Questions & Answers

Shopper : Will to work well with A7?DEBORAH H : I don't think so. I've used it on an A350 and now I use it on an A65; but my understanding is that the A7 does not use the typical Sony A-Mount. I'm not 100% sure though.HARLAN W : Amazing! The shots that everyone wants to know what lens I used. This one.
Shopper : is this lens compatible with canon rebel? I am not a professional but do a lot of photography up close. any recommendations?FREDERICK B : Great lens for Sony a55. Do not know about a canon rebel FjbATISHA R : I bought the lens by mistake for a Nikon mount an it does not fit that. Tokina makes this lens with three different mounts. Make sure you order the ones specific for canon. It should work with the rebel series. Also I do not know whether you meant macro photography by up close cause this is not the best macro. It's better mostly for landscapes. I have tried it for close up shots but you maybe better off with a dedicated macro lens for that.GEORGE H : This ia a great lens. I used it on a Sony a300 which unfortunately was stolen. I am planing to buy either a Canon or Nikon to replace it and I will definately order the Tokina 11-16mm with my camera purchase.CHRIS M : for sony lens, will not work with canon, needs to be canon lensNOAH N : I bought it for my GH2 and it was easy to find an adaptor. I am now looking for an adaptor to the Canon DSLRs and I'm struggling to find one even less one that would control the aperture. I need to look into wether the Minolta mount to Canon camera will work...FRANK S : Nope, this lens is for sony/minolta A-mount cameras.STEVEN G : Yes as a matter of fact it is designed for the 1.6x magnif on the sensor. I use it on my Rebel XSi and 7D all the time.
Henry J : Is this Lens compapatable with a Sony Alpha 55 ?RANDALL S : I'm not sure about the A55, as I only have the A700 and it is superb on it. One of the best investments I've made.LESLIE N : I can't say for sure that it is compatible with the A55, but there is every reason to believe that it is. I have used it with no problem on an Sony A700 and also a Sony A350.CHRIS M : Yes it is....I use it on my a 55.... In low light I have to manual focus.....AMELIA C : It should be as I am using the lens with an A33. Great lens - sharp and bright with f2.8.James F : I don't have the a55, but I am sure that it would work fine. I have used it on an a350 and the a700 without any issues. JHSteven B : I ended up returning it and getting the sigma 8 - 16 instead. I do primarily landscape photography, so the the fact that the tokina has a larger maximum aperture is not relevant, (most landscape photography is done at relatively small apertures) and the Sigma has the same quality image while being a much wider lens. See the reviews on photozone.deSteven B : Definitely. It's a great lens.

Great Wide Angle Lens

I loved this lens, but when I upgraded to a full frame I had to sell it. This lens did some amazing astro shots, and as a architecture and landscapes lens it worked fantastic.

Great lens for price

This lens works very well at an affordable price. The fixed aperture is great for a shallow depth of field, even at a wider angle. It is a little heavy at 1.2 pounds, but is still small enough to travel with. My main complaint is that I can't use the manual focus ring in autofocus mode, I have to choose one or the other.

Amazing lens, great quality and value!

I got this lens because the price dropped and I didn't have anything wider than the kit zoom lens for my Nikon D3400. I am even more excited than I expected, on my cropped sensor, the difference is very distinctive, the constant 2.8 aperture is great and also the lens is of very good overall quality (performance, image and build quality). I believe it's great value. Auto focus is very good and fast in my hobbyist experience, and much more silent than my Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G DX. One thing I must note is that it's by far the heaviest of my lenses. I can only compare it to the kit 75-300 lens, it's not that long and doesn't extend that much, but it's definitely larger in diameter and heavier, overall more bulky. Also, I would probably prefer a manual focus switch rather than the ring mechanism, but it still works perfectly fine, maybe I just need to get used to it. Great value for money, definitely recommended!

So far so great

Wasn't quite sure how the lens will turn out, but after a few sessions, its slowly becoming my favorite!! For wide landscape shots, the F-stop is a cherry on top

Perfect lens for real estate photography

Build quality is great for this price point and photos, at least on a cropped sensor, have minimal distortion.

Very good lens

I purchased this lens for astro photography and it has performed very well. I have enjoyed learning to frame photos to best use of the wide angle. I found I could have done as well with a fixed focus at 11mm. The 2.8 f stop is great for Milky Way shots. I was able to get a 180° sky show in only 5 exposures.

This lens is surprisingly fine

This lens is surprisingly fine.Sharp and as you stop down to about f8 to f11 edge sharpness and focus is very good, even excellent. The zoom range is not so great to create distortion at all focal lengths. I also really llike the depth of field scale and the manual or auto focus options. It has a lot of bang for the buck

Great for landscape photos

I'm an amateur photographer with minimal experience, testing the waters. I find this lens to be great for photography while hiking, although it is a bit heavy. It takes good photos but also tends to overexpose everything. Obviously there are ways to deal with that, so it's not a deal breaker. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Love It

I took this lens and a rented Nikon 10 to 24 mm to Sedona Arizona. Although the extra range of the Nikon was sometimes more convenient, it was not worth the extra cost. Image quality and build quality was comparable on both lenses. I am very happy with this lens and Adorama’s price made it too good to pass up. This is a great addition to my gear bag and I would recommend this lens to anyone looking for a great white angle for landscape photography. Also, the 2.8 makes it great for indoor shoots with low lighting.

Perfect for home interiors and creative landscape

This lens turned out to be exactly what I needed to photograph interiors. It works perfectly with my aging but reliable Nikon D7000.The f2.8 aperture is fantastic when you need it. The build quality of this Tokina is superior to budget Nikon offerings.Best of all this lens is VERY sharp. So there is no compromise with image quality. It takes a while to get used to pulling the focus ring down and out for manual focus-and remembering to push it back Up for autofocus. But after using this lens for a couple weeks it's now second nature.Whatever APS camera platform you're using this lens is impressive and perfect on your budget. I truly wish I had bought this lens a year ago!

Very nice

Very nice, built like a tank. I usually buy Nikon lenses but with all the good reviews for the Tokina and the $ compared to the Nikon lens I couldn't justify the extra $. It is very sharp at all zoom levels. The build quality is evident as soon as you pick it up. I'm glad I chose Tokina for this particular lens.

So far, liking lens

This lens is heavier than I’ll used to, but I can put up with that. So far, I’m liking it. I got it for night photography, which I have yet to try. The lens hood was hard to take off, there’s a trick. Go to YouTube to check out how.

Wide Lens for C100

Bought it for a wider option on my C100 and it seems to do the job. Very little distortion. The only thing I could ask for is FF comparability and IS, but the best part of this was the price, which wouldn’t happen with Thise features. Solid, inexpensive lens.
