I have two of these radios one from 2002 and the other from 2016, it is an excellent performer in the portable segment, the sync detector and the signal attenuator are the features on this radio that are usually found in the high end radios. The sensitivity and selectivity are great, this is my go to radio when I travel, and it is very reliable, I use 1300mAh rechargeable batteries and they last a few days which is excellent. It gives the latest dsp radios a run for their money.

Excellent receiver but badly needs vfo tuning knob and knob for clairifier + other relevant controls. Needs band buttons along with direct entry.

I switched from ICF SW 7600 D to ICF SW 7600 GR couple of days before. GR has good synchronous detection, backlight, long battery time, stereo fm sound, 100 presets and key pad is superb. But sound quality, though very fine comparing other radios of its class but I still prefer icf sw 7600 D.

This radio replaces my ICF 2002 that worked for 33 years. The sound from this radio, even on short wave, it spectacular through a good pair of headphones. There is a bit of a learning curve, but once you get past that, it is very easy to use. Id has selectable sidebands, which is important when listening to SSB. it includes long wave through to 30 MHZ. The short wave sensitivity may be better on other portables, though. The biggest drawback is that there is no power pack to plug into the electric mains. My 2002 battery pack does not produce enough current to run this radio. Otherwise, it is a spectular purchase. Get a good quality set of headphones to go with it and you are in business!

A good all round worldband receiver. Design is similar to many digital receivers on the market but this set gives plenty for its price. Good sensitivity and selectivity. FM stereo, LW, MW and SW. AM coverage continuous 150KHz to 30000KHz. Single sideband and CW, external aerial, external power. Reasonable sound if lacking a bit in the bass department. Good weight for travel but has one major flaw - the whip aerial has a non-soldered connection to the circuit board which causes it to lose contact too easily. OK, not a major problem but niggling just the same. Backlit display and 100 memories. It would have been nice to be able to describe the memory locations in alphanumeric form, however... Certainly worth the money.

This is really the best radio in the world. Getting signal from all over the world even in the middle of atlantic or pacific ocean. Best radio specially for us who worked at sea. Using it from 2009. Thank to sony...

Sony designed and put this radio together right. I have been using the same piece of equipment since 2001, and it has been an overall great receiver for both AM (medium wave 530-1710 KHZ and shortwave) reception as well as SSB. I have been able to pick up from my location a 1KW stations at night from hundreds of miles away just using a simple and small external loop antenna. Additionally, with the 23 foot outboard reel antenna reception of broadcasters from thousands of miles away happens frequently. Currently within the past year, the DC voltage jack no longer works with the unit. Other than that after all of these years this is a most functional set. Treat it well, and given the quality control of Sony Japan it should do the job of a portable SWL unit reliably.

A month with this good radio, I buy this in Adorama, I use it for my travels in Chihuahua MX, I use NiMH battery´s and have a very long time to use. The only thing that i like to change is the small screen and the poor led light, but i thing this help to save power. After buy I compare this with the G3, I thing later I buy the G3 only to have the Air band and general compare.

I bought this radio because I wanted world band reception. So far (1 week) I haven't been successful in receiving any stations, including any local AM stations. FM seems to work fine. One cautionary note about this radio is it's absurdly complex, archaic, and illogical controls. I predict it will inhibit usage because I won't remember all the complexities. There is no straight forward way to dial stations as you might with a traditional turn knob. You have to press several buttons just to get to tune in a channel or even to scan. Some buttons have dual functions, so you have to remember what mode you are in. If you're not quick enough to press the next button, the function is cancelled. This radio reminds of the half-baked, user unfriendly automotive controls via a touch screen which make it painful to get some basic tasks accomplished.

As a long time amateur radio operator, I've used receivers and transceivers costing literally 30 times as much as the ICF-SW7600GR. To put it mildly, I am VERY impressed with this little gem!!! It easily picks up SSB and CW signals on all of the low bands with just the whip antenna and is stable as a rock too. Contrary to other comments, the fidelity is also excellent even with just the internal speaker and with head phones, it's full spectrum. No ham or even casual SWL'er should be without one of these amazing little, go any where receivers!!! An AC adapter for what is intended to be a portable receiver makes zero sense which is likely the reason why one isn't provided.

I was worried that the sync Sony SW7600GR would not be effective. But this is not the case at all it is highly effective. Folk music from Romania, guaracha and guajiros music from Radio Habana and Radio New York International on WBCQ are all a total joy to listen to now without a hint of distortion.

I read many, many reviews before buying it, and in no way does the reception described by others come across for me. I only get the big stations, and i have a very good antenna system

Great product and I love the radio. Really solid build and looks and feels really well built. Having good performance. It would be better to have a ac adapter for the radio.

Bought the Sony to get SSB weather reports and weather fax transmissions while on the Sea of Cortez. Pegging the Geek Meeter by enjoying the Voice of America, and news from Australia... Chinese and Japanese stations are easy to pick up. Too bad I don't understand either. Great radio reception and frequency guide. Will need some work to get the weather info I needed. Oh, it survived a 6' freefall to the hardwood floor(OK, the antenna seems a little loose now).

This is my first Sony SW radio and I could not be happier with initial quality and reception. Has a nice quality to the build, seems like good materials and does not feel flimsy. The design looks like a 10 dollar radio but the sound and reception make up for it. Would be nice to have a dial to adjust channels but they seem to break on lower end units anyways and since it is a pll tuner not analog, the buttons do just fine. Kudos to the quality control at Sony on this unit.

The quality of this unit is exceptional. The dials and buttons all work smoothly. I purchased this radio specifically for the shortwave functions. This model can pick up continous shortwave coverage through all bands including single side band (ham radio) and CB. This is the only small portable with synchronous detection which reduces fading on shortwave and AM bands. If you like talk radio, ham radio, and shortwave broadcasts then this is the radio for you. FM on this radio is ok but the single speaker was not made for high fidelity sound although there is stereo through the use of headphones. This is one of the few Sony products that is still made in Japan and you can tell immediately the heft and quality of the unit when holding it. Nice job Sony!

Listen to the airwaves in virtually any country with the ICF-SW7600GR multi-band world band receiver radio. Features include an AM (LW/MW/SW)/FM Stereo, which provides accurate reception with stereo FM capability over a wide range of frequencies and 10 Key Direct Access tuning, which lets you capture distant stations directly. A sharp LCD display provides digital frequency read-out of the selected station. And you can store to 100 of your favorite stations.
