I'm not the research guy like so many others profess to be, but I did read all their comments before purchasing and I have faith in Consumer Reports who called this a "best buy." I admit that I favored the Pioneer over the Samsung, but it was so much more expensive that the savings were too great for the difference in perceived quality. My only knock on the Samsung is the sound quality. If you are going to build a product that uses both sight and sound to enthrall you, why wow us with one feature and disappoint us with the other? I don't think they should simply assume that everyone is going to run out and purchase a comparable sound system. For now I've turned the sound off and am using a Bose Acoustic Wave and it's great. I tried using them both at the same time but because the sound comes out the back of the Samsung and bounces off the wall, the sound doesn't reach me at the same time and it distorts it enough to be bothersome. I was surprised considering I sit only 10' away. Be prepared for this if you have other sound ideas in mind. I marvel at the picture each time I turn it on and I've found a way to get my son to visit on the weekends for sporting events. For that it's worth twice the price (but I'm glad it's not).
