The product was used weekly and performance was very good. Low light had difficulty, but price was key.

Let me first say this review is based strictly on the lens being reviewed. I admit I'd rather have a faster focusing lens with a wider f stop range, however this lens is perfect for the price tag. I've used this lens to shot wildlife, landscapes, indoor shots, and my kids' sporting events. The slow focus has been a tad annoying in some situations, however I simply flipped the switch to manual - problem solved. Low light pictures have required some work in Photoshop which is no problem, since I'm used to and more often than not do work in Photoshop on nearly all my pictures. Add this lens to your collection if you need an affordable wide focal length lens.

I bought a copy of this lens 6 months ago and very happy with it, i bought it for the macro capability is not a true macro 1:1, but it gets the job done, i do a lot of flowers and landscape photography, this lens is slow in focusing and some times searches in my nikon D90, but again is a cheap lens that can produce great results, is a bit on the heavy side but that is expected for the type of lens, and is lighter than similar zoom lenses, also contrast is soft on the 300 mm range, nothing that can't be fix with photo software, i have used it for portratis and candids on a sunny day, with great resullts, remember this is a cheap lens and slow, with great quality optics, if you whant this lens for indoor photo and sports, it might not performe good or at all, for that you need a 2.8 or better, thats why the high prices of the oder lenses, this lens needs a lot of light to work good so its ideal for outdoors photos. it is worth the price, needs a little bit of getting use to, but i am happy with it. Remember more light, the faster the shutter, more light is achived with a 2.8 or better, so this lens is not 2.8 or better so is not fast enough for indoor sports, hope this helps.

Tamron now offers a lightweight, compact, high-image-quality telephoto zoom lenswith macro capability of 1:2 that can be used with digital cameras. This new lens is a Di type lens using an optical system with improved multi-coating designed to function with digital SLR cameras as well as film cameras.
With this 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens, flipping a macro switch in the focal length range of 180mm to 300mm obtains a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 at a minimum focus distance as short as 37.4", enabling close-up shots of flowers, insects, and other objects that normally require the use of a specially designed macro lens. Moreover, this is a zoom lens that casually offers the distant capture and foreshortening effect pleasures of the 300mm ultra-telephoto world.
