great idea if you only use the bravia link

exited to have both Bravia internet link and Bravia DVD behind my XBR4; 52 but disappointed because they will not host one another. you must disconnect one to use the other :-( bad programing/software. but very satisfied with usability and function love Sony

Sony Bravia streaming video

Netflix streaming is excellent. I'm using Verizon Fios. Video quality is near DVD quality, no stuttering, pause and resume, fast forward all work great. You would not know you are streaming across the internet.

nice option but needs wi-fi

while i love streaming movies from amazon on demand (or netflix if u have it) wi-fi would have been nice. i connected it over my powerline with a poe device from netgear. so add $150 + to the price of this. it came with my TV and with amazon credits so i'm happy with it. i do NOT watch a lot of movies and other then christmas day have never had a movie interrupted due to throughput. i have comcast high speed internet

Failure by Sony

The cons should speak for itself on how much of a failure of a device this is. You would think the vast power of the internet gives this device so much potential, but it fails on the most important element which is content, or lack thereof. As the majority of the reviews have stated, you have been warned.

Worth a Second Look

I was a bit concerned about the negative reviews when I decided to buy it. However, the module actually works pretty well and especially well for streaming Netflix movies. We have standard cable internet access but the movies played without a hitch and looked just as good as standard DVD's. The asking price is a bit high but you can get it for a lot less on EBAY.

Tech OK, content poor

This should allow for more freeform web browsing than scanning old movie trailers, marketing junk and a very poor AP news selection. Lately I can't even get the weather to load and the news content is seldom updated, except for entertainment and sports. This could be a terriffic way to start the day with news and weather you can select to read, but it isn't kept fresh, Netflix is great but on XBox, you can do all your Instant Queue work; here you have to do it from the computer. ???

very unusable UI and disastrous performance. I regret buying this piece of ... . No wonder sony is losing market share fast, deserves to.. They need to refund every buyer who bought this product .

Great for Netflix customers

This unit was included with my Sony 46" TV. I had limited use for it until Nov. 2009, when Netflix was added as a choice. This an excellent implementation of this application. You just manage your instant watching Queue on your PC, and those choices are easily accessible on the TV menu. The actual movie viewing has been flawless to date. Sony needs to add PBS video next.

1 star only

I like this product for the content it offers but its really slow and then after downloading a movie from Amazon video, this thing will slow down then randomly reboot in the middle of the movie and display the "Bravia Internet Link" splash boot up screen. And then I have to resume the movie again. I would not mind if this happens once in a blue moon, but it happens with every movie I've downloaded. And the PC to TV internet link only works with Windows and with Firefox 2.0 and IE 6. I'm on Firefox 3.5, don't expect me to use an older technology browser. And IE is up to revision 8, I would expect some sort of support on this with new browsers.

Great concept, still a way to go.

I recently purchased a clearance KDL-46WL140 from Costco which happen to come with the BRAVIA® Internet Video Link Module. Surprisingly it came with a $80 voucher for Amazon on Demand Beta. You have to read all the brochures carefully because it is not well advertised that you get a free voucher. If you set up your TV online via Sony and Amazon it is much easier (i.e., MAC address, TV information, etc.) Most of the free content is average or poor quality that is accessible (i.e., YouTube). However, I use it primarily for the movie rentals from Amazon on Demand. This feature is AWESOME. There are HD and regular movies that you can rent for 24 Hours or purchase. Because it is Amazon the customer service is great if you encounter an issue and the quality of the HD movies is fantastic. You can't beat $4.99 for a new HD rental in the comfort of your home. I hope that Amazon on Demand is here to stay and continually improves and that the overall content increases because I like the concept. I have the BRAVIA® Internet Video Link Module connected directed to my home network.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY I tested this for 4 hours on a 15mb Brighthouse line. Direct hookup not on wireless. This is made to work on Sony's XBR set's using the XBR feature. It takes a while to figure it out and enter the Serial Number and Mac Address set up, screens are slow, possibly using the Internet. Needs better documentation. Sites are not the same as your Computer can access. Music Video's lockup, movies on CBS are Clips only at least on My Computer I can watch the full movie from the Unit or Two and a Half Men. Also seems to have the ability to accept transmissions from your PC to the DMX but I didn't even try that software. I took this back after 4 hours of testing one night. WORTHLESS DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY

Couldn't Live Without!

This is a perfect edition to an already great line of products from Sony. I own an XBR4 LCD and added this product to add more feature to the XMB. The internet video link gives you direct access to YouTube, Amazon Movies and Slacker Radio all using the remote supplied with the TV.

New World

No more trips to video rental stores, or inserting DVDs and trying to skp through the Previews. DMX-NV1 enables you to connect to the Internet and get Videos on demand from content providers like Amazon.com. The DMX-NV1 is easy to install and set up for anyone who likes cutting edge consumer electronics. The DMX requires an ethernet connection, but you can use a wireless gaming adaptor to connect to your wireless network and plug in the outgoing ethernet cable into the DMX. (It was actually harder to config the gamiing adaptor to my wireless network than the DMX which is pretty much a plug and play device.) The significance of the DMX is that it has its own Serial Number and MAC address separate from your TV. These allow you to register for content service from Amazon. Amazon and Sony really put this package together and it works seamlessly...Sign up your Bravia for Amazon video on demad using a new or your existing Amazon account. Open Internet on Bravia and go to Amazon...select your movie then enter pin and start watching! Awesome.. Sony also has other content service providers lined up and accessible, including You-Tube. It was appliances like the DMX and the usual high Sony quality that made me buy a Sony HD TV, and after setting up the TV and the DMX and watching a few movies I'm glad I purchased these products. Imagine having a huge library of movies, TV shows available all from your Remote! It's a new world...I feel like a kid again. Thanks Sony and Amazon!
