Wouldn’t have dreamed how amazing these work with my Anamorphot 2.0x - 50. I have had nothing but beautiful images from this combo.

Very Disappointing

I have used Canon 2-element achromatic close-up lenses (250D and 500D) for many years, and they yield excellent image quality corner-to-corner, better than single element close-up lenses. I got the SLR-Magic 2-element achromatic close-up lenses mainly for the +1.3 diopter, to increase my working distance from 20" to 30" when shooting close-ups of butterflies. However, the lenses were very disappointing, for 2 reasons: (1) The optical quality of the +1.3 diopter, when used with my Canon 200-300mm "butterfly" lenses, was very poor (I didn't test the 0.33 lens). The center of the image was significantly softer than with the Canon 500D, and the edges were downright blurry. Not useable at all for my purposes. (2) The SLR-Magic c/u lenses had a noticeable pinkish-beige tint that threw off the white balance. A custom white balance was needed for every lighting situation. I'm not sure what these close-up lenses were designed for, but I would not recommend them for use on "traditional" cameras. I have returned them to Adorama.

The SLR Magic Achromatic Diopter Set . Comprises +0.33 and +1.3 diopters, both with 77mm diameter thread.

Advanced achromatic diopters are designed to provide greater close-up and magnification capability. Particularily suited to zoom video lenses, maintainingzoom capabilities without compromising image quality.

An Achromatic Diopter is essential whenever it is necessary to focus tightly on a small subject with a long lens - in tabletop, miniature and flat field photography.

Reduced working distance offers a range of shooting possibilities. Exceptional, crisp cinematography of small objects like jewellery is now possible.
