I am using this dash from last 1 year. The concept and fatures are good as long as it works all the time. No one wants to buy a clock or set an alam if that clock works only half of the time. It is very frustating that you set the alarm and next day morning it does not work..instead it shows "Failed to Authorized". And every day ..just unplug it and plug it again to see the time. Clock by nature it self requre high reliability and it should work. Not like this.. if you want to see current time just unplug it and plug it again..to see the time...:-)

It is fantastic! I have it on my desk at work. The alarm settings are used to remind me of my breaks. I can stream images of zoo animals, play Pandora music and even have Netflix! My favorite feature is that I can display my family pictures through Shutterfly so it's also a nice digital frame that I can update online. I can't say enough about this, it's great. Set up was a bit tricky because my Dash needed a software upgrade but Sony Tech Chat walked me through it and I was up in running right away.

Got a refurb unit for $50 from SONY store and very happy with it. It does every thing as it claims to do and so far after a month of using is reliable to awake me up with the internet radio every day. Once passed the initial hurdle for the product registration, everything else works fine. Won't be disappointed if you don't use it as a tablet PC even it has a lot of features like a tablet but it is much slower and especially to load the better quality of videos.

Good concept but poor execution. When it works well, it's a nice device that lets you play Internet radio, view news headlines, or see the latest weather forecast. However, I'm constantly having to unplug it to unfreeze it. Sometime the screen will just go completely dark. Other times the apps won't load. This is not acceptable performance for a device you need to rely on to get you up each morning for work.

The Dash seems like more of a proof-of-concept than an actual product. It doesn't really seem finished, and I have a lot of trouble figuring out what it's actually for. After using it for several months I've settled on just leaving it on my desk as a virtual fishtank, which seems a bit excessive, but I'm not comfortable using it anywhere else. I know it has alarm clock functionality programmed into it, but I can't imagine trusting it to wake me up for something important - just on my desk it will lock up completely about once a month, it loses some of my app settings about once a week, and there are frequent software updates that freeze the other things it's doing. Because of all of this I just can't trust it with something as critical as waking me up in time for work, or to catch a flight, or anything like that. In addition, the interface is very ambiguous, and the device responds very slowly, so I frequently don't know if I just didn't push the button right, if it didn't notice me pushing the button, or if it isn't actually a button at all. This makes it very frustrating to try to do anything with it beyond just have it set up and cycling through apps. I suppose you could get past all of these flaws and perhaps use it in the kitchen for movies or recipes or something, but I've never had the space in a kitchen to sacrifice to something like this. The lack of a battery really limits the places it could be used as well.

I was told by my sales person in the Sony Store that I could wake up to my fave songs from a USB device... Its NOT true! No battery option either.. so once you unplug it.. say goodbye to all your settings! Thank god I got this device for free with a tv I bought! DO NOT buy one if you're considering them. Im giving mine away to my dad who will use it as a simple alarm clock.

What a great bedside alarm clock....I love waking up to streaming internet radio (Grateful Dead or even Pandora!!) I really like the 2 time zone clock, the weather conditions at home and afar and have actually spent a few hours watching movies on Netflix and Amazon!!! The only bummer is moving the unit from one room to another and the amount of time it takes to cycle through and do its' set-up.....maybe I should just buy two more...one for the kitchen and one for the bathroom!!! Hint, hint Sony..(% off coupons for multiple unit purchases!!) Hoping the apps will grow up with time.....

My Dash is not at all useful. When I plug it in it will work for about 3 hours. Then it Freezes. I reboot and the screen says it is unable to load the control panel and I have to reboot. After rebooting 15 times I just unplugged it and put it in a drawer. I contacted Sony Tech Support 6 times. Aside from being put on hold for long periods of time, the techs were unable to resolve the problem. This purchase was a MAJOR MISTAKE!!!

i love the dash. used to have it on my bedside table and it worked great as an alarm clock but recently i moved it onto the dining room table and ive used it much more so since.. i love that i can watch my favorite tv shows and movies on HULU plus and NETFLIX on this little gadget.. the screen is very clear, and the sound is loud enough. You can listen to almost any kind of music and news through the streaming radio. I also love that i can have some news, twitter updates, weather reports, facebook updates, funny photos from the FAILblog cycle through the screen. I even get to see what the polar bear at the san diego zoo is up to. There are a number of nice apps for the dash but i have to say a lot of them are really not up to par with android and iphone apps... Sony should have released the dash with the $99 or even $149 price point. Sony always prices all their products too high and that causes a lot of people to ignore their otherwise wonderful products and go buy samsung or lg or some other brand. Going back to the dash, now that its just $99, i think its a steal!

