Recently purchased this piece of equipment and it is a great idea and easy to use,,,however after inserting a san disc and copying, the @$#!* thing does not take the photos off of the disc in the order that the pictures were taken !!! One minuet I am looking at one thing, then another and then we go back to the earlier subject and jump back to the beginning again !! This is frustating as heck when it jumps back and forth without copying the photos in order as they are on the disc !!It is junk when it comes to this ! . Very frustrating !!!!

I purchased this to be able to transfer our daughters baby video tapes over to DVD. This was a great decision--the unit works excellently. Had to buy a separate cord to be able to connect everything, but once we got that we were off and running. Simple enough for a non-tecchie person like myself to be able to use. Does an excellent job transferring over the tapes.

The Sony VRD MC6 DVD recorder enables me to transfer the content from my collection of aging Betamax and VHS tapes practically worry-free. One of the chief advantages of generating DVD-R copies of those old tapes is that the copies aren't plagued with that "third generation" look.I'm referring to speckled images, faded colors, fuzzy images and the streak lines.The Sony VRD MC6 DVD recorder which I'm currently using is connected to a Sony VCR, a cable box and a pre-1980 color TV set. The only item that's required to connect this Sony DVD recorder to the VHS machine is a single RCA connector cable--the red, yellow and blue variety.No programming is needed!By comparison, my old Sony DVD player/recorder had to be programmed for initial use, and it required a second RCA red, yellow and blue RCA cable along with an RF modulator in order to work properly. It was tough time to find one of those RF modulators in the outer boroughs in 2007. The Sony VRD MC6 DVD recorder is superior to the old stand-alone Sony DVD recorder in most respects but it should be treated with care. I tend to use it as much as three times a day but I allow it two hours between copying tasks which last from 1.5 to 2 hours. And, this machine should be operated in a cool environment during the Summer months. My first Sony VRD MC6 recorder broke down last Summer when I was using it in a room that wasn't air conditioned.

I am a professional Investigator and I have to copy evidence onto a DVD in a moments notice. I was nervous when I ordered but I am thrilled with how this product had worked for me. It has taken weight off my shoulders as time is a big factor for my clients in getting video recorded.

Only used it once. When it filled a DVD it would finalize it. When only a part of a DVD was used it wouldn't let me finalize it. But, I will say, I notified Sony and they said to return it and they will send me a new one. I guess I can't complain about that.

We got our first video camera in 1984. Since that time, I have used virtually every format (VHS, VHS-C, 8mm and DV). Several years ago, I went through the very painful process of copying some old tapes to DVD using my computer and a software package. Rendering usually took hours. This little unit is a direct to DVD recorder. So far I have transferred 50 hours of video tape to DVD. I started with the DV tapes first since they were the easiest. the DVDs look great. I am now transferring the VHS-C tapes. The unit allows several types of transfer with cables or media cards. I have not tried to transfer images from media cards, but it looks easy. I have also copied the DVDs of my home videos using my computer and both Soney Vegas, and Pinnacle software with no problem

i bought mine off e bay for 90 bucks .i have recorded 100 home movies and no trouble at all i made back up sets to just be sure and recored on memorex dvd-rw just incase i made a boo boo. ya two .thats all and they were my fault becauces of a fast trigger finger. but it,s great i went back to e bay and bought a vrd-mc-6 and now i,am ok and paid 99 bucks for a referbished job .what the hick i,am not marrying it just recording home movies ? and heres one for you to really remember , dig this . get your self a (copiall dpx-7000) and you can record any thing you want ! it workks .man what a slick little tool .that is a must for evry one .trust me if you don,t know what dpx-7000 is you better wake up before there gone there is also a dpx-2000 but i have the 7000 and it,s all up hill baby, from Alley cat . end of line.

I bought this unit to transfer VCR tapes to DVD. This machine did do this, but the results were unsatisfactory. There is no ability to edit chapter titles, and once you eject the DVD, without finalizing, you cannot put it back in to finalize- it will not work. I can get better quality results from my DVD/VCR unit, or my computer. I would not ever purchase this product again.

Who wrote the manual for this? Why is the setup chapter at the end? It should be at the beginning. And it should be referenced in each of the various modes. And also, the fact that you have to reset the timer every single time after it completes a timing session, before you record again, that should be something that stays until you reset it. Other than that, it is fairly straightforward nice little machine.

I have made DVD's from VHS tapes and directly from my Sony video camera, everything worked well. The DVD's from VHS tapes were not as clear as the ones from my video camera. The VHS home movies were 16 years old so perhaps that is why they were not as clear. All and all this Sony burner is well worth the money.

I purchased Sony because of years of using their products in a professional surveillance field, and they are constantly reliable more than any other brand name I can think of. I use it for burning DVD's from a non-Sony HD Camcorder. It worked well so far. I haven't tried dubbing copyright movies, but I didn't plan to when I purchased it, so I don't know if it works for those applications or not. One day I will also hook up a vcr for old family videos recorded from the late 80's to the late 90's, I don't anticipate any problems doing that either. It's small so very portable and easy to hook up in no time.

I was skeptical, but bought this unit anyway because I could not use the software that came with my new HD camcorder. There seemed to be a conflict and the only way I could watch my videos was to attach the camera to my TV. This recorder is very easy to use and the HD quality is perfect. You can downgrade the quality to SD for normal DVD playback and that quality isn't as good, obviously, but still very satisfactory. I would recommend this to anyone.

I was really impressed by the capability of this DVR to detect the end of a miniDV tape from my camera, even through an RCA cable. I needed to copy some miniDV tapes to DVD, and this beauty allowed me to just press record and then play on the miniDV camera, and the DVR would actually pause once the video on the tape ended. Other DVRs would record forever the blue screen of my camera, so this allowed me to relax and not setup timers and alarms every time i needed to copy two tapes on one DVD.

This is the best product, without Question, to make DVD videos and slide shows from your digital cameras. The slide show it makes is awesome and so easy. It also converts DVD's from older video cameras such as Hi8 and VHS players. Just hook the devices together and make sure of the time requirements of the tape then press record. You can even edit.

This product is great. we have had a handyman 8mm camera for some time but we never used it much because of how much of a pain it was to move the video off of the 8mm tape. This device has brought new life to the camera. We are busy copying all of our tapes to DVD and it is easy to use and quick to setup.
