Great Macro

It is one of my favorite lenses. Awesome construction, which is only matched by the quality of the glass. Provides incredible resolution with no distortions at all optical ranges. Makes stellar portraits. Great at extreme Close-up ranges but be aware of increased lens extension, which can significantly decrease your working distance. This same lens extension makes a hood almost unnecessary.

Built by someone who doesn't like people

Photographing 9 years. Digital and medium format film. Worked with all kinds of lenses over the years. This is the single worst piece of photographic equipment that I own. Focusing this lens is an exercise in futility.

Sharp, fast focus

By

My favorite lens. It quite versatile as it is not just for macro shots. With macro it has great bokeh but for distance is is very sharp.

Perfect Lens at an afforable price

By

This lens is tack sharp and excellent for use as both a portrait and macro lens. Although I ususlaly like to use Canon products, I have found that the Tamron SP lens produces a much sharper image than their regular consumer lens at a much better price than the Canon. Its a good buy and a qulaity product.

Love this lens, totally worth it!

By

I am just a photo newbie but I love this lens! Super easy to use and takes great shots. I use it for pictures of my family, clients and pets. The detail is awesome and what clarity! The only thing I don't care for that it seems to take a few seconds longer than normal to focus.....also bought it used...was in MINT shape, thanks Adorama!

Worth every cent !

By

Great lens, exceeded expectations. I would have gave it 5 stars but the auto focus switch its a little flimsy other than that beautiful picture quality, fast, easy to focus and great in low light

Questions about this item:

Ryan D  will the auto focus feature on this lens work on a corp crop sensor dslr like the Niko d5100? , have been thinking about purchasing this lens but wanted to know first from feedbacks regarding autofocus issues.
EMMETT H  I have a D300 with a crop sensor and it works fine. This lens is sooo sensitive on its focus that I often have to manual focus with tight macro shots. I'm a wedding photographer and I use it for my ring and accessory shots.
Shopper  Is this lens good with any Nikon digital SLR camera?
TODD G  I have this lens and it works great with my Nikon D90. I hope that helps! Good luck with the lens. It is a great macro lens as well as a great portrait lens. Todd
