Nice all around travel lens

I use this one on hikes in the rugged hills north of home. One lens covers from relatively wide angle to telephoto. I use this on a full frame Canon and have not been disappointed yet. Would like image stabilization but get by with cranking up the ISO.

Great lens for shooting wildlife

I bought this lens for a trip to Africa. Great lens for shooting wildlife. Great range from 28 mm.to 300mm. No need to change lens in dusty conditions. Great lens for the money.

Great lens & Gift Idea

This lens was a great gift from my husband. I was thinking of buying the 70-300 lens but this one give more flexibility as it a wide-angle telephoto lens. I love the range and variation it gives. I would definitely recommend this lens to others.

Versatile, Capable, Economical

This is an extraordinarily versatile lens that performs capably in 80% or more of most shooting situations. Its compact size, light weight and wide-to-zoom range make it a perfect lens for travel photography and other outdoor shooting. While considerably slower than popular 70-200 f2.8 lenses, what it lacks in speed it makes up for with longer range and easier portability and handling at 1/4 the cost. On a Canon EOS 5D Mark I the lens has produced quality results used in a variety of situations, sports, portraits and macro.

This is the lens that lives on my camera

I have been shooting bald eagles as they fly and fish on the Mississippi River. This lens has helped me to capture details I did not get with my kit lenses. It is a fast focusing zoom if used in the proper conditions, i.e. sunny days. I have also used this lens to film my grandkids as they play basketball and the details are quite remarkable. For the price, you cannot beat this lens. It works well as a wide angle (28mm) as well as at full 300mm zoom.

Very easy & enjoyable picture taking!!!

This lens was one of the best investments I could have made for my camera & everyone & everything around me who ends up in one of my shots. By all means, I'm no pro, but it has certainly made me look good in a lot of situations, whether on the run, wide angle(where no one is safe) or to enjoy those far shots that I would have had to change the lens to get the shot. There is nothing I find more annoying then right before your ready to push the shutter button, you realize that it would be a better picture if you could just zoom in just a little more to make it worth taking. Let's face it, there are some shots that will simply never, ever, ever present themselves in just that way. Now we have all been there before, now haven't we? With this lens, you will be able to take those nice family shots that take the whole room to taking just a beautiful zoomed in face shot of that cute kid in the bunch or even your hubby or wife. Trust me, you will not be disappointed with this purchase.

Versatile, quiet, sharp

I have been using this Tamron lens with my Canon 20D for nearly two years. It is my workhorse. Except when I need a wider angle it is nearly always on my camera. Wonderful for zooming to the action in sports, easy to carry all day, great for family photographs. I love this lens!

Tamron 28-300mm Specifications

About Tamron 28-300mm

Tamron's Di lenses featuring optical systems for use with both digital and film cameras have been highly evaluated by users around the world since the introduction of the first Di lens, SP AF28-75mm F/2.8 (Model A09), in 2003.

Many users strongly suggested that Tamron make the existing non-SP high power and compact 28-300mm lens they are using with their film cameras available in the Di design in order to realize the same convenience and quality images with digital cameras.

Tamron has redesigned the conventional AF28-300mm zoom (A06) to feature the Di design in order to meet the demand of those photographers.

Main Features:
High Image Quality by Virtue of Di (Digitally Integrated) Design:
• The "Di" design is achieved by first improving our BBAR coatings to a new multi-coating that encompasses all of the benefits of the original but now further reduces the ghosting and flare caused by aberrations, and secondly by further enhancing our already stringent quality control system.

The new AF28-300mm Di is redesigned as a high power zoom lens now ideal for use with interchangeable-lens digital cameras as well as film cameras.

Changes
1. Improved Coating:
• Newly developed Multi-coating ideal for digital imaging to reduce ghosting and flare caused by aberrations and to increase contrast
2. Enhanced Quality Control:
• Ensure mechanical and and optical meet new standard
3. Exterior design:
• Di logo on zoom rings

Same Convenience and Compactness:
• The amazing changes in angles of view of a 10.7X zoom lens are now available foryour digital SLR camera. This opens up a completely new horizon when combined with the fundamental attraction of digital SLR cameras; the possibility of confirming the quality or composition of captured images on the spot and the capability to allow the manipulation of images with a computer.

The new AF28-300mm Di enables photographers to enjoy the convenience of the high power zoom lens with digital SLR cameras, while offering the same compactness as that of the previous model designed primarily for film cameras.

Ideal for Use with Conventional Film Cameras As Well:
• The new AF28-300mm Di can be used with both digital SLR cameras and conventional35mm AF-SLR film cameras. It provides an impressive angle of view equivalent to that of approx. 465mm ultra telephoto when used with a digital camera and enables you to enjoy creative composition of images at the 28mm wideangle setting when used with a 35mm film camera.
