Works very well, easily interchangeable, and affordable. Auto focus is kinda noisy.

Lens works well, but gets stuck returning to the normal position from macro mode.

I love this lens. It gives me the ability to take far away shots in high quality, or to get those close up (macro) beautifully. I would reccommend this lens to anyone who asked.

I'm extremely dissapointed with this lens. Not sure if it was the one I received, considering all the brand and the high rating reviews it got. I know it's not a prime but still it should be able to have a reasonable focus and sharpness (yes, I know the trick for changing it to macro and back). Ther's no way I can get a picture decently focused, AF or manual. Considering getting into out-of-focus experimentation photos since can't use it otherwise.

I use very expensive powerful nikon lenses for both nature/wildlife and various in studio and outdoor portraits, thought I would try this. It does not focus quickly, goes in and out of focus, and is definitely not sharp... I use nikon 70-300 have two lenses and they are amazing! Have 3 cameras so thought this might be a good fit, NOPE, I'm returning it

Lens is adequate for most uses. It’s reasonably sharp and any distortion can be corrected in post processing. It’s exceptionaly good value for money.

I love my new lens. I took some great pictures on vacation. It was very easy to change out too. Very easy to use too.

Without stabilization it's tough to get anything long and sharp with the slightest wind. Other than that, it's a great deal for it's capability.

A good walk around lens. Don't expect super sharp images because you get what you pay for, but it's a decent lens.Write your review here. It must be at least 10 characters long. Consider whether you would recommend this product and what you like or dislike about it.

The lens is pretty nice, a little heavy and not the fastest focus ability. Otherwise, for the money, it's a pretty nice lens.

Takes great pics, a little stiff out of the box for manual focus.

If it had vibration reduction, it would be close to perfect for me as a hobbyist.

Do not be scared off by the price and think, cheap lens. Totally not the case. I have been using this lens until my new Tamron 70-200mm gets in for shooting high school softball games. By no means is it as fast as Tamron 70-200mm but with the price difference it better be. With that said I have had no issues shooting the games. I have still been able to get the action shots as well as all the home runs on burst mode. All my pictures have been sharp and in focus. Shooting at 1600 iso to eliminate the shadows and keep my shutter fast the lens still produces great low noise pictures. I would have given 5 stars but I have not used it for any macro shots yet but if it performs like it has so far I am sure the shots will be awesome and again all for $. Even after my Tamron 70-200mm comes in I will not take this lens out of my bag for shooting sports.

I had owned a film Nikon back in the 90s, and for that camera I had owned a Tamron telephoto. So this time around, getting a digital Nikon, I wanted another Tamron. And I was not disappointed. It actually fills the bill as my regular lens for shooting portrait and close-up shots. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Bought for Pentax K1. This lens is a decent value, but you get what you pay for. Focus IQ isn't great. Hunts a bit and will go through the whole range to find the focus. The "macro" is decent, but is only 1:2 on a full frame. The focus is a little soft. I eventually went with the 55-300 DA WR from Pentax. Crop lens, but it's 440mm effective, weather sealed, sharper, and reasonably compact for under ($). Your images will only be around 18 MP with the crop, but I'd rather have 18 MP sharp than 36 MP slightly blurry.

The Tamron 70-300 is a versatile well constructed lens and is especially valued for its macro function. Purchased at ADORAMA for a great price with a useful kit, it is great for outdoor photo of sports, wildlife. This lens is constructed very tight but works smoothly. Focus is a bit louder than my oem lens. Care needs to be taken in mount / dismount not to twist the focus ring as it will drive the focus motor possibly causing damage. Great 6 year warranty.

Awesome lens for the offered price. Great for kids close ups. I damaged my original Pentax lens and was looking for a comparable lens. Tamron offers the best results at best price.

When zoomed out to a longer focus length, this lens requires a monopod or tripod. The copy I have has recorded some fine MACRO images but the images I have gotten at 300 mm have been either blurry or soft. It is a fine lens for specific jobs, but I cannot recommend it or an all-purpose lens. I have not tried it for sports, but for what I do, it has limited functionality. It is worth the price of the lens, if one cannot afford a nicer lens, but my recommendation is that, if possible, one saves up and buys a nicer lens for that zoom range.

I purchased this lens for the express purpose of photographing the local high school sports teams. The lens has performed great, but I do have two complaints. First, the zoom mechanism has a bit more resistance as I approach the longer focal lengths, between 200mm and 300mm. Also, the full-time manual focus overide can be problematic with the zoom adjust located further away from the camera: I tend to support the camera lens with my left hand from beneath and as I make quick zoom adjustments, I can hit easily hit the focus ring. In general, I have been able to adjust so it's not a huge problem.

after several weeks of research, i purchased this lens to add to the collection. it is a very capable lens. I did not want to spend the money on a fast 70 200 and wanted the extra reach of the 300 being i am just a hobbyist. using on a crop sensor d3300, it works fantastic. using on a d750, it works fantastic. it's a little to long for indoor use on the d3300. good build quality, VC works great.

Only bad thing about it is the infinity setting. It is not where it says it is, it's about 1/64" back off mark. :-(

Outstanding Value
By Boogaloo
The tech talk is interesting, but where the rubber meets the road this is a very good performing, satisfying telephoto mounted on my Rebel XT and 40D. In an unsophisticated test on a friend's 50D, image quality did not seem to improve suggesting a resolve up to about 10MP. I have taken 10-thousand horse show action racing photos with sweet results from overcast to bright sunny days. The action is quick with constant zoom in/out to frame upwards of 20 shots in a 20 second race. Zoom is still...

This is the best camera I have ever owned. It takes outstanding pictures, even in automatic mode. I couldn't ask for anything better. [...]
Unparalleled optical performance in a fast and steady telephoto zoom: In the pursuit to achieve the most outstanding image resolution in the 70-300mm class, Tamron's Anniversary lens, the SP AF70-300mm F4-5.6 Di VC USD (Model A005) utilizes an advanced optical design that features an LD (Low Dispersion) and an XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) lens element made from specialized materials that prevent chromatic aberration.
As a result, the SP AF70-300mm F4-5.6 Di VC USD (Model A005) boasts sharper contrast and greater descriptive performance than all others in its class. In addition, it isthe first Tamron lens sporting a USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive), Tamron's very own 27.0 oz. ultrasonic auto-focus drive mechanism.
This USD mechanism delivers fast mechanism focusing, making it a perfect telephoto zoom choice for photographing sports, racing, or other fast-moving subjects. The lens also boasts Tamron's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization to assist in handheld photography, not only at long focal length ranges where blurring is common, but also under low-lit conditions, dramatically enhancing photographic freedom.
This combination of best in class image resolution, Ultrasonic Silent Drive and Vibration Compensation is a new achievement of Tamron technology culminating in the production of a premium 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens.
