About Sunpak PF20XD

• Compact auto flash for any camera and for easy use. The auto flash is an electronic flash for which a sensor automatically adjusts the amount of light.

The auto flash can be used whether attached to a camera or not because it adopts a method of flashing in wireless synchronization with the emission of light by another electronic flash.

You can readily enjoy flash photography by attaching the auto flash to various cameras, from the latest digital cameras to film cameras and range-finder cameras.

When pulling up the built-in panel, the flash is applicable to wide-angle lens. Compatible with digital cameras triggered by wireless auto flash.

The connecting cord is not necessary by wireless synchronization. The Slave Sensor senses and synchronizes with light reflected from the subject, but this flash will not synchronize in places where reflected light is weak.

Compatible with Pre-flash cancellation of digital camera with some types of digital cameras, the exposure is adjusted with first pre-flash and the picture is taken with the second flash.

The Pre-flash cancellation doesn't fire with the first pre-flash, but synchronize with second flash. Easy to install on camera with the attached bracket.

Fantastic little flash

A great flash for travel. I use it on my LX3 in the hotshoe. It has 3 auto modes and as far as I can tell, is the only compact flash unit to offer fractional flash power in manual mode. It is a bit odd that there is no 1/2 power setting. It goes from FULL to 1/4 to 1/8 and so on. Recycle time can be about 8 seconds at full power. There are 3 modes for the flash: hotshoe, optical slave, and optical slave with pre-flash cancellation. The pre-flash cancelling mode works great with my Pentax and ...

Hotshoe works also. The big downside is that the selector switch for these 3 modes is so small you need a pen tip to switch between them. It is no replacement for a bigger flash, as it has no bounce, and GN of 20m. But it's great as a travel flash or a flash slave. It's small and can be dialed down, so could probably be used as a background or hair light in a pinch.

Doesnt work with Fujifilm XPro1 :(

I bought this as a flash to use on my FujiFilm XPro1, unfortunately, it doesnt work connected directly to the cameras hotshoe. All my other flashes do, but this one doesnt for some reason. It will however connect to the pc sync and work. but thats just annoying. Other then that this flash is great on other cameras and is very versatile.

Best Little Flash

By

from NYC  -  Professional

This little workhorse is cheap and provides all the light one might need for most small camera photography. Off shoe it's even better. I bought it because it's completely manual or auto. Too bright? Just dial it down until the light is just a kiss. Flip up the defuser for even less light. Buy two because they're inexpensive and the hotshoe invariably breaks off on the 4th bump. Also use a bit of tape to keep it from switching on in your bag.

I have no regrets having bought this flash, its great for parties when close up shots are needed, the auto flash feature is excellent.I suggest you purchase one before Sunpak , no longer offers them.

versatile

This unit is very small and lightweight, using only 2 AAA batteries. This, combined with the built-in optical slave makes it great for off-camera flash techniques. The flash can be easily taped or rubber-banded anyplace you need more light (which you can't always do with a bulky full-sized flash). The pre-flash cancellation mode for the slave works great with my Canon point-n-shoot, but not so well with my Canon XSi. However it is still a favorite gadget in my camera bag. Very handy!

Well suited for travel

By

This is a very good little flash that I use while travelling. Used with Mamiya 6MF and Bessa III cameras. At few occasions, it refused to work. I removed the batteries wait a little and then it works again…. But otherwise, it works fine.

Shopper  this product can suitable for nikon D3100 and for profetional use?
YUKIHIRO Y  Hello, Actually, I purchased the same "Sunpak PF20XD Variable Power Flash for All Digital Cameras, Guide Number ISO 100 - Feet 65" from adorama in January and February but one unit has not arrived. The one I purchased in January has been missing. I bought two units but only one has arrived. I was supposed to received via MyUS in Japan but even if I asked DHL about it, they said they have no responsibility. When I asked MyUS, they told me to fill out details the form and I am in trouble. It is like money is thrown away. Can adorama give assurance? I continue to use its service so your consideration is highly appreciated.
Richard C  Can this flash be used with a Sony DSC-HX300 camera?
EMMETT T  I have used the Sunpak PF20XD with the Canon rebel xti and the Nikon d90; works well with both of those cameras. Best, Emmett
