This lens was great but started having a connection issue so I sent it in to be repaired since it was within the warranty time and they would not cover it. Super disappointed.

Fast shipping, great service. I absolutely love Adorama!! I've only had time to test out the lens a couple of times but so far it is absolutely amazing!!

Absolutely beautiful images...when the autofocus is working. I used this lens both indoor and outdoor and the autofocus was simply sub-standard. Maybe I received a bad copy but it had a hard time locking on anything. It would focus, and then re-focus, and then finally focus again after the third attempt. If the AF gets fixed, it could be a wonderful lens. I returned my copy and bought the 70-210 f4 and LOVE that lens. The AF and VC on it are amazing for what you pay.

I purchased this lens to shoot outdoor sports both at night and during the day. The Tamron SP AF 70-200mm worked beautifully in the presets - great color, speed, and clarity. However in manual it became clunky and lethargic, frequently losing connection to the camera body. I spoke with Roxanne at Adorama and a CSR with Tamron USA, both assured me that this was not normal and worked with me to generate an exchange. I would highly recommend this lens not only for the quality of the lens itself but also for the customer service provided by Adorama

I have really enjoyed this lens and find myself carrying it often. It is great for macro and at a distance. It creates sharp, colorful and consistent high quality images. Honestly, you can't go wrong with this. Highly recomended!

Even though I read that the actual focal length was less than the 200mm, I was suprised to see how much as compared to my Canon 70-200mm. It functioned ok, but the pictures with my Nikon D7500 were not near the quality of my Canon 7D with the Canon Lense. I recently made the switch to Nikon because I did not like any of the Canon replacement options. I returned the Tamron on went for it...I bought the AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm F/2.8E FL ED VR. This lense is very expensive I have not had a chance to use it yet.

Excellent lens! Has some weight to it, my opinion, but still love it! I can't wait to learn more about it and start taking some awesome pictures!

Best 200mm for the price. You cant beat this deal! Lens takes beautiful shots. I purchased this lens for concert photography but, I have not used it for this yet. Instead, I took it to the stanley cup playoffs in my hometown of Nashville, TN. It takes beautiful crystal clear photos. Would definitely say purchase thia now!

Great lens for taking those shots while staying out of the way of the action. A little on the heavy side but quick focusing and great sharpness.

I just picked this lens up before my last wedding. It performed beyond my expeditions. Super fast, super sharp, and great tones. My only gripe, as insignificant as it is, it is a bit loud. Overall, a killer lens.

I have use this in Landscape, and plan on using this in events, sports, wedding, etc.. I like the easy way to go from manuel to auto focusing, the fast recovery. All in all it's a good lense and good price for me.

SUMMARY In addition to this lens, I have owned the Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 ED, the Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 AF-s, the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR, and have used the Sigma f2.8 EX. This lens is on-par for sharpness with the Nikkor glass, and far better than the Sigma, which is a mess in terms of aberration and distortion at the extremes. I prefer it to all of the other lenses, including the Nikon VR. I got mine for about $400 used-if you shoot weddings or events, this is a must-have piece of glass. PROS Optical quality - Comparable to the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR Ease of use - the push/pull manual focus function is wonderful, with live view and this lenses ability to close focus, I rarely pull out my macro lens for anything but ring shots at a wedding, or if I find a weird insect or something. Price - Pretty obvious, here. Yes, you give up VR, but when shooting people, I am generally keeping my shutter speed above 1/160 anyhow. Anything else, I'm on a tripod. I'd love the VC version, but I can't justify the expense. 77mm filters Included tripod collar Included petal hood that works very well CONS Weight - Can't do much about this for a 3x f2.8 zoom with a lot of glass inside. Get a Black Rapid or similar strap and carry by the tripod collar! Autofocus performance - Tends to hunt in low light, slower than the Nikons, but better than the Sigma. Autofocus - Doesn't always nail focus, especially has trouble with eyes on a full-length subject. When it nails it, it's magic. I just have to be vigilant.

It was a used purchase, but I couldn't tell it isn't new. I'm still learning a lot, but this made it much easier to get good, indoor basketball pictures with the right combination of ISO given a 2.8 aperature. It doesn't focus as I think it should, but an on/off of the camera seems to correct everything. I wish I had splurged for an AV model, but I'll get used to it for a price of about $550.

This is my first Non-Nikon lens and one of 2 zoom lenses I own (the other being the 14-24). I decided against the Nikon version because of price difference and because I don't do weddings, this would be strictly a 'fun' lens for me. I was a little skeptical at first, I'm kind of a Nikon snob, but so far it's impressed me. I haven't had any problem getting sharp focus and it's pretty quiet too. I don't have a nikon to compare it to, but I'm satisfied with it as an alternative.

