Questions & Answers

Shopper : Is this product still legal under the FCC in the USA?RAYMOND P : As far as I know it is. Why do you think it might not be?ANDREW M : The new units that are offered for sale now are all legal. The band that is no longer legal (as of June 2010) is 698 MHz to 806 MHz, often referred to as the 700 MHz band.BARBARA T : Why would it not? www.fcc.gov
Shopper : Does it work for stage singing? what does it mean to operate on TV channel? I would like to give it as gift for a friend but don't know if I am buying the right thing. This will be used in a church for preachers and singers on stage, connected to the church sound system. Is it the right choice. Thanks a lot.KATHLEEN F : I purchased the equipment and have successfully used it for recording interviews on film. The equipment is easy to use and the sound is crisp and clear.ALAN G : I am not sure about singing...I have used this in interview situations and I really like it. The receiver and transmitter automatically find a common frequency, so there's not much you have to do with respect to the channel.WILLIS S : the unit works on frequency range that TV channels also use. you can select a number of different frequencies if you do have interference from a local TV station. I have not had any problems in that regard, very easy to set up. Several good videos on youtube on using a setting up the units. I use mine in video productions mostly for voice and not singing. The mic pick up is excellent, distance is also very good have used them at 100 - 300 feet without problem. Singers might want to use a different type of Microphone but there a variety of them available. The unit plugs into standard XLR jacks, check your sound system. You can get converter cable for other types of input jacks. Great units, highly recommend.TIM J : Yes, it would work for stage singing. They operate in the same frequency range as broadcast TV used to. The closer you can position the clip on mic to the persons mouth, the better the sound will be. It would be a good choice for what you are doing. Half goes on your talent, the other half connects to your church's sound board and they should be able to adjust the levels from there.
PATRICIA V : I have a Canon Vixia HF G10 camcorder. Which of the Sony UWPV1 systems should I purchase.. TV channels 30-33 or the TV channels 42-47? Thanks for your help.DALE S : Sorry I had not notice your e-mail sooner. Either should work so long as you (or neighbors) do not have other devices operating at those frequencies. If one frequency seams choppy or even blocked all together you may want to send it back and get the other frequency if possible. Buy the way you can operate only one mike per receiver. Hope this helps, DaleANDREW M : Hi Patricia, The vendors of wireless microphones used to keep a data base of TV channels used in major areas of the USA and would advise purchasers. Now that the spectrum has been largely reassigned I do not know of an easy answer. I am in the SF bay area and I use the channel 30- 33 frequency range and have not ever had a problem for the three years I have owned four of these wireless mic systems. I have never encountered any interference on those channels. Overall it works great and, in fact, I purchased the matching hand held mic and have had great results with both.MATTHEW B : It doesn't matter. It's just different sets of frequencies. Both will work for you.DAVID B : Patricia, I am not a "professional" but do enjoy using my Panasonic HC150 camcorder. I am using TV channels 30-33 and have not had any problems here in the US. I have also used my Sony UWP1 in the following countries (without problems): Egypt, India, China, Thailand, Greece, and Israel. I'm not sure if there would be any advantage choosing one over the other. Enjoy your Canon G10 and have a BLESSED DAY!CAMERON P : Either should be fine. If you're buying 2 sets, you might want to buy one of each to ensure that the signals won't ever cross.

Solid, Reliable, Convenient

We've used a number of mics over the past few years, lavaliers, shotguns, booms, clip-ons, etc., and the Sony UWP-V1 is consistently the most reliable with the richest sound. By combining our Channel 30-32 unit and the 42-45, there's never any interference between mics. All in all, it's an outstanding microphone at a very good price.

Exactly What I Expected From Sony

I've always been a big fan of Sony products. But I had not purchased on in a while. This wireless lavalier microphone performs exactly as described. Out of the box and in production in less than two minutes. All I had to find was batteries. It take four AA batteries (I don't think the product description mentioned battery requirements). I couldn't wait to test it with my video camera and went right out. It worked perfectly and the sound quality is excellent. The only negative that I have is there no easy mount option for the Sony video camera that I have. So you'll have to come up with something for the receiver and your camera. I solved it with my tripod, since there was a screw mount on the bottom that allowed me to attach it there, but, it was an awkward few hours to figure out what to do with the receiver. I think it is well worth the money I spent.

beats Sennheiser

I'm using this system for recording lavalier mic to one channel on DSLR - recording HD video. (The second channel is fed from a shotgun mic.) When filming testimonial video of talking heads, the quality of the audio is as important as the video. This is a great system, when others have remained pricy - Sony stills stands as the best value. No dropouts, easy to use and program, the audio quality is indistinguishable from a hard-wire. I'll get another one soon.

Good Lavalier

Great lavalier with excellent sound. I use it for professional video interviews and so far it has been great. The only drawback is you cannot remove the antenna from the unit.

EXCELLENT quality mic.

On a recommendation from a friend, I bought this over the Sennheiser to save a little money and it was a great way to go. I have used this mic very successful for interview (documentarys) as well as some audio recording. Would recommend it to any videographer.

Good quality for reasonable price

Have owned one unit for a year. It has been faultless for my uses so I bought two more. I use them for talking heads, panel discussions and presentations using PAs. The only weakness in design seems to be that the windscreens constantly fall off when clients install or remove their mics.

Great Product.

Great price/quality combination. A great and "warrior" wireless mic. I have used a couple of them in some documental tv series so I bought mine and I got it today. I bought a Countryman B3 capsule to improve sound and size of the mic, but it also goes fine with the included one.
