I bought this ringlight because it was supposed to have a filter thread of 67mm, the same as my 85mm. There are no threads at all on this light so it just kind of hangs there. It is useless with the 85mm which is why I bought it.I was planning to use this for portature but the LEDs seem too bright for the subject. IT is hard on the eyes. It did work better on my 50mm because it actually fit around the lens and could not move out of place or into the lens view area like it would on the 85mm. Plus I think the LEDs are a bit harsh for portrature. It works great for still life photography. Too bad I do not do much these days.

Since buying my macro lens I've been in search of the best lighting I can get with a limited budget in mind. I've tried other products but so far this is the easiest and least cumbersome solution. I shoot a lot of bugs and this allows me to get close without another piece of equipment in the way. I bought the step up adapter ring for my 100mm lens and it does a great job of keeping the ring light out of my shots. I had read some reviews where people said the light could creep into the shot without the photographer being aware of it. The adapter was well worth the few extra dollars. I would recommend the ring light and adapter ring.

I have not used this a lot yet, but it seems to do a good job of lighting macro subjects. It is a very affordable alternative to the very expensive, dedicated macro flash units.

This product was invaluable while photographing small jewelry items, coins, stamps and just about every small item I put it over. Outdoors it was great while shooting insects and flowers. The two output settings it offers are suitable in a large variety of situations. For the price it is just a remarkable addition to my tool kit.

Works great when photographing gem stones, coins, other small items. Worked well for portraits and all macro photos so far. Looking forward to spring and the small wildlife that abounds here. One of the best investments I have made.

While not as bright as might be desired, this does work well for closeups. My biggest complaint is that the ring does not fit even some smaller lenses, and there is nothing to hold it onto any lens. Some simple rubber ring might help here. Nontheless, it seems well worth the relatively small price.

If you have plenty of room to maneuver, this will get light to your small subject. If there is anything in view that reflects, you might get a small ring of lights in your photo. Overall, it does the job for some close-up work.

Found a great tool for fill light on E-PL1 videos of interviews with people. Have to be care full if they wear glasses however.
