ed r : How do you reverse the 1/4-20 to the 3/8 thread?MARSHALL M : Purchase the adaptor. I added a ball head to my Sunpak PRO and it works great. MarshallROBERT B : You don't reverse it.....you should have a separate accessory......unscrew the stabilizer hook at the bottom of hight rod and remove it by lifting up on it.....now replace that rod with the rod with the 3/8 accessoryGEORGE B : I think all you need is the appropiate 1/4-20 to 3/8-16 inch tripod adapter. Adorama should have what you need for around 3 to 5 dollars.Hope that helps you get started.LEEB
AJIT P : is the ballhead QR clamp compatible with arca swiss type plates?STANLEY B : I don't know, however the pistol grip was totally unsatisfactory. I mounted the Nikon d7000 with an 18-200 lense and found that it would not support the camera. It kept flopping downward.STEPHANIE D : Unsure
Shopper : How much does it weigh?DAWN W : i do not have the actual weight, but im a fairly fit 21 year old and it is light enough to just hold and walk around for hours and not really notice it.GENE B : I am presntly out of town and do not have access to the tripod. But, I was quite impressed with it's light weight when if first received it. If you will wait until this Wednesday, I will return home and transmit the weight to you.

Lightweight, ok tripod

I used this tripod for 2 1/2 years and love it despite some shortcomings. PROS: LIGHTWEIGHT! This is the main reason I love it (I use OP/TECH USA Tripod Strap, it is comfortable over my shoulder). The tripod is sturdy enough, but I did not use it in a strong wind. The legs can be quickly adjusted and secured. CONS: 1) Pistol grip was too tight, I bought Opteka pistol grip for about $40 instead. 2) Locking screw for the central column got worn out after ~2 years, and the manufacturer sent me a new one - no questions asked. It is better to minimize use of the central column. 3) One very minor issue is that pointed tips on the leg bottoms are not tightly secured in position, just be careful not to scratch floors.

Excellent tripod for the prize

It is perfect. Like the pistol grip. Because of the pistol grip it is very easy to adjust and compose the shot.

Broken Hinge

I have had this tripod for about a year but haven't been that hard on it. Just found (for no reason I can think of) that the plastic piece on the hinge for the leg has broken off and the leg is now unstable. Gluing the piece back is little relief.

Good features for the price

For the price this is pretty good. With a large lens it is more stable than another tripod I have which is the reason I got this one. I researched online and I have had the same issue others have had. The little spring that makes the little locking lever pop out came off in the first few times using it. Not a biggie but you would think they may develop a fix for this. To be honest I can't find anything wrong with a stable, light, tall and cool looking carbon fiber tripod for [$]! The pistol grip ball head is different than my other tripod but I am getting used to it and so far I really like it.

Disappointed

The tripod looked good out of the box, though there's much more camera shake than I would have thought. Using the camera's timer and securing the lens cap and camera strap helps somewhat. It is very difficult to make fine adjustments with the pistol grip since you have to squeeze the trigger so hard. This is a problem for zoom shots.

Good value but ball head is weak

The quick grip ball head is badly designed. To get the BH to turn vertically, you have to align the shaft along a small cutout which limits it's flexibiliy. The QR brake does not hold well and the camera will creep. Tightening the retaining ring merely results in getting stripped. While the concept is nice, it is constructed cheaply as evident by it's price. You get what you pay for.

Sturdy tripod, carbon doesn't freeze my fingers, love the bag it came with also. I suggest a cable release and you'll love the combo. i LOVE the pistol grip, it is so fast and flexible. And the price is super.

Don't waste your money.

The description said the legs are adjustable to 3 angles, but I did not find it to be accurate, at least not in the particular unit that I got. One of the head levers was cracked, and was made of a very weak type of plastic, as are other parts of the tripod. Don't waste your money on this.

Great tripod for medium duty use

The Sunpak PRO 423PX2 is surprisingly lightweight and stable, although it tends to get a bit wobbly when fully extended. It is great for most situations, easy to transport, unfolds and folds up nicely, and is a great addition to my inventory. Definitely worth the money. I particularly like the pistol grip.[...]
