Previous reviews had mentioned problems getting this replacement battery in and out of the camera, but it has fit perfectly in my Canon 40 D without any probems or modifications.

I'm using two of these in a battery grip on a Canon 5D. So far I haven't been able to tell any difference between them and the much-more-expensive Canon batteries. Targus is a reputable firm so I don't expect any issues.

Alright, here is the secret to a perfect fit of this battery. I compared the original Canon battery to this one and saw a tiny difference in the size and shape of the front tabs. I used a pocket knife to scrape the tabs to the size and shape of the Canon and it snaps into place and springs out just as smooth as the Canon. I am including a shot of the tab. The amount I shaved off was amazingly small! I just used it over a four day weekend in PA, I took over 600 shots in 9 degree f weather and it is sill registering a full charge on the indicator. Yes 9 degrees in the wind and snow! I have not run out of power with this one battery. Maybe I didn't need to buy two.

I experienced the "Sticky Battery" syndrome. However, I discovered it can be fixed by shaving 1mm off the bottom of the right inside mounting rail that is next to the positive (+) connector. Once this is done the battery slides in and out with out problem. I used a Dremel Tool, but an Exacto or small file should work as well. *One note: The Battery also works in the new Canon 40D.

Works fine but its made a little fatter than a stock one , even with the little sticker removed. I use it in the BG-E2 in My 30D I use only one battery at a time so there is plenty of room to use a knife to get it out.

I purchased two of these a few months ago, they seem to last much longer than the stock Canon BP-511A. I have had no problems with it in my 5D, I have noticed no issues with the sticker causing it to jam. I have been charging them in my stock Canon chargers (single & dual) with no issues.

I read the reviews and was pleased when it charged as quickly as the Canon original. However, installation into my 5D is so tight that it requires a small screwdriver to lever it out! This is not ideal for a quick battery change and so will be my battery of 'last resort' for the day.

[...] My Refurbished Canon came with a BP511A that did not last as long as it should, so I got this Targus to replace it, and make the canon a back-up, and I am very happy I did. It lasts MUCH longer than my weak refurbished canon battery, and probably longer than a new original canon. The only weird thing I had with this battery was after the first charge, I took a few shots, and it was fine. The next day, it was dead, even though it only took a few shots the previous day. Recharged it, and it has worked flawlessly ever since. Glad I didn't try and exchange it.

Shot three gigs, over 800 images, at highest jpeg resolution before my 20D showed batteries less than full (I use the battery grip). I'll buy again if these ever wear out.

I wanted a battery that would allow me to shoot more photos without having to recharge. This battery does it. After a month of use I was so impressed with its performance that I got two more. When you get yours be sure to remove the tiny sticker on the terminal side. The first time I tried to remove the battery it would not come out of the camera. When finally removed and I realized the problem, each of the batteries has worked beautifully.