This is an excellent little internet device, lets you check your e-mail, weather. You can set it as a regular clock, yet watch netflix videos. You can also watch and listen from the included USB port. If only they had made some kind of a battery pack for this. If this was portable in your house, it would rock!

I love my Sony Dash so much that I bought my Grand-daughter one for her Birthday and am buying myself another one for the kitchen. I use mine in the bedroom to listen to music while I relax before sleeping. The Sony Dash screen dims for night. I set it to wake me up with my favorite music. I watch Netflix on it and I love it. I do wish it had a battery back up because like another reviewer said, when I unplug it, I have to wait for it to upload again before it works. This can take several minutes.

It's an alarm clock for goodness sake - where's the battery backup, I'm not asking for wake on video streaming while on battery power, but the faith that it'll at least buzz if the power fails would be nice. Great sound, love the out put jack (would be nice to have it at the back or one on each side as I sleep on the RHS of the bed. Overall - good value for 99$

I am really disappointed at this product. It simply won't connect to my wireless. In my house I have about 10 devices connected in my wireless, including 2 Ipads, laptops, desktops, printer, videogames, and only this device can't connect. Really fustrating.

I absolutely love my dash. I love the fact that I can set several alarms. I can program it to go off just one day in particular or certain days, etc. and I love that I can see weather and traffic before I leave. I do not use the "apps" much and most of them are useless, but that was not the reason I wanted this. The things that I use the most are: pandora internet radio streams photo viewer twitter email amazon on demand hulu plus . I had been wanting an internet radio and a digital picture frame for a long time and this combines those things for less money than it would have to buy them separately. What I do not like about the dash is that I like to keep it next to my bed as an alarm clock, but during the day I use it in the kitchen. Since there is no battery, it has to reboot each time you unplug it.

The Dash is basically an expensive paper weight/clock. The User Interface Sucks and the apps aren't worth downloading. I bought it thinking I could use it like a larger version of an android or apple phone minus the calling service but it doesn't even come close to touching them. Other than having a touchscreen, the Dash is primitive and useless!

i was really excited when i first saw the dash, seemed to have unbelievable power and capabilities. however with as much potential as it has there is some kind of embedded software problem that prevents the dash from working correctly. the apps freeze and hangs the dash up. the apps althought there maybe allot of them have no real funtionality there is no status information about the dashes operations and what is actually going on with the dash and the apps so there is no way to moniutor if it is the dash having trouble or the apps i am a very computer literate, and very software oriented and work in the field of industrial automation, i have tried every function i could and have yet to have the dash function correctly the only words i can use to describe my experience with the dash is disappointing and for sony to put their name on it is amazing this product has many great features and amazing power if it only worked the way they said it would in addition the amount of product info on the apps and instructions on how to using the dash is very poor if i were selling this product i would get sued for the poor funtionality

Over all a nice product. Works well on my wireless home net. Suggest external speakers for better sound but internals are ok. If it could get xm/serius application for SAT internet radio it would be a great item.

I've been looking for this all my life: an alarm clock that is easy to set and understand. Plus all the features, I can check my email before I get out of bed and I always his the animated New Yorker cartoon before I go to sleep. I would still pay the original $200 price for this.

DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU ARE NOT PHYSICALLY LOCATED IN THE U.S. or CANADA. If you are not physically located in the US or Canada you will not be able to registure this device. If you do not registure this device it is nothing but a glorified alarm clock. You will not be able to do anything on this. I have called Sony on this and their response was the device has to be in the US or Canada to be registured and that you cannot registure out side of the 2 countries. I am located at an APO so I thought it would be nice to get one of these. Sony and the distributors do not tell you about this hitch about registuring this device. So save yourself a headache and time and do not waste your money if you are not physically located in the US or Canada.

