Sharp, fast focus

My favorite lens. It quite versatile as it is not just for macro shots. With macro it has great bokeh but for distance is is very sharp.

Perfect Lens at an afforable price

By

This lens is tack sharp and excellent for use as both a portrait and macro lens. Although I ususlaly like to use Canon products, I have found that the Tamron SP lens produces a much sharper image than their regular consumer lens at a much better price than the Canon. Its a good buy and a qulaity product.

Love this lens, totally worth it!

By

I am just a photo newbie but I love this lens! Super easy to use and takes great shots. I use it for pictures of my family, clients and pets. The detail is awesome and what clarity! The only thing I don't care for that it seems to take a few seconds longer than normal to focus.....also bought it used...was in MINT shape, thanks Adorama!

Worth every cent !

By

Great lens, exceeded expectations. I would have gave it 5 stars but the auto focus switch its a little flimsy other than that beautiful picture quality, fast, easy to focus and great in low light

I have been looking for a reasonably priced macro lens for photographing flowers and the Tamron fits my needs very well.

Questions about this item:

PAUL W  Will this work on my Canon 5D Mark III? I understand it has vibration reduction and auto focus? Thanks, Paul
CLAUDIA C  Yes, it has vibration reduction and auto focus. Definitely a nice lens. I use it on a Canon 7D, which is not a full frame camera. I presume that it would be fine on your camera, but I would check on the Tamron website just to be sure.
PAUL W  Claudia, I believe you are mistaken. They have another model with "VC" on it, for around $750. That has vibration reduction. i just talked to the professional at the camera store. The VC is a different model I believe.
Shopper  would like a macro---but what else is it good for---is it good for portraits landscape --sports or is it best at macro ? Thanks
PAUL C  I bought it for the macro and I'm completely satisified with it for that purpose - very good sharpness. I' ve taken a few shots for portraits and it appears just as good. My main landscape lens is a Sigma 17-70 f/2.8, but I pull out the Tamron to isolate smaller flowers. I use these on a Canon 60D.
ROBERT B  Will this work on a Canon 6D?
CHRIS T  I don't own a 6D but I have done a lot of research since I was considering buying a 6D and I own this lens. The 6D is an EF mount and that's what the lens was originally designed for so it should work great with the 6D I recently bought a 70D which is an EF-S mount and I was concerned about compatibility, but I had the opportunity to try it on the 70D before buying it and it works great! I haven't regretted buying the 70D. The lens and the camera work very well together. I use this lens a lot in my photography and I have no issues at all. Bottom line, the lens will work on an EF or EF-S mount just fine.
