Not a good flash

I bought this flash for use in a product photography studio as a slave flash and to use with my Canon 20D as a shoe-mount flash and the problem is, it only fires half the time and I can't depend on it as a slave and it doesn't work at all as a shoe-mount flash on my Canon! Major bummer!
