Shopper : The ballhead in this combo does not have a level?JOHN M : No, unfortunately there is no level.JONATHAN F : Unfortunately there is no level on the ballhead. Though it is very sturdy. You can buy hot shoe levels cheaply if you need one on the camera.RICHARD M : NoPETER D : Correct. It does not have a level.
Pam F : I'm a newbie, and just bought a Canon 70D with a 18-135 lens. I'm looking for a tripod I can take on a trip to New Zealand, but am not sure whether to get the SLR Zoom or the Focus. Advice?PATRICK W : New Zealand eh? That is where I am. Personally, I use the focus. The zoom is not really strong enough in my opinion but the focus does a pretty good job. I have the focus with ball head and find it quite handy. I do not think the Zoom is really sturdy enough.ROBERT D. W : Hi Pam: I have the Focus, 11 lb capacity, which I use for a mirrorless camera. I do not use it with my SLR (Canon 5D) as it is marginal. While the 5D and most lenses weigh less than 11 lbs, one must spread the legs quite a bit for good stability. It has worked gripping fence rails etc, but is still a bit wiggly with the 5D, and it is ideal for my compact camera. I would STRONGLY recommend a compact conventional travel tripod for your 70D, for best results.ROBERT G : For the very purpose of camera amd lens stability from the tripod and ball head combination always go with the heaviest support rated setup you can justify. I bought these for remote flash and reflector support, not primarily for camera amd lens support. I have alwyas found the lighter gear to be inadequate.BARB B : I have only used the focus. It seems very stable with up to a Nikon D4 with a 28-300 lens.TODD F : Get the sturdier oneHARRY A : The Gorillapod would work for your trip. I usually take a small regular tripod instead because it is about the same weight as the Gorillapod and is more stable. The gorillapod excels at grabbing things to stabilize your camera like posts or railings.
kdsand s : Love my gorillapod focus & ball head x. I have been trying to find a good bag for it (any suggestions please)?? My day bag is a Domke & while this will fit its awkward and less than ideal.ALEX G : I do not use a bag for it. I travel a lot and it stored in my luggage.
