This is the perfect size to hold my Nikon D700 with 24-85 f/2.8 lens attached and extra lens. Just for fun, I added my D300s body (no lens attached) in the center, my 80-400 zoom in one of the side compartments inside the bag, (will not fit with camera attached) a small SB400 flash, 50mm f/1.8, 3 batteries, Lumix pocket camera, chargers for the cameras, and my iPad. I tried the D300s with the 70-300 zoom and it does fit, so you could carry two rigs with lens attached. The iPad will also fit in the top outer back pocket so you could also fit a small thin laptop on the inside pocket in addition to the iPad. I am going to use this on my upcoming cruise to test for durability. I secured the strap by facing the release device facing outward from the bag to avoid any stress that could cause failure on the release mechanism. For the cruise I am only taking one body, 24-85 zoom and possibly the 70-300 zoom plus a 50mm f/1.8 lens and small flash plus batteries and a spare CF card and of course my iPad with all the charging equipment. This bag appears to be well made and well thought out i.e. the off centered handle which allows you to pick the bag up without the flap secured and not spilling the contents, layout of the pockets etc. I used this today for an outing and was comfortable with the padding in the strap and back of the bag that makes contact with you. I did add more padding inside on the bottom just to keep my equipment safer. The top flap will not keep the rain out on the top sides of the flap so I will keep a small plastic bag to cover the bag if needed. You can put more stuff in this bag than you might be willing to carry. A D3 type body or attached grip will NOT fit. All things considered, a good fit. Happy shooting!

I have a tendency to carry too much equipment with me on assignments so this bag keeps me from packing everything in at one time. Currently I can carry a Nikon D700 with a 16-35 F/4 zoom as well as an 80-200 F/2.8 lens next to it. In the third inside pocket I have two SB-800 flashes, a SU-800 Commander and an old 55mm micro Nikkor. The front pockets are for an extra camera battery, extra compact flash cards and other misc items. An Ipad or small laptop fits nicely into the large rear pocket. A question came up in a review about attaching a small tripod. While it might be done with this bag, it wouldn't be easy. It's not something that I would do. This bag is comfortable with easy access to all camera items. It appears well constructed and after seven months of constant use it shows few signs of wear. Before this one I used a backpack style bag and it just became to heavy and cumbersome to use on a regular basis. If you can get away from carrying everything you own at one time then this bag will probably serve all your camera bag needs and then some.

This bag is perfect for my MacBook Pro and iPad plus miscellaneous items when in town and for carrying my iPad and camera gear when I travel. I was concerned it might be to small, but it's perfect for my needs. Great quality construction. The shoulder pad is the best I've seen to date. The top zipper is great when on the move. The flat bottom is great, so the bag does not fall over (as most messenger bags do).

Just the right size.
