I was looking for a small tripod to carry in a backpack for use with a cellphone or pocket camera. This was a lot better quality than similar-looking, less expensive tripods sold at the same store. The leg locks, thumb screws, rubber feet and smoothness of operation were all significantly superior. In this case at least, you do get what you pay for. I wish it would extend high enough to reach over heads in a crowd, but then the tripod would have to be bigger and may not fit into a backpack, unless the legs were thinner and made of more sections (which would not be as stable).

This tripod is very small and light, perfect to carry in a backpack of the size used for notebooks. It is not very smooth for horizontal panning, but acceptable. I have not yet tried to lubricate it for smoother panning because I mainly use it to record lectures, but I think that I'll do the experiment with some green silicon lubricant special for plastics. For photography I have taken pictures of the moon, it is some difficult, not too much, to point to the moon with a 1000mm equivalent bridge camera, although it is short, if the camera has a movable screen that is not a problem. Of course, you need to use either a remote shutter or 2 sec. self-timer, to avoid shaking. You should be aware that the center of gravity of bridge cameras with all extended zoom is far from the camera body, that makes the setting some unstable, not for shaking, but for an accidental dropping, just use the neck strap for caution. I recommend it as a handy piece to carry for it's portability and stability.

The tripod is well made but is more of a toy than a usable tripod. A really light duty tripod for non DSLR cameras.

I was surprised at how sturdy this tripod was given it's small & lightweight. Not been tested in windy conditions yet but otherwise I'm very happy with it. It also looks good!

It is a great small tripod. A bit short - have to kneel down if you want to use your camera viewfinder.

I can't find much to criticise about this tripod. It's really good for the traveler: Lightweight and small enough to easily fit in the small carry-on shoulder bag that comes with most luggage sets. When expanded for use, it is a bit short--but wait! The expanded height is ideal for a seated person. This makes an ideal gift for the wheelchair bound. I use a wheeled walker-chair combo and the height is perfection.

This is an overall good tripod for beginners and is great for traveling, if it were higher, it would suit my needs greatly! However, 40" is still an okej height to do some good filming and pictures!

I have a Sony NEX 5 camera and this tripod is a perfect match, the NEX 5 has a fold out LCD display which would compensate for the tripod's short height. I would definitely be bringing this tripod for my overseas trip, it's compact but not lightweight. But It is sturdily built hence the heftiness but that's what we all want, right?, not some flimsy tripod that you can buy out there. I really liked it's compactness, it would easily fit in my camera bag.

Although it doesn't say it in the camera details, this tripod is compatible with your Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W530. Overall, this tripod is a must, though for portrait pictures, especially outdoors where the scenery is as much a part of the picture, I think the tripod needs an additional 12" of height. I bought this to replace an older tripod, which secures the legs with a cumbersome screw-clamp. I was very pleased to find that the legs on this tripod secure by a lever-like pressure-clamp instead; much easier to work. I also love that this tripod comes with a bag for storage, so it doesn't get dusty and dirty. The bag, however, is not as easy to work with, and though it can be worn/carried, it's not really designed for that.

An inexpensive, fairly stable light weight and small tripod. Impossible to find better at this price.
