Questions & Answers

Jason C : Are the casters removable if I want to put on sturdier wheels?JEAN W : Jason, I have not tried to do so but upon looking at them, it looks like you can.FRANCISCO E : It is very good i used in several wedding ceremonies..VICTORIA H : I don't know for sure, but I feel like it could be done somehow. It has worked well for me the way it came.HARVEY L : Yes, the wheels appear to be screwed into the bottom of the cross-frame, but I do not know what the screw size is. It might be something in inches or it might be metric. Knowing what the screws are could be a show stopper, regardless of whether they are inches or metric, if the new wheels have a fixed size screw. For example, a 3/8" screw would not fit into a 1/4" threaded hole, nor would it fit into a 10 mm threaded hole. If you can do machine work to change the screw size on the cross frame, the question would be moot. Yes, the wheels are not large, and the dolly with a heavy camera does not like to roll on a carpeted floor. It can be done if one is careful and pulls the whole assembly low down on the legs rather than at the camera. I do that frequently. Keep in mind that larger wheels will raise the minimum height of the tripod. Depending upon the tripod, that could become an issue.CAROLE J : Wheels are attached to the leg adjustment mechanism . If you remove that part there is no way to attach your stand or tripod. I think it would be a bad idea to attempt to modify it.ERIC O : Yea
Shopper : what weight load can this handle?EMMETT H : It is very well built. I don't know exactly the weight capacity, however, it should handle any camera/light/accessory you would place on a tripod or light stand. The only limitation I experienced is the spread. It may not expand wide enough to stabilize a large stand.STEVEN F : I'm currently using two of these in our studio. Although I can't give you a specific weight rating I can tell you that on each one I have an 8' heavy-duty air cushioned light stand, a 600 w/s Interfit strobe (they're heavy) and a 30" x 40" softbox. So from my perspective, they're very robust.LUCIA L : I don't know how much weight it can handle. but in my case I just mount on it the tripod which is like 8 lbs maybe, and then the camcorder which is a panasonic HMC40 and a bracket with a britek 200w video light. the dolly is not flimsy but be careful when transporting it because the knobs that lock the sliding piece where you mount the tripod those can break ,i put them on a separate bag and never drop them or slam them or anything. the reason they break is because they stick out and can easily hit something hard.( I carry a whole bunch of equipment) since I discovered that they last longerSHAYNE P : I don't have a specific weight but it handles everything I throw at it. The casters are heavy duty and the weight distribution falls directly on top them so they do pretty well. I use mine with a boom with a 48" softbox mounted on it and I haven't had any problems. No complaints here. I think its well worth the money.LENNY K : I can't tell you what the top rating is, but I can tell you that they handle my heavy monolites (TraveLite 750s) with large (36x48) soft boxes and a 20 lb sand bag very well.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?Kenneth G : Needed a rollable dolly for video shoots. I trust the Adorama brand.LENNY K : I needed a way to move the studio lights around without having to put the camera down and pick up the light /light stand, and move it. This dolly fit the legs of the Calumet light stands well and took care of the requirement.MICHAEL D : I am in a wheel chair and do portrait and product photography. The tripod dollies ease the repositioning of my strobe set-ups much easier and quicker.JEAN W : It is so much easier to push your tripod instead of lifting every time while shooting an event! This dolly is a little on the small side. Any camera over 15 to 20 pounds I would recommend a stronger version.

Makes moving the tripod so much easier

I use this dolly with a tripod for some simple portrait and product photography work. It rolls easily and makes positioning the tripod much simpler. The wheel locks work fine when I don't want the tripod moving. The only drawback is that it is hard to change the length of the tripod legs; you really need about three hands: one pair to hold the tripod level, one pair to adjust the legs, and one pair to adjust the clamps on the dolly. This really isn't a big gripe, but something to think about.

Practical, Does what it was designed to

The benefit of this product is in it's simplicity. It was designed for a specific purpose and it does it well. It works with most tripods and is built for most anything that is tripod mounted. It opens and closes without catching fingers, has a carry handle and a sturdy zipper bag. It does exactly what it was designed to do and take the least space!

Just the thing!

I use this dolly in my studio to support a Benro tripod with two video cameras on top. It easier to roll this around than to pick up and carry the whole assembly around. Also I use it for "roll-in" shots. For the price I couldn't expect any more.

Works Simple, Works Great

We recently purchased a 3d laser scanner, so we purchased a tripod and dolly from Adorama to mount the scanner on, and everything has worked wonderfully so far. The ability to remove the tripod from the dolly in order to move the tripod outside or on site is extremely helpful.

arrived broken

It arrived broken, one of the leg doesn't stay locked in the open position. I contacted customer service over a month ago, but no solution is in sight yet. They were not particularly reactive...

clunky, not worth it

this was a clunky piece of equipment that we tried to use and film with a 5D MK II on a tripod and the wheels did not roll smoothly at all - it rendered useless for the project we were working on. i returned it, no questions asked, the next day.

Descent Dolly

The dolly is very good for the price. The design wasn't as rigid as I was hoping, but it gets the job done. It also comes with a bag to store it in. The wheels are rubber and the locking mechanisms works well.

Great Product For The Bucks

I used this product for my after wedding shots. The Tripod Dolly allowed me to position my lights without having to pick them up when I needed to move them around.

Great Value

I purchased this dolly based on the other reviews and was stunned when I opened up the box. Perfect for my needs, which is occasional video for the web, in a makeshift studio. What a great deal, I'm glad I didn't shell out another hundred or so for the Manfrotto dolly I was considering.

Great Purchase

It eliminated carrying the whole weight of camera, light and battery by hand. Eased the use and movement of the camera in places like halls and churches. Folds neatly and can be easily carried around, it's very strong and solid.

Good value &sturdy

I like the fact that when you open the legs, they lock in place...nothing to tighten. It is also very adjustable for different size tripods. Wheels are more sturdy than more expensive models in comparable price range. Nice carry bag.

Great dolly

Four years ago, I was low on money and needed a tripod dolly. I bought the cheapest one I could find and have been pleasantly surprised. This is a great dolly for the price. It is easy to use and very lightweight. It is not built as sturdily as more expensive dollies. The parts that hold the feet of the tripod are plastic. However, it is the lightest and most compact dolly I have ever used. It gives me a smooth and sturdy platform without weighing a ton. It has great wheels, and has held up just fine after four years of location shooting.
