Old Reliable

I purchased these about 12 years ago for our weekly live broadcast of our church service at a Sony Outlet store. They were refurbished and at a great price. They still are in use and sound as good as new.I have replaced the ear cushions twice but that is a small problem since they are available through Sony. I wish they had these when I was working in radio.

Best Headphones for 21 Years!!!

I bought my Sony MDR-V600s during my freshman year college in 1988. A fellow DJ at our radio station swore by them, traveling back and forth to the radio station with them in her backpack. One day I borrowed her V600s for my radio show. Incredible! They blocked out all other noise in the studio, and I could not believe how clear, deep, and rich the sound was; I purchased my own pair the next day for $100. Now they’re still selling for $100? Unbelievable. This has been by far the best single investment I have ever made in electronics. Walkmen, receivers, amplifiers, tape players, CD/DVD players, TVs, computers, MP3 players – they’ve all come and gone. The one constant I’ve had for 21 years – my beautiful V600s – still performing like the day I purchased them. That was until my 5 year old took them with her into the tub. Thank you Sony.

Reliabilty and design at its best!!!

I have owned these headphones since 1994 or somewhere about that time. I was 14 years old when I got these headphones. They cost the same back then as they do now, which really surprised me to see that the cost hasn't gone up for an incredible piece of audio equipment. I bought these headphones to block out the noise on the school bus so that I could actually hear my music. They performed incredibly well! The sound is clear with both highs and lows. The bass is almost amazing! After 16 years of owning these headphones, the ear pads are finally getting to the point where they need to get replaced. I have NO complaints about these spectacular headphones! I would buy them again in a heartbeat! If you're in the market for some great headphones, GET THESE! You WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Simply the best headphone for the money available!

I've been a professional DJ for about 35 years. I've owned every brand of headphone you can name. These may not be better then the more costly phones, but they are as good. I've owned these about 20 years (it's been so long I don't remember how long). They are just now starting to wear out (they are starting to sound bad at high volume). You can be a whatabe and pay three times more so you can own the ones that everybody say you should own. But they are not going to be any better. Your just the dipsh~t that paid more. These sound very clear with good sound quality. I've used these in the biggest nightclubs with the biggest, baddest, loudest sound systems around and you can still hear these loud and clear. They do a good job keeping the unwanted sound out. While being loud and clear enough to hear the music your mixing in. If your a DJ that really needs a good pair of headphones at a good price. These are the ones....PERIOD!. Oh, and they are very comfortable to.

One of the best headphones for the price

This is hands down the best pair of headphones I have owned so far. They sound great and I've had them for over 5 years and they havent died yet. These arent the nearly disposable headphones you get nowadays. This is a great design that will last for years as long as you take decent care of them. The one downside is that the cord is so long that it might not be ideal for people on the go. But these are studio monitor headphones so I'm not sure why you would use them as such.

Decent Monitors

These are comfortable monitors that portray the bass, mids, and highs well enough for standard CD-quality music, but they seem to get dodgy in the extremes. I used these cans primarily for recording purposes, and in my opinion, the highs are screechy and confused while the lows are muddled and limited. I recently upgraded to a higher model (much clearer extremes) and gave these to my girlfriend, who seems to be enjoying them for casual listening... So, I guess if you just want some comfy headgear for long listening sessions, these will work great and last a while. But if you have a home studio and plan to use these for recording and mixing, consider spending more money on a better model instead.

Use natural leather instead and you have a winner

I'm on my 3rd set of Sony Studio/DJ headphones. My first two headsets were MDR-V600's. The audio performance is outstanding. The frequency response of 5Hz-30KHz is key to an excellent listening experience. The Circumaural earcup design is extremely comfortable for hours of listening. The only drawback to these super headphones is the Urethane Leather which has a tendency to crack-peel and disintegrate leaving a disgusting mess. Suggestion to Sony: Do one of the following 1) Drop the Urethane Leather in trade for Natural Leather (as is used in your MDR-700DJ set) or 2) reissue the MDR-700DJ as is with a cirumaural earcup instead of the current supra-aural earcup - for ensured comfort.

Last Headphone Purchase...Awesome Product!

I have had this for over 10 years and is one of the reasons why I continue to buy everything Sony...from HDTVs, Theatre System, Bluray player, SLR Camera, HD Camcorder and so on. My only drawback was the covering on the headband that stripped away. It shouldnt have been added to begin with. I helped the final strip away process and It looks and still works great. Awesome Product!!!!!
