I'm using it for backpacking through the Philippines right now. It's perfect to lug around between boats planes and the busses. 90% of the time I roll out and the wheels work properly perfect. If crossing hanging bridges the backpack worked nice however for a trek it would be hard. I have a light stand with me on most of the time my flashes are in there as well. The only thing that is not my fav is the handle gets sometimes stuck, but less than on most others similar luggages

Really nicely designed backpack with wheels. Has lots of internal room but just a little bit too big to fit in an overhead compartment.

Purchased for international travel. Wanted one wheeled bag to move from plane to train etc. Easily held a weeks work of gear and held up to the treatment from the baggage handlers. Looking forward to using this again in the spring for travel to Europe.

Used this trip for a week long trip to Europe. Filled it with: 1 large, 2 medium & 1 small ebag packing cube, 1 dopp bag and 1 pair of shoes. barely space left after, so if you travel fully equipped, this bag might be too small. Total weight was ~ 17 kg, so there was room before the international weight limit. Build quality is great, zippers are sturdy. Did not use the backpack feature this time, but care must be taken to fold the straps away, so they won't be caught during loading and unloading. Did stand up well to the loving care from luggage handlers. Large wheels make this bag easy to handle, handles on each side allow comfortable holding.

Some features (buckles, zippers, flaps) seem to be more form than function. The bag is maybe slightly heavier than I would like. Overall well built

Good build quality and materials. Lighter than I thought it'd be. My only gripe is the flap that covers the top outside compartment makes zipping the top and bottom compartments unnecessarily difficult.

As usual timbuk2 produced a quality bag (especially at the $100 sale price). Though I would prefer a tad more compartmentalization (there's pretty much just one), the biggest fault is that it doesn't fit easily into an overhead compartment. This was well documented in the description so I'm not complaining that I was duped, just worth noting for any potential buyer.

Not quite as sleek or tough as the Victorinox rolling backpack, but for half the price, it's a keeper. I haven't tested the water resistance, but the fabric feels like it will shed a light rain well. Lots of room inside - but it would be hard to pass this off as carry on even in backpack mode.

Sizable back that isn't too heavy considering the dual functionality. Fabric is nice and looks like it will shed some water. Just a bit too large for carry on - and it doesn't really look like a backpack so it would be harder to sneak on as carry on.

This one of the nicest bag I own. I will never use it as a backpack, but i will sure it use it as a roller. The bag it self is really well made and lightweight. I love the size of the wheels.

Great quality, lots of storage, and rolls very nicely. As the description says, it converts into backpack (although it might be a little heavy on your back). Great price and great looks. I wish Timbuk2 would keep this style/color.

This bag is a must for on location shooting. Has a place for everything! Wheels for easy transporting from location to location. Haven't used as a back pack yet. Love that I can lay the bag down and grab on go.

Packed on your back or rolled like a suitcase, the Timbuk2 Large Aviator Wheeled Backpack (Black Farp/Carbon Ripstop) is a high capacity, expertly organized pack with sophisticated styling that works downtown or way out of town. Panel loading gives it the easy access of a duffel and its expandable top flap enables you to buy those boots you can't resist.
A lightweight frame and grab handles everywhere make it easy to heave ho and strategically placed external zipper pockets facilitate last-minute grabs. Its bike-grip inspired handle system and skateboard wheels give it an easy, urban roll no one else has. And when confronted with stairs, the Aviator's backpack straps untuck and easily clip into place for a secure carry. Then if things get really hairy, you can bust out the removable hip belt and rain fly for a dry supported walkabout.
