Great Budget Hifi for All, including Audiophiles

Overall, this is a great hifi stereo receiver for what you pay. The sound is full, uncolored, faithful. You can't beat it. Unfortunately it does not have a built in phono pre amp like most older stereo receivers, but that is almost impossible to find from any manufacturer these days. The arguable upside to that one "drawback", is that you have plenty of line inputs to choose for your own external phono pre amp which you can upgrade to highest quality of pre amps, better than any stock pre amp...

know your product

If I knew the system would not be usable with my 400 disk player I would not have bought it. For the $ my other system is better and it is 20 yrs old.and not a snoy. This is the 1st time I have been diappointed with Sony products

Antenna problems

By

from DC  -  Tech Savvy

An inadequate indoor antenna comes with it BUT == I asked SONY customer service -- there is not way to substitute a longer, better antenna nor a way to attach my good, old folded dipole antenna. DVD sounded very good, but obviously requires no antenna

OK for the price

By

from Pittsburg, Ca

Bought this for my backyard/pool area. Reception very good for am/fm. Have it hooked up to kicker outdoor speakers, sounds good but lacks loundness bass. Love the iphone/pod plug in the back along with my xm radio. But still lacks that umph factor from the old time amps with the loundness button.

Big Bang for the Buck

By

from Dallas, TX

Paired with nice speakers and enjoying brilliant quality. Amp can pack a punch and maintain fidelity over a broad spectrum. Vinyl through this amp puts a sentimental smile on my face. Using reference headphones and sound is superb. Also, it appears Sony did a fine job of selecting the proper capacitors to deliver the best quality possible in this price range. I might have considered a product with this power at twice the price.

Great low cost reciever

By

from fort worth, texas

I puchased this unit to use on my covered patio. Its connected to 2 outdoor speakers for music around my pool. It's fantastic. Even the portable audio jack works well. I listen to Pandora radio with no problem.

Good for the Price

By

from Warren, OH

It's an entry level A/V receiver. You don't get much and it's only stereo. If someone was looking at setting up a stereo system i would recommend this. Again, It's very basic, but it gets the job done.

Q&A

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  How do you connect receiver to TV?
FRED H  There are RCA jacks in the back of the receiver/amplifier for multiple audio inputs. Since the TV where the receiver/amplifier is located does not have audio outputs, I use the audio outputs from the VCR set to the channel that I want, in place of the TV audio inputs and it works well.
Shopper  can this be hooked up with a wire fm antenna with horse shoe clips?
Andrew R  Unfortunately no, this unit uses a 3 pin connector for the AM loop antenna and a 75ohm coax connector for FM.
