Would not recommend
Lens get tight and sticks when zooming in and out around the mid-point. Actually quite hard to turn and you have to use force to move it. The lens itself is amazing... I mean who wouldn't want an All in One lens. But it wasn't worth it to me to have to use so much force to turn a lens. Definitely could result in some missed shots; takes too much time to focus.

Great all-in-one lens!
As an ex-USAF photographer and wedding photographer, I am very picky about lenses. But for my new Nikon D5000 purchased for vacationing and travel I wanted just one lens to catch sexy shots on the beach in Cabo San Lucas plus wildlife in the jungles of Belize. If you want just one lens that will take care of all the basics yet not set you back huge dollars like the Nikon...go Tamron!
Now some complain about the stiffness of zooming in the 70-150mm range; which I find very helpful as it reduces lens creep in this range that is most often used when shooting photos. If you are wearing the camera around your neck be sure to use the lens lock or it will extend all the way out.
The only other concern is shooting with the built in Nikon flash as you will get lens shadow at the bottom of your photos if the lens hood is attached. You really need to get at least the Nikon SB400 flash; which eliminates this problem and gives you much better pictures with the additional lighting.
