About Tokina 10-17mm F/3.5-4.5 DX

Tokina AT-X 107 AF DX 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 Fish-eye lens exclusively for Digital SLR cameras with APS-C sensors.

The new Tokina AT-X 107 DX is a fish-eye lens that gives the photographer a 180° 100° ; field of view with dramatic curvature of field or "fish-eye" effect. With this lens an entire view or vista can be captured, wider than the human eye can see. The AT-X 107 opens an entirely new dimension of photography.

The front element of the AT-X 107 DX has a newly formulated WP or "Water Proof" optical coating on the glass. This new coating makesmarks such as spots left by water or finger-prints much easier to clean than standard multi-coating.

The rear optical group of the lens contains 1 SD (Super-Low Dispersion) glass element to reduce the number of elements (pieces of glass) in the optical design in order to make the lens more compact, light-weight and faster focusing.

The Tokina 10-17mm F/3.5-4.5 DX is commonly used for Special effects and more. The Tokina 10-17mm F/3.5-4.5 DX is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Semi-professional among others. The Tokina 10-17mm F/3.5-4.5 DX is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Tokina 10-17mm F/3.5-4.5 DX: Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight and Strong construction

Great Fishey Lens!

Recently used it on a sailboat cruise, and it was great! It gets everything in and greatly expands tight spaces. I plan on using it for additional effects at weddings. I used a fisheye on film cameras before, but when I moved to a crop frame digital camera, it cut off the really wide & wild effect. It's very nice to have it back again.

Best fisheye

from USA  -  Semi-pro Photographer

This is the best fisheye lens I've ever used. It's amazing on a cropped camera, and at certain focal lengths its nice on a full frame. The fact that it can zoom is a nice feature that allows a lot of creativity. Underwater is where this lens REALLY shines! One of my overall favorite things about this lens is how close it can focus... You can take really creative super wide macro type shots that no other lens that I know of can match. The only thing I would change from an engineering perspective, would be to make this a fixed f/2.8 aperture lens, but then again you don't really want big apertures on fisheyes anyway. Get this lens, you'll love it!

For full frame

from washington IL  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Full corner to corner image can be achieved on an FX camera between approx. 14.5-17MM depending on the camera model, at 10-14MM there is a semi-circular view. I am using this with a 9" underwater dome for wide angle, whale sharks, dolphins etc.

Fantastic Lens!

This lens is Awesome! I would recomend it to anyone!

Fishy Smishy...

from nj  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Not a bad lens but not as good as new canon 8-15mm. Built nicely and performed well while i had it. I had no major issues with it, id recoment it for any intermediate photographers with an aps-c cam. Definately afordable and reliable.

Sharp, well-constructed

from Tucson, AZ  -  Pro Photographer

I use it sparingly as it's a nice effect for 2 or 3 images during a wedding such as room/table shots, church shots, large group shots (but too many would be overkill). It's also fun for funky landscapes.

Tokina 10 mm fisheye lens

from Texas  -  Photo Enthusiast

Strictly u/w photography - works well on wide angle under water shots. It is suppose to work on macro photos as well - will try this next time I dive. It covers a very wide area and is easy to use. I use it on Canon 50D camera in a SeaSea housing. This lens is suppose to work with other models as well - suggest you check with camera manufacturer to make sure it will work on other models.

Outstanding for underwater photo

from Buenos Aires, Argentina  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I bought this lens mainly for underwater use, after a web research in wich I found excelents reviews. I have the nikkor fisheye 16 and wanted to recover the angle I lost in using this lens in DX format camera. For underwater it is great to have the posibility to go from a 10 mm fisheye to a super wide 17 in the same dive. The pictures resulting after many dives are beautiful in terms of color and sharpness. I also took some videos with the Nikon D7000 and the result is excelent. For topside photography I found it also great. If you use it in 17 mm the usual curved lines of the fisheye are minimal so you can use it as a super wide angle also.

Fun Lens

I use this for that "different look", in HDR, Sports, and weddings.

Get it all in

I use this lens mostly for underwater inside an underwater housing connected to my D300. I really like the coverage. Fast focus.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
KIMIRO K  Reasonable price and right size.
Shopper  will this fit a nikon D5200 or D7000 ?
STEVE C  Since the Tokina lens is not made by NIKON - u would need to check with NIKON or TOKINA. The Tokina lens will fit on some NIKON & CANON digital cameras but not necessarily all of their models. I use mine on a Canon 50D and it fits just fine. There is a website called under water photography guide which has info on the Tokina and might give u an idea which models it will fit on. Tokina lens are good quality and work great on underwater wide angle shots and with proper adjustments can be used for some types of macro.
herbert b  this fisheye lens fits canon 7D camera?
IAN R  Yes, the Tokina 10mm -17mm fits on the Canon 7D. This is the set up I use for underwater photography. I highly recommend this combo.
