I use this drive paired with the Atomos Ninja 2 for ProRes video acquisition. It is totally silent and hasn't dropped a frame yet. I would purchase again.

Most 2.5" SSDs are 9mm thick while this one is only 7mm, perfect for those low profile laptops. SATA3@6GBps. Data migration software works just great with my USB-2.5" SATA enclosure. The only thing not that great is that the data migration software does not take care of hidden parittion. Now days laptop vendors usually setup a hidden partition for programs/data needed for system restore. So if you decided to reinstall the whole system later, you're on your own.

Migrated my OS on to this ssd and have been really impressed with the performance gain. It may not be as fast as the SLC models but it's a much better value in the dollar to Gb ratio.

This replaced the original 250GB 7200 RPM 3.5" drive in my aging iMac. WOW! What a difference! And at a great price. Installation was not that difficult following the video instructions at OWC. But, I did order the Newer Technology AdaptaDrive 2.5" to 3.5" converter bracket. This allowed for a perfect fit in the iMac's (early 2008) 3.5" drive bay. Other less expensive adapter solutions place the drive in a position that will not allow the SATA power and data cables to reach the drive. With regard to reliability, we'll just have to wait and see. But so far so good.

After purchasing a Samsung 840 for my wife's laptop, I've been a bit envious about the fast boot times and quick data access. Prices finally dropped on the 250GB drive and I jumped at the offer on Adorama's site. Ordering was simple, shipped that evening and within 24 hours I was up and running. Great experience.

I upgraded the primary hard drive in my Alienware M17x R4 notebook computer from a 500GB 7200 rpm hard drive. The difference is amazing. The SSD is blazing fast under Windows 7 64bit. The cloning of my old hard drive was smooth and accomplished within an hour using Samsung's data migration software. If you are thinking about an upgrade and are not sure if an SSD will meet your needs, hesitate no further, because it will breathe new life into your computer!

Pros: Really Freakin' Fast - slightly faster than advertised even. Cons: Fairly expensive, imho Only Updateable On Windows Lacks Hardware To Install Other: I don't know about reliability. We'll See. I'm very pleased with it so far.

It's generally much faster than a HDD no doubt. I can't comment on reliability since it's new, so far no issue at all. Win8 is fully loaded in about 30 seconds including all the background applications and internet connected (and I have lots of them), it was taking a good 5 minutes before, that's the best part of this SSD and Win8 takes advantage of it as well. Most applications like MS Office load almost instantly, heavier apps such as Corel PaintShop Pro need a few more seconds. However it sometimes lags when displaying folder items just like a HDD. Also I had to change my motherboard to use SSD's, my only 3 years old previous mobo was not accepting SSD's at all, something to keep in mind and check before pulling the trigger (I knew I had to change mine before buying this SSD). On the benchmark I noticed that it is slower than announced by Samsung and it is not due to lack of a fast mobo as I have one of the top of the line AM3+ gaming mobos available from ASUS supporting SATA3 with a decent 3 years old 4 cores processor. Overall I'm happy with it, the cost is now becoming acceptable for the speed gain it provides but of course with lots of media files there is need for additional HDD storage. 250GB is plenty for the system, applications and common documents when combined with at least one HDD for mass storage. Giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because it is not as fast as advertised but I still love it.

My laptop HD died so needed to replace it. All the negative comments about SSDs in general had me a bit scared but this particular one seemed to have less than all the others so I took a chance on SSDs and bought it. It installed easily and I loaded up all the software on it speedily and without incident. I've only had it for about a week but it's working great. Loads Win 7 in about 12 seconds so I'm thrilled. I will create a set of back-up image disks when I get all the stuff loaded and working as I want but within a week or two so that if I have any problems I can re-image a replacement quickly. I'm happy so far.

TLC memory is a bit of an unknown yet but I got this a bit cheaper and it's been good so far. It's in my gaming system so it sees mostly reads. Until more is truly known about the life expencenty of TLC memory I wouldn't use it in a heavy write environment. And really, Samsung could throw in an adaptor bracket without making you buy the full kit.
