on an attachment point on either one of the legs or the bottom end of the column. This makes it good for getting down low to the ground. As I am 6'2" the column extends to a comfortable height for me to use. The only drawback to it is that at six (6) pounds, it is rather heavy, so carrying it around in the field can be a bit tiring.

Questions about this item:

Debra R  I just purchased a used Slik U212 tripod. I am a beginner and I thought it would come with all the parts however, it did not come with a way to attach my camera. Is this the part I need to attach the camera to this tripod?
MARCIA L  Yes, I do believe this is what you are looking for. It's always good to have an extra one in case you lose it, too! The threading goes into the camera (with the camera upside-down) and then drops into the tripod and locks into place.
