Questions & Answers

MISAEL F : does it work with canon 5D Mark ii?MICHAEL S : Yes. I am using it on a Canon 5D Mark I, but it should actually perform better on the Mark II because of that camera's higher ISO capabilities. The lens is not especially fast, but it's light and compact, and its extended range has allowed me to get shots I might not have otherwise been able to take. Really ideal for tourism and travel, and surprisingly good as a portrait lens when used in the 85-105mm range.CHARLES T : Ought to, with the adapter. I have the EOS 6D. Should be same mount. Very good lens.James G : don't know, using sony camera - ask adorama
(unknown) ( : Does this lens have shake resistance?MICHAEL S : No. But being much smaller and lighter than the faster f2.8 lens, it tends to be easier to hand hold or rest on available surfaces. It's still a very versatile lens with a great range for the price.GARY Y : No, it does not have shake resistance, but I have not had trouble with it in this area. The same lens available through Canon was $2500.00. That's why I bought the Tamron!JOHN V : No, it does notCHARLES T : No, but it seems to perform well in low light, high speed situations. I have used it for everything from tripod landscapes to ISO 12,800 hockey games with excellent results. I suspect that long, hand-held exposures might be difficult, but have not lost many exposures due to to shake, even at 300 MM.JOHN M : This lens is not image stabalized.LYNN R : No. It is from the pre digital film age, hence no shake resistance, also known as vibration reduction.
Shopper : will this lens fit the rebel EOS SL1 camera?WILLIAM S : We bought this lens for our Rebel EOS XS camera and we love it!! I would think it would fit any of the Rebel Camera's.JOHN V : I'm not sure. I have the Rebel T1i.MICHAEL S : The Tamron 28-300 w/Canon mount will fit all current Canon DSLR's, but it is a full-frame lens so I would not recommend it for an APS-C model unless you don't care about the wide angle end of the spectrum. On the SL1, the de facto lens range will be ~42-450mm, so the short end will not provide the moderate wide angle capability that it does on a full frame system (I use mine on an EOS 5D Mark I). A better choice for the SL1 in the Tamron line would be the 18-270mm designed specifically for APS-C sized sensors.MARK R : I have this lens with a Nikon mount and a Canon mount. The Canon camera I have is a full sensor, hence I have no experience with this lens and sensor cameras. With the Nikon mount I am using it with fx and dx cameras successfully. According to the Canon website he lens in compatible with film, full size and apc size.GARY P : Yes I use this on a A1, & a EOS digital. I like it a lot.JOHN M : I use this lens on my EOS Rebel Xsi. I think this lens will fit all EOS cameras.CONNIE R : I have a Canon 2Ti- the Tamron lens has been a great match for me. I rarely use the lens that came with the camera as this one is so versatile.JANICE J : I'm not sure. it fits my Rebel T 3 canon, and I think it says it fits the EOS models.I would go to the Canon camera website and pose the question there to make absolutely sure before I purchased. I hope this helps you.LLOYD W : EOS SL1 is comparable with all EF & EF-S lenses .CHARLES T : Don't really know, but I would think so. I have the EOS 6, a full frame camera, and chose the lens for that coverage.

The Tamron 28-300mm is an outstanding all-around lens and I recommend it wholeheartedly!

This has been my ?go to? lens these past two years that I?ve been using this lens. It has worked beautifully in both optimum weather and in extremes (temps down to minus 50 degrees in Churchill, Manitoba). It?s focus is ultra sharp and the auto focus is satisfyingly quick. I?m a believer! I really have no complaints about this lens!

Great All-In-One

If you have a full frame camera and wish to keep your camera gear to a minimum, then this is a fantastic lens. My copy mounted to a Nikon D610 focuses accurately (minimal in-camera micro-adjustment made) and the VC on this Tamron works very well. This is one of my favorite "travel lenses". My only knocks: 1. If it could be 24 mm at the wide end and retain 300 mm at the long end, and retain the relatively good IQ, what a treat that would be. 2. Not quite tack sharp, but for such a large zoom capability, it's worth the compromise. A little bit of sharpening in post and you will have very nice captures.

