The only disadvantage with this product is that it is so well built that you can put too much into it for an aging back. I have looked at many backpacks for camera equipment and found this fit my needs and quality requirements better than other packs. Bought it used from Adorama at an excellent price and it looked like new to me when I received it! The evaluation by Adorama was conservative; it was in better condition than I expected. The back is constructed with a special pad for the small of your back so it fits very snuggly and comfortably!

I wanted a bag to carry all of my equipment to and from on-location shoots. Previously, my gear was split into two bags which proved quite inconvenient. This bag is certainly roomy. I cannot attest to how comfortable it is to hike with on long trips - in my opinion, it's not really made for that. Why? There's no storage area set aside for anything but camera gear. It's made to carry a lot of camera gear and nothing else. And it does that perfectly. How much can this bag hold? Well, let's see... In the main compartment: Canon 5D Mark II Canon 7D Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 Canon EF 28-70mm f/2.8 L Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 Kenko 1.4x Teleconverter (3) umbrella swivels 58mm ND filter 77mm B+W ND filter 77mm B+W CPOL 77mm Singh-Ray Vari-N-Duo Various step-up rings Extra body/rear element caps Tascam DR-07 audio recorder Windscreen In the outer pockets: Wired remote trigger Wireless trigger RC-1 Lens cleaning cloths Extra DSLR batteries Several memory cards Gaffer's tape And, admittedly, I haven't really filled the outer pockets. My point? This bag is designed to carry a lot of equipment. For that, it works very well. I've been pleasantly surprised by the durability and ruggedness of this bag so far. If you're looking for a bag that can carry most of your camera equipment with you wherever you go, this is the bag for you.

This thing is huge. The only thing that I don't like about it is that the hip straps can not be removed and it will not fit as a carry on for airplanes. Other than that, it is fantastic.

I could not be more pleased with this bag. I'm able to simultaneously store the following with no issues: Nikon D3 with 70-200 lens attached Nikon D3 with 14-24 lens attached 4 Speedlights 1 Speedlight Commander 4 other lenses of vaious sizes 3 collapsible reflectors in the laptop section It took some creative thinking to adjust the dividers but it all fits nice and secure. Very heavy with all this inside but the well-padded waistbelt makes it comfortable to carry. As an example, I got this bag 2 days before traveling to Pittsburgh. It's sized to be used as carry-on but the plane's overhead bins were too small so they made me check it at the gate despite my protests. To my shock everything came out fine. I wouldn't recommend checking this bag but it's nice to know your equipment has a fighting chance.

This Bag is very well constructed and well designed for camera equipment and a lap top. My bag has been to Iraq and Afghanistan as well as Asia and Europe. The rain seal and covered zippers are very good at keeping out both rain and desert dust. The bag fits in most airline over head luggage compartments but is too big to fit under seats. My only complaint is that with a name like Expedition, you would think there would be compartments for personal gear like a few clothes or trekking gear.

While this bag is not for everyone, serious photogs have got to love it! Serious protection for lots of gear, easy organization ol lenses and accessories. The sorting system for batteries and mem cards is both ingenious and user friendly. I believe anyone with 2 bodies and multiple lenses, flash, etc, will be impressed with this bags usability. It can be somewhat heavy though!!!

I like to use backpacks for my camera gear even though I don't use it for hiking. This pack holds a ton of stuff, but it is designed for outdoor use as it states. I'm happy with it overall and it definitely holds my equipment, but would love it if it had a few less straps and wasn't quite so bulky.

Super plush pack with loads of padding on the straps as well as on the back.If your looking for comfort and loads of space for your gear this is the one for you.I also am able to attach a fairly good sized tripod to it to tote around. Also it has a good sized pocket for a laptop.A SUPER PACK.

This bag is roomier than you might think and has plenty of space for gear (i.e. A D700 SLR bodie with a 80-200 lens attached, Could hold up to a 600 lens, plus other gear). The construction is top-quality and the design is well thought out. My tripod is a full-sized Gitzo and therefore hangs down below the tripod foot pocket, but the three straps the bag has to secure my tripod do a great job of attaching it to the back with no issues. It distributes weight on your hips. if you have to carry an excessive amount of weight. The super-comfortable arm straps and waist strap secured with the strap across your chest is enough to let you carry this bag around all day. This is the 3rd bag I have bought and it is the one I have been looking for.

The Expedition 8x is Tamrac's largest backpack for carrying the most extensive collection of photo equipment. The main compartment is completely foam padded with numerous adjustable, foam-padded dividers to protect multiple pro-size digital or film SLRs, a full range of lenses and flashes.
A camera with a long zoom lens attached is suspended on two vertical, foam-padded dividers that are internally reinforced with rigid plastic. Restraint straps hold the lens firmly in place. Three Windowpane-Mesh pockets inside the front flap visibly organize filters and other accessories. A plastic, foam-padded platform in bottom provides shock protection while a LockDown rain flap protects the zipper from the elements.
