Works fine on my 50D. I like not having to swap the batteries on longer shoots. The AA battery insert is nice to have when you're not somewhere that you can recharge the batteries. Came in handy during a camping trip.

Fit and finish are poor.I should have gone for the Canon.

Grip would not fit solidly in either of my 20D's. To be useable, I had to squeeze the grip into the body for the electrical connections to be made, so I don't use this grip at all.

Had problem with the first shipment. Followed all the instructions but would not power up the camera. Tried with different batteries and configurations. [...] I read similar reviews that had the same defective item that was replaced. So this might be a quality control problem in manufacturing.After the initial hiccups I am now enjoying and very happy with this unit. The battery door is a little flimsy but liveable. If you throw your camera around between shoots this won't survive the abuse. If you take care of your equipment this should be fine. You can use the grip with either one or two Canon batteries or regular AA batteries. It has the vertical controls and all. Has mounts for a tripod. Works well. If you can stand and afford the hassle of a possible defective unit then I recommend this.Otherwise, get the original Canon for about twice the price.[...]

if you want to upgrade your 20D or 30D this is a perfect accesorie for the price, a good quality construction, smooth finishes, maybe the dial doesn't feel like the camera ones, but this grip are a excelent choice if you want to save money for critical components like lenses, works great with the camera, no problems with the electric contacts, fit perfectly, the lateral side comparment for the bateries it's ok, just a little diffrence, but works great