I'm very happy with this lens. It's great having a fast lens with this zoom range. I've used friends' Canon 70-200 f/2.8 lenses and this compares well with them. Image quality is just as good. The Tamron is a bit lighter. It is a little harder to autofocus in low light situations with the Tamron, however. That said, I'm not sure that justifies twice the cost. I'm very happy with this purchase.

This is an amazing deal! Tamron has great quality proffesional products at avery affordable price. This lens creates images of professional qualities as good as other lenses 2 or 3 times more expensive. My only 2 observations are: 1. Maintain a very steady grip when shooting. Specially at long focal range since it does not have VC (Vibration Compensation) 2. It has a bit of an issue focusing in low light situations (maybe cause its size blocks the AF assist illuminator a bit) so its great on outdoor daylight situations but has a bit of trouble in darker settings (night, dusk, dawn, sunset. etc) It works great in the studio and for the price you can't get a better 70-200 f2.8 heavy duty professional lens anywhere.

Love this lens. It pretty much stays on my camera now. After micro-calibrating, sharp pictures are obtainable. Its a very large lens and quite heavy and def. needs the lens hood outside; I've gotten some really strange lens flares without it. Overall, excellent bang for your buck.

I have had two Tamron 70-200 SP AF70-200mm F2.8. Both lenses let me down SEVERLEY by getting stuck in manual focus. The second of the two lenses got stuck in the middle of a wedding shoot and started this god-awful clicking when I turned the focus ring while stuck between manual and auto. Never again, Never Never again!

Very pleased with this lense. A little slow to auto focus, but that's worth the difference in the price! I'm very pleased!

Love it love it love it! It's fast enough to get that action shot and I love the background blur. It is a bit heavy but used on a monopod/tripod is perfect. My grandsons are in a lot of sports and I use it 2-3 times a week.

Had this lens for almost a month and have taken somewhere around 1500 shots with it. It focuses fast and fine. I can not really see a difference in the speed when compared to my Nikon lenses. The difference in speed is so small that unless you are a pro, not a wannabe pro, you will not be able to tell the difference. It is great for hockey and hockey is a very fast sport. No problems with focus. It is heavier than some lenses but not as heavy as other 70-200 2.8s. I tried out two others before I spent the money. For this price, you could buy two or three and still come out cheaper than Nikon wants for their lens. I have nothing but praise for this lens when I think about it. Try it and I bet you will like it. If not, return it.

I've heard a lot about this lens about. Now I've used it. The focusing is a little slow but if your not doing sports or want to spend $2,000 on nikkor then this is the lens for you.

I have owned this lens for 6 months and have been pleased with the consistent results. I use it mostly for portraits and weddings. The lens is sharp and good in low light. The compression from the long zoom makes the photos look great. Let's not forget how much easier the price is compared to the Nikon version. This photo was taken using a Nikon D700; 1/800 sec at f/2.8, ISO 400.

Quality is good. No issues with the focusing or the noise when doing so. Quick and accurate focus. Feels solid and well-built.This is an amazing lens that produces wonderful photos in low light. The price is more than reasonable compared to other similar offerings.Perfect for portraits and sporting events. I agree with all of the other 5 Star reviews.

Great product, this is what I have been waiting for in a fast lens. Still waiting for a couple weeks to try it out at sports fast pace baseball games.

I miss having internal stablization on this lens. I tend to get a better picture with different lens having IS.

Excellent Value In a Fast Telephoto
By Nathan T.
I borrowed this lens to shoot a wedding and I was thoroughly impressed, so much so that I actually wished I had tried this one before I purchased my Nikon 80-200. The Nikon is a wonderful lens, now mind you, but the price point of the Tamron gives it the edge in my book. As this wedding took place at the shore, I took a number of establishment shots of wildlife and various members of the wedding party playing in the surf. I found the Tamron to be very quick on the focus and it worked well wi...

Very good for portraits, beautiful background. Rapid enough focus, very sharp even at a large diaphragm.
While overall dimensions are confined to the absolute minimum, the new SP AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD (IF) MACRO zoom lens is packed with features that allow stress-free photography: a versatile MFD of just 37.4" over the entire zoom range; best-in-class maximum macro magnification ratio of 1:3.1 at f=200mm; and an advantageous internal focusing (IF) system.
The new tele-zoom lens covers a desirable focal length range of 70mm medium telephoto to 200mm telephoto when mounted on full-size format SLR cameras and a focal length range from 109mm to 310mm* ultra telephoto when mounted on a DSLR camera with an APS-C sized imager.
(*Tamron uses an approx. of 1.55x)
