Questions & Answers

Shopper : I have Flashpiont M320, 4 of them. I'm wondering if this powerpack is enough to power for all 4 of my M320 or should I go with the 800WS model? Can you someone give me some guidance on this?ANDREW R : This power supply is not compatible with the 320M monolights (monolights do not require a separate power supply). The Speedotron Brownline D402 is compatible only with Speedotron Brownline heads.
Shopper : I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one?ADRIENNE A : I was replacing one from a kit I had that I blew when plugging it into a European socket. It's fine, does the job. But I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to attach a wireless controller.MITCHELL W : I chose Dynalite AP2000 because of small size and durability in addition to very rapid recycle and short flash duration (critical for what I do). Having been a pro for 20 years I thought I'd try something new. Used to use Speedo black line in studio and local location, also used lots and lots of White Lightnings. Started doing more travel photo and the Speedo black line is too heavy at the higher power end. Dynalite has a tried and trued design...great for location. No frills but reliable. Brown line has tended to not have professional features that are necessary (based on others' reviews and tests/comparisons I've read). Speedotron has a great reputation, many companies do. If you're going to be hard on your equipment and demand consistency of output and color temp. as well as need a broad range of accessories study each brand very carefully. My biggest dislike of the Brown line is the model lamp on some of the heads. If you're going to be a pro get the best you can afford. Common and frustrating advice but it's true. See if you can "try before you buy", borrow or rent a couple of systems before you decide. Makes a big difference. Also consider the amount of used stuff available. You'll probably find more Black line than brown.JONATHAN H : Honestly, I've been using Dyna-Lite power packs and flash heads for many years, either for myself or assisting other photographers. It's pretty much what I know. I've never used Speedotron gear, so I can't say anything good, nor bad about them. But I can tell you that I really like how easy and durable Dyna-Lite equipment is. Dyna-Lite power packs are tanks and super easy to use. They're also very portable. I've never had a problem with their products, and at this point, don't have any intention on switching to any other brand of strobe gear. I hope this helps. Good luck!JEFF H : I bought the Acute system because it will shoot both 110 and 220 volt. I travel and being able to shoot worldwide without a large, bulky transformer is worth a lot these days. The Acute system is bulletproof. The Speedotron system is the second tier of Speedotron.

Excellent for 3 and 4 head setups

This pack is small, affordable, and great for 2,3,or 4 light portraiture using a d-slr at ISO's from 100 to 400 using umbrellas or softboxes. Using one head, it can light an entire living room with a ceiling bounced M11 or M90 flash head. Recycle time is amply fast for portraiture. Excellent value for the money. Flash output is almost too powerful with only one light in use; really is optimal for use with 2 to 4 heads. With Tri-Level control or Y splitter cable many more power output varitions can be achieved.

In the studio or on the road, the D402 LV packs 400Ws of dependable power that can be channeled through one light unit, or split symmetrically or asymmetrically to up to four. It recycles in a blazing 1.7 seconds. 7.9x5.6x7.3", 11 lbs.
