I didn't want to throw down a ton of money until I decide what focal length I was going to use the most so I picked this up on a whim. The lens optically is actually very good! The corners are soft, but the center and mid corners are very good. Color and contrast are great. The downside is that the AF accuracy leaves a bit to be desired and with it being a zoom lens the AF adjustment in my D600 can somewhat help but not completely eliminate the AF issues. Still there's manual focus, and at f11 you have a bit of room for error. The lens does register as a 20-36 on my D600, although some have mentioned the lens registering as a 17-35 also. The newer 17-35 f4 is better of course, as is the slightly older 17-35 2.8-4.0 however neither lens is at this price point and the differences are primarily in AF accuracy.

I got the Tamron 19-35mm as a part of the kit when I got my D50... As my first lens, its great! I've been using it for a little over two weeks and have been very satisfied... Just purchased the 55-200mm VR and 50mm as a complement...
