I used this tripod for 2 1/2 years and love it despite some shortcomings. PROS: LIGHTWEIGHT! This is the main reason I love it (I use OP/TECH USA Tripod Strap, it is comfortable over my shoulder). The tripod is sturdy enough, but I did not use it in a strong wind. The legs can be quickly adjusted and secured. CONS: 1) Pistol grip was too tight, I bought Opteka pistol grip for about $40 instead. 2) Locking screw for the central column got worn out after ~2 years, and the manufacturer sent me a new one - no questions asked. It is better to minimize use of the central column. 3) One very minor issue is that pointed tips on the leg bottoms are not tightly secured in position, just be careful not to scratch floors.

It is perfect. Like the pistol grip. Because of the pistol grip it is very easy to adjust and compose the shot.

I have had this tripod for about a year but haven't been that hard on it. Just found (for no reason I can think of) that the plastic piece on the hinge for the leg has broken off and the leg is now unstable. Gluing the piece back is little relief.

For the price this is pretty good. With a large lens it is more stable than another tripod I have which is the reason I got this one. I researched online and I have had the same issue others have had. The little spring that makes the little locking lever pop out came off in the first few times using it. Not a biggie but you would think they may develop a fix for this. To be honest I can't find anything wrong with a stable, light, tall and cool looking carbon fiber tripod for [$]! The pistol grip ball head is different than my other tripod but I am getting used to it and so far I really like it.

The tripod looked good out of the box, though there's much more camera shake than I would have thought. Using the camera's timer and securing the lens cap and camera strap helps somewhat. It is very difficult to make fine adjustments with the pistol grip since you have to squeeze the trigger so hard. This is a problem for zoom shots.

The quick grip ball head is badly designed. To get the BH to turn vertically, you have to align the shaft along a small cutout which limits it's flexibiliy. The QR brake does not hold well and the camera will creep. Tightening the retaining ring merely results in getting stripped. While the concept is nice, it is constructed cheaply as evident by it's price. You get what you pay for.

The grip ball head is great ,and very functional.Only if it had a bit more rotational angle.

Sturdy tripod, carbon doesn't freeze my fingers, love the bag it came with also. I suggest a cable release and you'll love the combo. i LOVE the pistol grip, it is so fast and flexible. And the price is super.

Very versital in the field, you can position the legs at any angle you might need. The one great thing about it is that it is very light and easy to carry in the wild. I love the pistol grip ball head and max height.Ball head makes it easy to get camera level.

The description said the legs are adjustable to 3 angles, but I did not find it to be accurate, at least not in the particular unit that I got. One of the head levers was cracked, and was made of a very weak type of plastic, as are other parts of the tripod. Don't waste your money on this.

The Sunpak PRO 423PX2 is surprisingly lightweight and stable, although it tends to get a bit wobbly when fully extended. It is great for most situations, easy to transport, unfolds and folds up nicely, and is a great addition to my inventory. Definitely worth the money. I particularly like the pistol grip.[...]