I was hesitant about purchasing this product and put it off for a while. However, I'm glad I finally made the purchase as it has so many features that are nice to have access to when your not near your computer or won't have access to one for a while. You can take the Dash with you and use it wherever you are without any problems unless you are not one who can easily work with any type of electronics. A few reviews stated the Dash wouldn't let them change the city, time, etc., and would only show Boston and San Diego. While those are the defaults, it is quite easy to customize cities, time and date, and add additional cities for the weather app. It's a simple matter of taking the time to know exactly how to navigate the Dash via the few buttons it does have. I do my best to make sure I am familiar with any electronic device prior to setting it up which makes things much simpler. I would not let this deter me from purchasing the Dash if your seriously considering purchasing one. Movies, music, email, anything you normally do on a daily basis can be done with the Dash. If you are in the proces of deciding to purchase this product, I would say it is definitely worth purchasing. And if you check around, you can get a really good deal on the Dash as I did. I have to say, for $110, it was well worth the price. And it was purchased at a major electronics retailer. It's a nice little gadget to have and I have enjoyed everything about it so far.

I recently purchased a Sony Dash. I love it, with a few exceptions. First off, the pictures never showed a power cord that must be continually plugged in. The description did not mention this either. It isn't very portable. Two days after I recieved the Dash, the headphone jack stopped working properly. There are many things I enjoy about it though. I love the music and videos. Excellent sound and picture quality. The apps are fun and easy to use. Overall, I would recommend this product. It's fun, lightweight, and enjoyable.

This has to be the hardest and most difficult media anything I have ever used. Won it in a sales contest and will be re-gifting this thing asap. My kids who are very savy couldn't help me figure this out...Sony needs to leave this kind of hardward to apple

We have our Dash in the bathroom and we really like it. We can catch up on all the morning news, etc. during our morning routine without having to turn on the television, cell phone or computer. So far we only have a few issues that bug us. One, the Touch Screen can be temperamental at times if not hit at the right spot, Slack Radio keeps changing the jazz station (Sky.com) location (we like to keep jazz on 24/7 in the house) and lastly there is no back button when setting up the music, etc. Otherwise we would give it 5 stars.

I turned on my Sony Internet Viewer today and WOW. Great sound and pictures. Movies play great. Have played with it most of the day and watched a couple movies. Easy use and touch pad is great. Probably will be looking at getting more internet viewers this year for the holidays.

First time I used it, it prompted me to upgrade the firmware, which i tried. I keep getting an error message when I try to upgrade (Upgrade Unsuccessful). Now every time I turn the device ON, i must click the Vol+ to avoid the upgrade. Also when I hit the Vol+, it freezes (blank screen) 80% of the time after the Dashboard loading message. To top this, the first night I tried it, it froze after I hit the snooze button!! Luckily, I didn't paid for it, because it was on promo with my laptop purchase! I hope the laptop will be more reliable!

When I purchased this I thought it was a bit of technology candy. A product that would give me the time, but not be used for much else. Wrong. We love our dashes and use them constantly. Thanks Sony.

This is a great little Media device. From the Nexflix, Pandora Radio, Google News, Pictures, and Weather to the robust Alarm Clock features including a Dimmer or Power Save feature to have the screen turn off until you touch it again. I really like it so far. I love that I can customize it from my computer if i want to. So apps i find online i can send to my Dash at home and they are ready instantly. If it had a Battery option this would be almost perfect. It still has room to improve with th...

Chumby: If you look at Chumby: small 3.5inch screen, not exactly pleasing looks (white with blue trim or the chumby classic which looks ugly and bulky (where did they get the design from?) . Sure there's many apps to chose from, but a lot of them are ticky tacky looking apps written by amateurs that would only appeal to a child, not suited for all people, adn you woudl spend a lot of time looking for one that appeals to you.
