For the life of me, I can't figure out why SONY limited the playable vdeo format to MPEG and DIVX, and limited the video files sizes to 720 (width) × 576 (height)/2 GB. Other than these limitations, the player is excellent. I wish SONY would upgrade this player to play as many video formats as possible. And NO file size limitation. I would like to play recorded HD TV videos using this player. I know SONY can do it. Just don't know what they are waiting for.

I've shopped for this device/last year..it was priced near 159-dollars(USD)..I think this module has its feet on the ground/can't wait to try it with all my stuff. The design is excellent-I did not find a connector issue where they are not fully seated(where-by)the RCA-connector gets ripped out when removing devices.Excellent SONY build.

This could be the next big add on to the Sony brand fans, but many other usb digital media boxes have far surpassed the unit. If you have a nicer bravia tv you already get the basic functionality of this unit. I won't name competitors, but there are at least 5 other units out there that support 3 times more video formats and twice as many audio formats as this one. Given Sony is one of the biggest supporters of AVCHD camcorder technology I am surprised it doesn't support it. I hope they read this and come out with a 2.0 with DTS support and many more video formats, because they would really steal the market if they did.

Is a duplication of capabilities already available on Bravia TV and Sony Blu-ray.