I got this lens for my wife and she loves it. Great photos, auto-focus is good, and versatility is unmatched. Works for almost any situation without having to change lenses.

There seems to be something wrong with the AF on the lens

There seems to be something wrong with the AF on the lens. When I haven't used the lens for more than 20 minutes or so, it is very slow to focus, and requires multiple pushes on the shutter button. Then it seems to warm up and focuses quickly. I am planning to return & exchange it for hopefully a properly working lens.

A solid travel lens

If you're looking for one lens to take on a trip, definitely worth considering. It's not sharp, but you'll likely be happy with its results.

Great all around lens.

When I bought my Canon 5D recently, I needed a new telephoto zoom lens to go with it. I previously had a Canon 7D with a Tamron 18-270 lens, but that lens won't work with a full size sensor. I'd had such good luck with the 18-270, that I just thought I'd also like the 28-300 for my new camera. I was right - the new lens works great and will get a full work out this summer at local car shows and museums and next fall when my family and I go to Eastern Europe for a 3-week vacation. Can't wait to see our photos upon our return from that trip.

Event Photographer

After being very satisfied with my 18-270 lens on my EOS 50D I wanted a similar lens for my EOS 5D II. While the weather has kept me from doing a lot of photographing I have been very satisfied with the performance of this lens so far.

great and versitle lens

Provides great pictures. Mounted on my Cannon 6D Mark II. Great as it provides a large range of zoom. Pictures are excellent. The longer focal lengths are fantastic and the short are excellent., A great option that eliminates the need to have a collection of specific focal length lenses.

This is a good, all around zoom lens

This is a good, all around zoom lens for general photography, landscape and wildlife shooting. It is also good for indoor, large group shots. Don't expect razor sharp quality, but with a little patience, you can pull excellent photos from this lens. Just understand the limitations and you'll enjoy the versatility.

Another good zoom form Tamron

I have had 3 Tamron zoom lenses. The image quality is very good and the flexibility of the zoom give you the ability to adapt to virtually setting.

Great all around lens

I love shooting my Sony A99 with my Sony 50mm 1.4, but it is limited and I have to change lenses for close or distance shots. Although I have only purchased this recently and not had much time to evaluate it seems to be well made, durable, light weight. Focus is fast. So far good all around lens.

Does Exactly What You Would Expect

It's not L Glass, but it's not purported to be. Good solid build. Acceptably Sharp at all apertures and Focal Lengths. Controls took a bit to get used to, Will be taking it on a 2 week trip to Europe and hope to leave it on my camera most of the time.

Versatile and Great Quality

I recently used the Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 lens at a wedding and was very pleased with its versatility and the quality of the images. It rarely left my camera the whole day. Great lens for a great price, I would definitely recommend it.

Tamron 28-300mm lens for canon 5d MIII

I have a great selection of Canon lenses for my 5D and 6D; however, I wanted one lens that could be my go to for vacationing and driving around. With this lens I'm able to get great quality photo's without having to carry a bag full of specialized lens. That said, the other lenses continue to be used where the application calls for them. Couldn't be happier.

Great all-around lens

Days after receiving this lens, we took our grandson to the zoo. With its wide zoom range, I knew this would be my best lens choice. It certainly lived up to and exceeded my expectations. I did use the full zoom range, and it was great having that capability, considering some animals are close and others quite distant from where people can stand. The lens is relatively small, light, and the resolution is very good. Considering that the price is considerably less than the Nikon equivalent, this is a very good choice for a go-to lens.

Does the Job

I just stared using the lens. To this point I like everything about it. I guess Mostly I like it's size. I'm often on a ski slope, so next ski season it wont be cumbersome as I ski with it around my neck. Focus is quick and good. Have used both outside and inside, o this point it's a go.

