I saw this item in pop photography magazine and was a little leery when I saw the price compared to the original canon so I gave Adorama a call. [...] Having the option of using AA batteries as a back up is a MUST and this thing will do the job. All buttons and switches worked great so far the only thing is getting used to them in a different position. [...]I strongly recommend this item and Adorama.

Looks like the canon brand grip, but it has not the same quality, brand new and the vertical trigger failed, it works again from time to time

I have the grip attached at all times. The vertical grip is a positive addition increasing the cameras usefulness. The added battery life is particularly helpful in the studio due to battery drain when firing monolights. It also improves the handling aspect when in the field.

On recommendation from my part time photo-journ boss, I got this grip to increase the battery life and add balance and heft to my Rebel XT. I must say that using the camera without this feels like what an amputee must feel (okay, not THAT drastic). I have been shooting for a week now with this on and the batteries still haven't died or drained to non-use yet and taking pictures without it in a portrait format is VERY uncomfortable for my fairly big meaty hands, with the grip on - a breeze. Unless you have incredibly small hands, I would suggest this as a MUST HAVE, even with small hands, the extended power life is VERY worth it. Plus it comes with two batteries if you order from Adorama, you should NEVER be without power.

The first time i used the grip was at wedding. I shoot 600 photos most with flash and i'm still shooting with out charging. Lots of power for the camera and lens.

I tried to save a few bucks by purchasing this item. It worked OK for about 3 months but after that weird things started to happen like shutting off/turning on with no human interface. Once, while the camera was in manual mode, the shutter speed stuck at 1/1000 and could not be changed until I removed the grip. After inspection I noticed the plastic screws were coming unfastened and the handle was becoming "loose".In my opinion, at [$] the quality should be far better than it is. I had to by the much more expensive (too expensive) Canon grip to get reasonable service. Bad value all around.

This is a must have for any small digital SLR. The extra size to the camera makes it fit my big hands much easier. Plus the extra capacity of having 2 batteries in the base are a bonus. Then if you ever run out of juice there is the AA adapter.

Think several times before buying this product. I bought this product along with the Canon Hand Strap E-1 for my Rebel XTi and I couldn’t used it once, not even one picture. When I was trying to adjust the Hand Strap to the Targus Battery Grip, I started to notice the grip feeling loose on the camera. After closer inspection I notice the grip coming apart at the plate that houses the nuts to fasten the grip to the camera. Then I proceed to inspect the interior and I found that all the threaded plastic pins were broken with the pressure of my hand in the Hand Strap. Go figure it out, its your money… mine is gone. P.S.: to be fair with the Targus people, even though the grip is loose, it still works.

It was just what I thought it would be, a great product. I added the grip to my Rebel XTi and just love it. I carry it everywhere I go and have yet to encounter a problem with it. I have a Mark II that I hardly use now ever since I added this to my XTi. It's easy on and off feature with just the turn of the dial is a snap. Just remember to keep the back of the battery compartment of your camera in a safe place after you take it off.

We are very glad that we made this purchase for our Rebel XT. It adds bulk to what we found to be a small camera. Using this grip with two batteries gives you a lot of power. I would estimate that we took about 800 shots before the battery meter showed that there was a low charge. We do not use the buttons provided with the grip but that is a matter of personal preference. We find it less confusing to just stick to the camera controls. A word of caution. With two batteries loaded in this grip the camera may be a little heavy for some people. We don't see to mind that at all. This appears to be a well made product that works seamlessly with the camera.

The look of this grip is Identical to the Canon one from what I have seen. I have had the grip for months now and it has performed flawlessly. You'll notice the Buttons and the wheel feel a little softer to the touch than the Canon ones or the cameras buttons and wheel. The wheel Clicks are a little softer too. If you can get over that, than this is a great value for the money. I truly think it was well worth the savings over the Canon one. Overall, if you can deal with a little difference in feel, then you can get an awesome product at a great price. Save your money and buy this grip!

Definitely a nice product. Visually identical to the canon product. Greatly improves the feel of the camera and ease of use. The shutter button is a little softer feeling then the cameras. The scroll wheel has a softer click feel to it. Overall if you can get around the small difference in feel, it is a great buy for the money. Save some money and buy this one so you can buy other accessories.
