When I opened the box and examined the tripod it caught my attention that the pistol grip plastic was separating a little the quick release plate doesn't lock very well (My DSLR fell off) overall an okay tripod for beginner photographers and videographers

I used this to hold up one end of a lightweight dslr slider, and also as a tripod for a static second camera on a shoot. There is no connecting support between the legs so when it's wide open it very flimsy. The legs bow and there isn't enough traction to keep the feet from sliding around. Useless tripod. Will be returning probably will just put in a bit more cash to go with a lower end Manfrotto.

This is a great tripod - it was part of a package so I thought it was great. It will serve the purpose of what I need it for.

Adorama has a nice collection of Tripods, do yourself a favor and buy something else. This is a promotional kit, and not what it appears to be. First, the pistol ballhead is approx. 1/2 size, you can barely fit 2 fingers on the grip. The grip itself is incredibly hard to squeeze (not like a regular pistol grip) and there is no tension adjustment. I have arthritis and it is impossible for me to use it. The other problem is the plate on the pistol grip that holds your camera is very cheaply made, and won't tighted properly. I wanted to use this tripod for portrait shots (with my camera tilted) and that's impossible. My T3 with a Kit lens (less than 2 lbs) just slides around, no matter how much you tighten the plate to the bottom of the camera. Adorama sells several good pistol grips, buy one of those.

Pros: -Not too heavy so it's great to carry around, but sturdy enough to hold the camera steady for long exposure shots. -4 Bubble levels for all axes. Great for aligning everything quickly. -Sturdy enough for most SLR's with kit-type lenses. -Pistol grip allows quick adjustment. -Removable camera mount attaches firmly. Cons: -Pistol grip release is tight, so the head is either locked or really loose in all three axes so you can't pan smoothly with a camcorder. -Pistol grip tightening screw can loosen easily. Watch out or you may have the entire head fall off.

With my t4i I wanted to take advantage of the video. Pros: The Gun Grip makes moving smooth Stable and tight ball head and pistol I use a 27-135mm USM IS for my SLR and it holds up just fine. Height is just right for me (i'm 5'9) Cons: The Pistol Grip is removable but is very easy to screw on and off. Just need to watch it when you pan or rotate as I've accidently unscrewed it rather then pan. Probably not good for a large telephoto lens. There's no clear way to tighten the ball head if it gets loose. Other: Theres a screw/knob on the right of the ball grip which isnt labelled in the manual which might be used to tighten the ball head joint. The replacement heads for these models are cheap in price so not really a big deal if it gets damaged

Excellent tripod for the money! Very stable considering it's compact size. Works VERY well as "strap to pack" unit. I have found it works extremely well while connected to the camera as an under the arm stability unit, simply tilt the camera back, lock and you have great stabilizer that quickly drops to normal tripod use! Upon receiving the unit, I unpacked it and noticed immediately that the plate lock was in the bottom of the bag. I called Adorama and told customer service it was broken and they had a new one to me the day after! Amazing service, very pleased with the unit and Adorama's service!

This tripod broke the first time I used it. The crank that brings up the center post broke because the plastic casing around the crank arm is junk. Do not buy this tripod if you are planning to raise/lower the center post

I bought four tripods for my High School photography class I teach. I needed something that wouldn't break easily. The kids put the tools to the test and this one got an A-. I have had bigger beefier tripods which bought quicker. So far, I am very pleased with this purchase.

Works ok, but the detachable camera platform (on the head of the tripod, where you attach your camera) can easily be lost. If lost, the tripod is worthless. There is no second platform that comes with the product.

Purchased to use with high end compact cameras and super zooms when I don't want to haul the DSLR system around with the big tripod. I don't think it would be able to handle a DSLR with a big (70-300)telephoto or larger without some lens creeping. Just not designed for that kind of application.

Seems like a good entry level Tripod. So far used it once, seems like good design and looks good. So far good bang for buck, I will updated review if there is any issue.

The Sunpak 6200PG 3-Section Aluminum Tripod with Pistol Grip Ballhead is a three-section tripod with aluminum legs, a polycarbonate chassis and a pistol-grip ball head that facilitates the easiest and quickest method of setting and locking a camera's orientation. The removable ballhead features a quick-release plate for rapid setup changes, with a standard 1/4"-20 stud for the widest compatibility.
The compact, full-size 6200PG is designed to work with full-size DSLR cameras with a total weight (lens included) of 4.4 lb. That load capacity also will accommodate many compact HD camcorders and the support system might be ideal for using such a camcorder on a shoot that involves static shots that require rock-solid stability.
Along those lines, the three-section legs feature braces for added stability and rubber feet with retractable spikes. The legs and the geared center column raise the tripod to a maximum height of 60.5". The lowest possible operating height is 23.25" and for the ultimate combination of stability and height, the tripod extends to a maximum of 48.25" with the center column retracted fully.