So good I bought it twice

This is my walk around lens. I can zoom close and far so I keep this on the camera almost all the time. It does a great job quick focusing and no noticeable softness in the picture. I have two full frame cameras, so I bought this for both of them.

Great lens for travel

Received this lens next day from Adora and immediately attached it to me EOS 6D. I tested the lens, shooting various shots and was well pleased with the results. Fast auto focus and great vibration control made hand held shots at 300mm in focus. Also pleased with the lens on the low end although I probably won't use it there much. Lens is lighter than my other zooms so it will be great for travel.

Great all around solution

No this lens is not going to give you the resolution of a pro zoom or prime but it won't disappoint for its purpose as a travel lens either. Use it on my D810 when out walking and don't feel like schlepping my bag full of stuff.

FEATURED REVIEWS

Great VC, Clear Manual Focus

By RYAN V.

I bought this lens as a do everything lens for Nikon D700 and D3 cameras. None of my Nikon lenses cover this wide range of capabilities with an FX format camera. The Tamron macro and 28-300mm lens is a very light and compact lens with a wider zoom range than anything made by Nikon. It's amazing Tamron fit this much performance into a compact light package. While it can't compete build and quality wise with the Nikon lenses, it does an excellent job for what it was designed for and is an excel...

Versatility & Vibration Compensation

By Jeff C.

I really love my Tamron 28-300 mm lens. I have a little problem with being steady all the time and the vibration control (VC) really helps me a lot. It is even better for my girlfriend when she shoots low light situations with the VC. The large lens hood keeps out most of the glare that I have been getting with my 75-300 from canon. I no longer have to change lenses during wedding photography from my 18-55 to a 75-300. The Tamron is far superior in versatility to the canon 75-300mm that I...

Tamron's Di lenses featuring optical systems for use with both digital and film cameras have been highly evaluated by users around the world since the introduction of the first Di lens, SP AF28-75mm F/2.8 (Model A09), in 2003.

Many users strongly suggested that Tamron make the existing non-SP high power and compact 28-300mm lens they are using with their film cameras available in the Di design in order to realize the same convenience and quality images with digital cameras.

Tamron has redesigned the conventional AF28-300mm zoom (A06) to feature the Di design in order to meet the demand of those photographers.

Main Features:
High Image Quality by Virtue of Di (Digitally Integrated) Design:
• The "Di" design is achieved by first improving our BBAR coatings to a new multi-coating that encompasses all of the benefits of the original but now further reduces the ghosting and flare caused by aberrations, and secondly by further enhancing our already stringent quality control system.

The new AF28-300mm Di is redesigned as a high power zoom lens now ideal for use with interchangeable-lens digital cameras as well as film cameras.

Changes
1. Improved Coating:
• Newly developed Multi-coating ideal for digital imaging to reduce ghosting and flare caused by aberrations and to increase contrast
2. Enhanced Quality Control:
• Ensure mechanical and and optical meet new standard
3. Exterior design:
• Di logo on zoom rings

Same Convenience and Compactness:
• The amazing changes in angles of view of a 10.7X zoom lens are now available foryour digital SLR camera. This opens up a completely new horizon when combined with the fundamental attraction of digital SLR cameras; the possibility of confirming the quality or composition of captured images on the spot and the capability to allow the manipulation of images with a computer.

The new AF28-300mm Di enables photographers to enjoy the convenience of the high power zoom lens with digital SLR cameras, while offering the same compactness as that of the previous model designed primarily for film cameras.

Ideal for Use with Conventional Film Cameras As Well:
• The new AF28-300mm Di can be used with both digital SLR cameras and conventional35mm AF-SLR film cameras. It provides an impressive angle of view equivalent to that of approx. 465mm ultra telephoto when used with a digital camera and enables you to enjoy creative composition of images at the 28mm wideangle setting when used with a 35mm film camera.
